Thanks. It'll be a bit before I can afford to go back to the stylist (this economy SUCKS ASS) but I've got a bit of inspiration, I think. Oh, and yeah, when my hair is long and has no layers, I TOTALLY get the Christmas tree effect! :D

You have an oval face shape which considered "ideal". But you have a soft jaw line so you want to avoid hard lines around your face. Here is a link to a updo I saw I couldn't download all the pics. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...26hl%3Den&um=1
Here are a few styles I thought would look nice on you. If you want to wear your hair straighter one day try flipping the ends out with a flat iron. I think that'd be cute around your face. Also I think a swoop bang would look nice on you.
A couple more
When your hair - by ufortunate accident as you told - is kinda short I would go w/ a hard red. As opposed to long hair where a discrete red and a tan works better.
Hard red and short hair also works good w/ pale skin and freckels !!
Ooh, good pics, thanks! I really like the swoop bangs, I was thinking of getting those. I have to straighten them (my bangs are curlier than the rest of my hair, and they look weird as bangs) but that's no biggie. When my hair gets a little longer I hope it'll look like the pics of Julia Stiles.
Nini, I like big wild hair with volume like that! How do I get that much height? Should I tease it or spray it or what?
First off, I'm sorry about your hair getting cut off. If you want to keep the red, try using a color-depositing conditioner like Artec or Paul Mitchell--it will help the red stay vibrant-looking for a longer period of time. You could also use one of those haircolor glazes or rinses in between colorings. I also think that pale freckled skin with dark hair looks very pretty together. High contrast combinations like that can be very stunning.
To get volume--teasing and hairspray. Tease using one of those teaser brushes that are made with boars bristles--boars bristles are gentle on your hair. Make sure to tease at the roots only, not the ends! I'm no expert, but these are just a few tips I learned from teasing queens, articles, and trial and error. Oh, also, I like to apply just a teeny tiny bit of some sort of product before I tease to help protect my strands from the rigors of backcombing.
P.S. The Julia Stiles hairdo is gorgeous!
Hey Yek, I have similar coloring. Very pale, freckles, hair so ashy it's almost grey naturally, only I have green eyes.
I posted a thread a while back going through all of my hair colors:
http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=110751
In my experience, when I went blondey and auburnish, I had to wear a lot of extra makeup to get my features to stand out.
When I embraced my ashy-ness, and went darker (medium to dark brown), I could get away with minimal makeup, and my eyes/coloring still popped.
Maybe go to a wig store and try on a bunch of different colors, to see what plays up your coloring best.
And trust me, I completely understand about the cut.
My hair was long and gorgeous, and a hairdresser got scissor-happy, and my hair went from half-way down my back to barely to my chin...with crazy layers.
Now, it's finally growing, but I have some layers as short as my eyebrows, and others past mys houlders...it's an absurdly bad mullet.
I've found I can't wear it all down, or it looks ridiculous.
But if I pin up just the top section, it looks nice.
Or, as my boyfriend calls it, the "bombshell style", I do a modified half-up/half-down. I pin up the top third of my hair, and push it forward to make a little pouf (and I do the swoop bang thing)I then pin up just the sides, so it looks like a normal half-up style, and pull loose a few little strands. It ends up looking very sexy, ala Brigitte Bardot, and no one can tell I have a mullet.
sorry to threadjack but in addition to you wanting to grow it out as well.. i started taking a new hair pill.. i tried the walmart ones and they did jack shit.. you should totally try Nature's plus ultra hair.. i swear i have been taking it for four days and my hair is seriously growing.. you should try them..
On the 3rd pic w/ the waterfall ... You are totally hot ... Lots of volume ... If you want even more use rollers/curlers/iron big/bend/in on the top and bend/back/small on the ends ...
Assuming that you are the one on the right ...
The guy on the left ... WOW ... Warm eyes ... Short/trimmed beard ... A little like Josh Holloway :-X
Aw, thanks! We're not as fat as we look in that pic, LOL! That's my sexy fiance.
Thanks for the great advice! I'm going to have to play with some backcombing a little bit. I really need to learn how to style this better than "curls and a headband," I'm getting really sick of that. I appreciate the tips!
Are you taking any hair growth pills or doing anything special to grow it out, Yek?
I take prenatal vitamins, and a couple times a week I go over it with a comb and rub Monistat into the scalp. The Monistat REALLY works, it grows like a weed in the rain when I do that. I should do it more often.
Wait.. Monistat like for vag infections?
Yep! It kills the little fungi on your scalp that inhibit hair growth. I'm seriously getting about a quarter-inch a week when I do it every other day when I wash my hair, and keep the Monistat on it all the time. Weird trick but it works!
Wow! Learn something new everyday..
Yup, another SWer turned me on to that and I Googled for more information... it really does work!
I think red hair rocks. I know what you are going thru, I have naturally red hair. I used to dye my hair brown. Then I had to dye my eyebrows to match. Then when my hair started growing out, I had brown hair and red roots. Eventually I gave in, its what I have and natural looks best on me. I think your hair is beautiful and unique. I think it might look nice grown long.
Grow it out long like mine:

i think you look good with red hair and i think a "black irish" look would also look great.
Thanks! Your long red curls are gorgeous, bbgrh!
^ I'm definetely going to buy some monistat today.. thanks for the tip!! :)
Yek- i'm very curious about the monistat hair growth, would it be too much trouble to write out how to use it? Does it go before or after washing? How long do you leave it on? Thanks!
Wash it, let it dry. Before you go to bed, part it in long rows and rub a dab of Monistat into the scalp, trying not to get it all in your hair. I make a part, rub in the cream, make another part about a half inch to an inch away, rub in the cream, and so forth. I have to get K to do the back for me, I can only get the parts that I can see. When done, massage your scalp to distribute the cream, and go to bed. It doesn't stink or make your hair all goopy, it just soaks right in. In the morning, just massage your scalp again and style your hair. The next day you'll need to wash it and start over.
It cures dandruff too, apparently. Makes sense, it's an antifungal so it'll kill any fungus, not just vaginal yeast. I get the generic tube for about $10 and it lasts a good while.
Thank you so much!!
Thanks a million for the tip about the monistat, I put some on my scalp last night and you are right, it sinks right in, and doesnt make your hair all goopy like you would expect. What a wonderful idea, too bad you cant somehow market the idea for profit....
