tips for working in a mostly black club
When I started working at my club (Gentlemen's Club 70) 5 years ago we had a lot of white girls with not too many black girls. We had a full range of music to dance to. We didn't really have to work the floor to earn money. We didn't do lapdances (and still dont). For the past year we have lost most of the white girls--I am one of 5 left. I love working with my coworkers (except the ones who flash for a dollar but that's another thread). I've been dancing for 6 years. My question is what do I need to do to make more money and have the guys pay attention to me more? I don't make what I used to. I'm guessing I need to give up the classier outfits and go for booty shorts and bikinis now. I do wear them some but not all the time. I have plenty of booty and boobs (I'm "thick" according to many since I'm athletically built) and I do dance to R and B. Usually the guys only give me a couple bucks but to the other girls they "make it rain" so it makes it harder on me.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
if its a "black club" and your not black--- it should be obvious why your not doing well.
i say change clubs, if its about booty shorts and makin it rain, it might not be the place for you if your fancier or whatever.
i think you answered your own question, are you particularly attached to the place or somethin?

Please elaborate on your train of thinking...::)
Now as far as the o/p is concerned..if money is just not what it used to be then I don't think you should hold yourself loyal to a club that no longer makes you the money that it onced did.
As far as outfit changes goes..if your club is mostly a blue collar/neighborhood bar, then no offense but gowns and "classier" may not work. I'm not a bootyshorts kinda girl either, but I do wear dresses. Maybe you should change your makeup, or outfits up, or how about hair...Maybe you should start dancing to more "upbeat" music and not the slow r&b.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
^^^^^^^people go there to see black girls and shes not black. thats my train of thought. peope have a certain prefrece, and its not the look she has. It seems pretty cut and dry to me. Dare I even say...duh?!
edit: I'll add that I'm not familiar with this type of club, ie black club, yellow club, blue club whatev...
but if its common knowlege that black girls, and guys that like black girls are the norm there--- then thats who probably does well there. Like if there was a "mexican club" and I dont speak spanish; i wouldnt do well there, and I would leave

Actually it isn't that cut and dry. That's like asking a black or latina dancer why she even bothers to work in a majority white club...why because "duh" ::) they must not be the type that white guys want to see...so dare I say...why are they there?
Men come to strip clubs to see variety. How many times is that very topic discussed on this very site. Have you ever been to a mostly "black" club..dare I say..."duh" no...lol if you had you would know that they have a variety of women there. Black men are attracted to black, white, asian, latina, etc...just like some white guys are...
Your train of thinking is...Dare I say....just ignorant...

True. My club is predominantly white and whenever we have a girl who isn't white she seems to do really well. We only have one indian chick and she is very popular. Only one asian chick too and she is always busy.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
lola, I think you missed the part about the club being mixed. Some white girls have moved on but it's historically mixed. She's trying to get back the cash flow she and they once had.
I've gone through this and I've found you have to switch up your costumes, hairstyle, etc. You'll also have to pay very close attention to who gives you the best attention and cater to them. At this club you may not appeal to the show-offs who make it rain. You might appeal to guys who just want to talk to you and give large tips quietly. I don't think it's a racial issue though, ujust a matter of differing tastes. I've seen white latino and black guys make it rain. They like what they like but they are not the only ones in the club with cash.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
I've got a couple of good lines that I'm going to borrow from one of only two black girls working at my predominately "white" club. Her opening line is, "Do you like chocolate?" It hardly ever fails, except for when I overheard some first timer totally not get it and reply, "I'm allergic to chocolate!" Another line she uses us, "Can I make an Oreo with you?" I know it sounds corny, but this girl cleans house every night with these lines.
Also, I don't know how your club works, but whenever I'm not making money on stage, I'll my customer at the time (say he owes me $200), cash in that money for dollars and "make it rain" when I go onstage. It's always a thrill to the customer you're dancing for, to be the center of attention because everyone thinks he is just throwing the money up there and no one knows he actually owes you that, plus, the other customers are attracted to the tip rail to see what you're doing that is worth all "that rain".
Realize that you're a comodity. If you're different, that is good. Just be creative with your lines. Personally, I'm feeling like a Nilla wafer right now.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
I disagree about the "variety" thing as far as black clubs go. At black clubs, guys go to see a variety of black girls, not a variety of girls in general. At a mixed club, then all races can make their fair share, but if you jut don't fit into the look or the feel of the club no matter what you do... then move on.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
Working at a black club, white club, chinese club you need to change your hustle. I work at a black club and I first started with the smiling and chit chat but I wasn't making as much as I should have. You need to hustle your ass off, make ur stage show ur main concern. Once they see how great you dance, then they want to see more. Change your music and change your hustle. It doesn't matter if you're white, stop looking at what the other guys are spending and get your money. Its no longer how pretty you are but how hard you work for your money. if pole moves are your strong points, work on it and tweak it to make a show. Flirt, be raunchy (not whorish), look one guy in the eye and sex him up to a hot song. Your $ will definitely change.

No offense, but how the hell do you know?
Why should the taste or "variety" of what black men like totally be opposite of what white guys who come into a "white club" like/dislike?
When I worked at a "black club" once, it was often fill with 10 black girls, 6 white girls, and about 8 latina's...WE ALL MADE MONEY!
Listen, folks can't talk about variety is the spice of life when they wont' even sprinkle a little on...

First off, I'm totally loving the "making an oreo with you line" :D
Drewcifer: I've never thought about having my customer cash in the money he owes me and let him "make it rain" on me...I would only do that with somene I "know" I'd hate to have a stranger cash it in and never come up to tip :O

I live in one of the most segregated cities in the country as far as strip clubs go, hell even our night clubs are segregated like it's the fucking 1950s. A white girl would not make money in a black club unless she had an AMAZING stage show and fit the particular look of the club, and even then she would probably do better at a mixed club. I've been to a lot of the "black clubs" here, and in my opinion, that is the case.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
i sometimes go work at our sister club which is a "black club"..i'm not black, i'm asian and everytime i go there I BANK...there a few other asians..few white girls..and few latinas and we all bank.. i think it's good money wise to be different.. like at my home club which is a mixed club but predominantly white..the few black girls that we have BANK...
the hustle is just different..and i'm not tryna stereotype cuz it can be different at your guys's clubs but i feel at the "black club" i have to be more aggresive..more sexy...and at the "white club" i feel i have to be sweeter and nicer.. i dont know =/
i would think you'd do good being being in the minority of a certain club..but i dont know..just change your hustle..see what the crowd wants, whether black, white, asian,hispanic..and mold your hustle for that night according

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
^ asian girls are more than welcome at any club, you must admit.
-
Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
i mean, i dont know.. like are you saying they're more welcomed compared to other ethnicities who are put into a club where they're in the minority?
i honestly cant say, it all just depends on the taste of the guys..that doesnt mean black guys like asian girls more than white girls... if asians are more welcomed than white girls i think it's just cuz there's less of us in the industry.. blah i dont know..dont want this thread to get racially driven.
-
Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
It's because there's a shortage of Asian girls in the industry.

HERE HERE!!!! Atlanta truly is a sick city in that regard. Beautiful, intellectually stimulating, but truly the most racist, classist citites in the south of those that I've visited. So, having said that, your comments are dead on for Atlanta but, thankfully, they are off for other cities. There really very few clubs in the Ny/NJ area that are all black or latin. Most are a mix and in this area a white woman has a good chance at getting hired anywhere.

I think thats true of most metro areas too!

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
To CK, we both know there's a big difference between how things actually are and how they should be. I stand by my opinion that it would be unnecessarily difficult for your "average" white girl to live up to her earning potential as a dancer at a "black club". It would be easier at your average non-racially identified club. But then again I could see someone with a certain attitude, dance style, and look fitting right in, but I think she would be the exception to the rule.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
I'm in Atlanta and I work in black clubs and I must say that every white girl who comes through is ALWAYS busy. ALWAYS. BUT they never last long. I have my own theories as to why but that's for another thread. I think the OP should follow the advice given in this thread but also try out some other clubs for size and then make a decision about what works best. Or hell, work at a few different clubs.
-
Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
Viola, haven't you heard of White Chocolate? She is a featured dancer at one of Atlanta's most popular clubs. You're off on this one. I promise you every black club is not like those you've seen. Even in black men's magazines they feature white women. They are equal opportunity horn dogs just like all other guys! :P

it's also to do with societal norms of what's considered sexiest/most attractive among 'ethnic' (not-white) women.

Re: tips for working in a mostly black club
I've seen white dancers stay pretty damn busy at a few black clubs I've worked at. Especially is she partners up with another black dancer, the cash was hers for the taking. So it doesn't work like that at every club, black men only want to see black dancers. As long as she can dance to the music, there should be little problem. It is unfortunate the OP's club is not similar.
