"Hey, can you give my friend ADVICE? She wants to STRIP"
I swear if I get approached by one more person like this I'm going to scream. My ex-best friends' (long story, and another thread lol) sister in law wants to become a dancer. So my friend, lets call her Cindy lol tells me about how this girl is desperate for some money (umm who ain't) and that she wants to strip to get her money in order.
Ok, so am I wrong to NOT be on the, "come on girl and be a stripper" bandwagon? I personally don't see the need for anyone to join this industry especially right now with the way our economy is. Am I wrong for that?
Am I wrong for telling this girl that dancing is not all glitz and glamour and that yea she may be cute, but she still may not get through the front door? Am I wrong for telling her that being cute doesn't make you money..being willing to meet customers OTC, or low-ball your dance prices, or do non-legal stuff in the club is what makes you money? I know, I know..majority of us dont' have to stoop to these levels, and we still make money...BUT we all know the girls who do stoop to these levels to make their money.
Trust me, I so want to be supportive of any young lady who wants to try out this industry...but how can I when every night I go into work the amount of girls working grows, customers decline, and the money is stretched deathly thin?
Am I wrong for not having a more, hey come see for yourself kind of attitude? Or do I come off as a "hater" for telling her my views on how she may experience the strip game?

You're not wrong. I'm not on the bandwagon either. In fact, I'd try to steer girls AWAY from the industry, simply because of how bad it's been. Not just for my benefit either, though that'd be most of it. ;D
Re: "Hey, can you give my friend ADVICE? She wants to STRIP"
I don't think you're wrong at all. You're just being realistic and truthful with her.
Stripping is NEVER portrayed right in the media so it's not a surprise that so many naive girls think that stripping will lead them to make thousands of dollars each night. You should tell her how it really is.
When I first started thinking about becoming a dancer I went to a club with my best friend and her husband to check it out. Me and my best friend bought a dance from an older yet very beautiful dancer. After the dance I asked her some questions about this profession. Thankfully, she was very truthful - told me how it really was. Told me that it's possible to make hundreds of dollars each night but that it's also possible to leave work OWING the club money. She also told me some other things and I'm grateful for that. My first day as a stripper I knew exactly what I was getting into and therefore had no false glamourous preconceived notions about this environment.

charge a consulting fee. if someone wants personalized coaching from a veteran like yourself, why would they expect you to do it for free?

I think you were just being truthful. Would she want u to lie and tell her u make thousands every night and all customers treat u with respect and are not looking for extras? why would she want bullshit information? I'd wanna be told the truth. If she really wants to do it she will do it.

QFT. You are NOT wrong. I would tell her as it is. Most people have the completely wrong view of this industry since 99.99999% of the information out there is inaccurate. If I hadn't have had this site when I started I would have been completely fucked and was not born yesterday.
Most people who have financial difficulties often need to learn how to manage their money better. (I am one of these people). It would be more practical tell her about a book she can borrow from the library with sound financial and budgetting advice and give her the number of a good accountant instead of seeing stripping as a solution.

Wow. That's so true.
