I'm so lazy. What do you do?
This thread doesn't really concern people who have kids.
Since I've graduated from college, I'm not really sure what to do during the day, and I've been feeling like a lazy bum. I usually work 2 nights and 1 day per week. I guess I could work 1 more night or day, but the money during the day usually isn't worth it to me. I'd rather work less and make the same amt as I would be making working more!
So, besides the occasional stuff like manicure/pedicure, hair, grocery shopping, etc, what else is there to do?
I have applied for 2 part time jobs, but they don't really start up until fall.
What do you all do?
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
im in the same boat. i sit online all day, work 3 nights a week dancing, and dont have another job. im so incredibly lazy. and i dont even do anything fun. i feel like with all the damn free time i have i should go out and have a blast of vacations etc, but i dont becuase my bf cant get time off, one of us isnt feeling up to it or one of us doesnt have the money. i dont really have any female friends so a girl trip isnt going to happen.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
i work mon/wed/fri at a school, and dance mon/wed/fri/sat nights. that way those days are jam packed, and the extra days are for errands, tanning, nails, etc, go to shopping, horseback riding, or just lay around and do nothing because thats nice iwth my busy schedule.
however, noe that its summer, i'll be at the school mon/wed. im thinking about picking up thursday nights at the club. you can never have too much money as far as im concerned lol.
i do know what you mean though.. last week all i did was work at the club and it was weird. my days blurred together! i felt bored a lot.. but i just did stuff with friends, went out to lunch, worked out, got a lot of laundry done and put away.. stuff like that.
what do you LIKE to do? take that free time and find a hobby or something.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
Ooo working out is a good one! I haven't worked out in...well...ages...oops
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
How about reading? I am getting into some good books and I will usually get myself up and out of the house, go sit at a local coffee shop and enjoy a couple hours to myself. I think the key is to find things that get you up and out of the house. This way, even if the activity is just reading, you aren't sitting at home doing it.
Or you could sit in a park and read, take a walk, go for a jog with some good tunes, go to the beach (if you live near one,) see an afternoon movie (the prices are cheap during the day,) go try a new restuarant or hit up a book/music store (relatively cheap and lots of fun if you find something good.)
I'm trying to deal with the same problem myself and these are things I am doing to keep me out of the house :)

and that can take up a good part of your day. like i like to do pilates or some sort of toning, and then cardio afterwards. i dont do gyms, i do it all in my living room! i have comcast so i have exercise tv on demand, but i have tons of good, not cheesy, dvds too.
also you could read a book or watch a movie youve been wanting to. my days tend to get away from me and i never get to do things that i'd enjoy bc i waste away on the computer!
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
On my days off I'l go to the gym if I feel like, soak in spa and relax in sauna, SLEEP!, rent movies, play with my cat for a couple hours, cook/bake, run errands, see friends, sew something, clean house, and practically everything else I don't have time to do on my work days. But usually I just end up sleeping most the day away and laying on the couch watching movies. I too am very lazy :)
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
I'll be volunteering. That might be fun and rewarding for you. :)
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?

i feel suuuper lazy on my days off, i sleep until at least 2, sit online, watch tv or a movie, give myself a mani/pedi, pluck my eyebrows, waste time/money at target, blahblahblah.
i start summer classes in 3 weeks though, so i'll be wayyy busier, and i'm actually excited for it! yay!

oh im the same way. i would love to volunteer. but i'd come home with a new kitty every day. i cried in petsmart last week.. you know how they have the cages where the shelters have animals up for display? there were these scared to death little kittens and i bought a case of food for them since the shelter is running low since its kitten season. the lady ringing me up asked how many cats i had and i said just 2, this food was for the ones over there. and i started crying. i looked like an idiot.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
Exotica, are there any projects around the house that need to be done? Like things you have put off in the past cause you were busy?
Like, rearranging/organizing your closet, for example. I am not sure if you own a house or rent and apt, so alot of things like painting or redecorating a room might not be valid.
I am kind of in the same boat as you, only not by choice. I don't have a car right now, can't find a job (mostly cause I don't have any transportation to do so) I am stuck in the house 99% of the time and have managed to not go crazy by doing various projects to help my friends out whom I live with.
I've cleaned up the back yard, organized a few closets, cleaned and organized the fridge....
Not FUN at all by any means but it passes the time and keeps me sane.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
To pass the time since I've moved, I enrolled in three different fitness courses at the community college. I take yoga, pilates and a general health course. Its great for something to do just a few hours a day every day, costs very little (much cheaper than a gym) and gets me more motivated to build a workout routine on my own.
I know how you feel though. The time in between my BA and moving was two months of literally sitting on my butt flipping through the news channels. We used to live in a pretty remote side of town on a huge hill. Even if I wanted to go for a walk, there was nowhere to go. I was just a cooped-up housewife. It was pretty lame.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
Thanks for all of the suggestions!!
Britt...omg, after I read your response about exercising, I literally turned on the TV and did some kickboxing stuff. It's embarassing to write this, but I'm so outta shape that I couldn't go on after 10 minutes. I literally felt nauseaus and my jaw got tight or something. That's so sad. I'll keep doing more each day, tho.
Cherrybomb, actually, when I was just plain taking a break from work for a couple of weeks, I did all of those projects (rearranging closet, shopping for house, cleaning bathroom really well, using this nifty purse hanger thing and sorting out my purses, cleaning bedroom, etc). But I'm sure if I look hard I can find something lol.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
Find a hobby or join a class. What do you enjoy ? Go to the library, work out or build on skills that are important to you or your future. This is a good problem to have, just get creative!

no dont feel bad! what kind did you do? it really takes time to build up that endurance. i used to HATE kickboxing, and in some of my older posts here i even said so. i started with other things.. more aerobic based workouts, cardio (basically just faster paced) yoga, the run a mile with leslie sansone thing (yeah so cheesy lol but it can help get you there!) before i could even begin to do kickboxing. tae bo kicks my ASS. even now. but at least now i can DO it, whereas before i literally didnt feel like i could keep going. not to mention yoga/pilates etc helps with balance which is important for kicking.
you have to start somewhere! :)
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
Oh yeah, that's right...it wasn't kickboxing. I always get tae bo and kickboxing mixed up...not sure how. It was the fat burning thing with Billy Blanks. hahaha that sounds like a bad porn star name. wow they have a run a mile thing on there? that sounds pretty cool actually.

i think theyre kinda the same. i put them in the same category, at least! billy blanks, though.. i feel like i just got out of the shower im so drenched, literally like 5 minutes in!
the run a mile isnt a heavy duty workout, but it can help build you up for more cardio. you have to start slow, you know.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
I was in the same predicament for a year after I quit dancing. I had a part time job and not much else going on. Now I'm back in school and working full time, not so much free time anymore.
I took up a couple very practical hobbies. I learned how to make home cooked vegetarian meals. From scratch. Like, no processed stuff at all, not even canned soup! That is pretty fun and inexpensive hobby. I checked out cookbooks from the library, planned my menus and got busy cooking.
I also learned how to garden and landscaped my yard. My lawn is lush and green and beautiful! I don't use chemical fertilizers or pesticides, either. It is easy to spend a couple hours a week just working on a small lawn. This year I have removed all my annual flower beds and put in food gardens instead. I'm starting to get some salad fixin's from my back yard now:) Yum!
This year I'm working on making a solar oven from an old broken barbecue. It will finally be warm enough to use it this weekend. We'll see how that goes.

Exactly. I was thinking...oh I dance, this should be NO PROBLEM!! um...yeah...there was def a slight problem :-\
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
I just started working out too. I pretty much just sit at home on the computer or tv but I bought an excerise bike and some weights and have been doing that in my spare time. I only work 3-4 days a week because my club is an hour away and it's so hit or miss, I have trouble getting the motivation to go in but I'm so freaking bored at home.
Re: I'm so lazy. What do you do?
Take some classes, learn to paint, sew or bake. I took Wilton cake decorating at Michaels, it was fun. I also ended up showing my little shih-tzu.:P
