I can't help posting this.
So K and I just got into a little argument regarding the merits of the 1993 hit "Informer" by Snow (who you younger kids might know as the precursor to Eminem and Mickey Avalon, and you older guys might know as the guy who followed Vanilla Ice). So I pulled the video up on YouTube, and then I found this fucking BRILLIANT gem by Jim Carrey. Fifteen minutes later, I'm still laughing.
(And the original, if you have no idea what I'm talking about.)
Re: I can't help posting this.
I always thought it was "and farmer, i lick ur boom boom there".....but i still liked it :/
Re: I can't help posting this.
BAHAHAHA... that's awesome.
K gets annoyed with me because I can never understand song lyrics. Seriously, I have to look up the lyrics to Prince and Bowie songs because I can't understand what they're saying. (I have a weird hearing thing, I have to lip-read TV shows or turn on the subtitles for movies half the time because I have a damaged eardrum.) But oddly enough... I understand every word of this song. Beee-zarre.
Re: I can't help posting this.
Our DJ plays "Informer" as a joke and I wonder how it got to be a hit. I assumed Snow was trying to imitate Carribean patois.
Re: I can't help posting this.
I just looked up the lyrics. Oddly enough, even with the lyics right in front of me I can't follow them...
[CHORUS:]
Informer
You know say daddy me snow me-a (gonna) blame
A licky boom-boom down
'Tective man he say, say Daddy Me Snow me stab someone down the lane
A licky boom-boom down
Police-a them-a they come and-a they blow down me door
One him come crawl through through my window
So they put me in the back the car at the station
From that point on I reach my destination
Well the destination reached in down-a East detention
Where they whip down me pants look up me bottom
Um, what? That parody was classic. He nailed it.
Re: I can't help posting this.
Thanx Yek!! I had forgotten how funny Jim Carrey was on "In Living Colour" before the $20 million movie deals. As far as "Informer"....I gotta go with a nice try at being ghetto fabulous....just ended up being ghetto tragic. When I needed white boy epic failure for comedy relief during a shift....it is hard to beat Vanilla Ice for the go- to but that comes mighty damn close!
Re: I can't help posting this.
"ghetto tragic." I'm going to find a way to work that into a conversation somehow. too bad blkbarbie got banned, it would have come in handy in her threads.

With some Das EFX (a la "Mic Checka") on the side for good measure...

Re: I can't help posting this.
"In Living Color" was great. I ended up purchasing the dvd sets that came out.

Re: I can't help posting this.
OMG...Snow!Bwhahahaha! I could never understand that song. My friend's mom was deaf and had the closed captioning, so we had watched the video on her TV just to try and find out what the hell he was saying.
Wonder what happend to that guy?
Re: I can't help posting this.
^^According to VH1, which had on one of those "Where are they now" shows recently with him on it, he's married, has a couple of kids and lives out in the burbs somewhere in Middle America...and still does that song every once in a while for the neighborhood kids! LOL
I'm with whoever said they couldn't understand him, though. The first time I heard this song, I thought I heard something like "and then he boom boom down." Okkkayyy. Whatever that meant! (Course the real words aren't any better!)
