You just get the Internet to your house by whatever service is available to you and has the best deal at the time. Then you get a wireless router off eBay or at the office eupply store, set it up, and away you go. Of course, you also need a wifi card in your computer.
I have my doubts that you will find any Internet provider that will give you service without a contract. If you get one with a low introductory rate, watch to see what that rate changes to after the introductory period.
I get my service bundled with my cable TV. I wish the phone company provided DSL in my area, because then there would be some competition and the price might come down. But to get DSL, you have to be within a certain distance of a switching station, I'm beyond that.
