Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
i have arabic tattooed on my lower stomach and have caught a lot of flack for it from army/marine sorts. i have black hair and when i tan i do look a tad middle eastern.
it kind of cracks me up when they think i am middle eastern and then i tell them im german/ukranian.
people are stupid.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
And even if you were middle eastern, who cares? You're American now. Cheerist.
I've gotten a lot of 'national'ism from Australians towards Americans though.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
lady explicit- it'll be easier for you in LA than in OC, if you're supremely worried about this... :-\ but all OC boys have fetishes for whta they don't know, so you may want to try & capitalize on that.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
I danced for this awful guy once who was saying very racist things about an asian dancer at my club and he said if she came up to him to ask him for a dance he would tell her to fuck off.
Thankfully thats the only incident I've witnessed.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
there can be racism anywhere. with any type of job.
but that being said, i know alot of minorities(black, asian, hispanic, etc) who BANK at the club.
Every guy has different tastes so i would say you will do fine :)
Im blonde, but when i dyed my hair red one time i did so well cause i was the only red head in there at the time. (hmm maybe i should go back to that!!)
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
I have seen racism, sadly. Some of the clubs in my area I have heard will only allow 3 black girls to work at a time. Also, the same club prohibits rap music.

This is a start. I dont want you to give up on your dreams. If dancing is really something you want to do, do it. But realize that this is reality. Like I told you, no one cares if you are creole, french, indian, whatever..if they aren't into women of color, they won't be into you. That whole "well I look black but I'm not black" just won't cut it.
Good luck,
cK
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
This crazy ass dancer (who has some SERIOUS insecurity complexes) once asked a guy for a dance and he turned her down, only to go to the dance room seconds later with a black chick. She came over to me, trying to rationalize by saying "Well, you know why he went back there with her right? Because he's white, and if he says no to her it'll look racist and she might call him racist, so he has to say yes!" I was like.....:O ..... ::)
Oh and my Phillipino friend I danced with forever once had this total asshole say something REALLY fucked up to her. She approached him and was very nice and sweet, and he said something like "God, what is it with you people? Its like you're taking over everything" (or something to the extent of Asians were infiltrating the area). My poor friend just started crying and walked away. When the bouncer asked her what was wrong, she told him and he kicked the guy out!! WOohoo!
ETA: Oops I think I read the OP wrong, if she was asking if we personally have been the target of racism, no I haven't (I'm white btw). Sorry if I fucked that up, just woke up sorry!

What could australians possibly have against us Americans? :O
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
Uhg, my club is like this: They actually have a certain ratio/number of black chicks they will hire, and no more than that is allowed.
Of course, they only allow a certain number of gothy looking white chicks also, so who knows.
We have an Asian bartender and some of the shit I overhear customers saying about her would catch your ears on fire. I'm all for cultural fetishes I guess but sheesh, have a little class.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
I got shit for having pale skin from some black guys. :O You think an ethnic race that doesn't like to be discriminated against would avoid doing that themselves.
Well bigotry is not just for whites.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
Racism is everywhere. People are pretty stupid in every city and country. I personally think that you're a little more aware of it if you're a minority in your area (whether you're white, black, brown, whatever), I used to live in a Latino/Asian-dominated city, lots of racist jokes/stereotypes directed towards white/black/other.
Anyways, the answer is yes, there is racism. But I get more shit for being Asian at my cafe (my second job) than at the stripclub, comments about being "a member of the yellow race" and flying the Confederate flag and stuff. At the stripclub, people who don't like Asians usually don't terrorize me (probably because bouncers are around). And people who have Asian fetishes (I still consider this a form of racism, but beneficial to $$$-making) are more than happy to tell me so.
But no, you shouldn't be worried about it, because because "exotic" actually gives you an upperhand in stripclubs, as long as you can play off your personality well. It makes you different and catches peoples attention, and then they're curious about you and your body and just how wonderful you can be.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
I was friends with this dancer who used to dance in Greensboro, North Carolina. She dances at my club in Minnesota and said that she didn't think she ever danced for a black guy in her whole career. She asked me once if I thought it was risky to get caught dancing for a black guy because it might hurt your chances making money off of white guys for fear they would think you are "really trashy if you are willing to give a dance for a black man." The most ironic thing about it is she is married to a black guy! But I was like...uhh..actually no! To be honest, that thought never crossed my mind..EVER! Here in Minnesota people are pretty racialy tolorant well, at least compared to the south. But I'm only half white and definatly look exotic so I look more latin than anything eles and I dance for white guys and men of color all the time..hmm..sometimes even some guys from the south. I never had a feeling a customer was being cold to me because of my ethnic make up, in fact, I've found it an asset because the men seem more intrigued than anything eles. She is a white woman so maybe in the south white men don't like any interracial interaction. ?? So maybe white women feel that self conciousness, honestly I never have. I've never turned down giving a dance to someone because of their race. I've never felt anyone was judging me either.
I guess the level of predjuduce and intolorance really depends on your area because Minnesota is pretty decent for many types of women to make money. Makes me glad I'm not from the south though. I don't think I'd like it there too much! It's 2008 and it's werid to think of how life two or three hundred years ago still can influence people's perceptions in today's day and age.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
It goes both ways. There have been times I wished I was black, cause they were the only girls getting tipped on stage or getting dances.
I've never seen any discrimination when it comes to hiring processes anywhere, strip club or not. I guess I've just been lucky cause I do know that it happens but fortunately haven't seen it.
I hate to be lame and say "depends on the club" but that's all I've got.
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
hell yeah I've experienced it!!!! a lot out here in vegas never anywhere else oh yeah in texas 2 but duh what did i expect there
I've had managers out here tell me they werent hiring anymore of me and when asked what did they mean they said were not hiring anymore "black girls"
what I'm about to say some might disagree w but fuck it its what i see and feel you not black so...you should be good....honeslty they look at your mix and call u exotic im black puerto rican and italian mixed and I'm light skinned they look at me and don't call me exotic they call me black
so my opinion ur not black your good if u look black make sure u let them know ur race upfront as fucked up as that sounds
girl i went back to the same place 2 nights ago wore my hair curly and spoke w a spanish accent said Holla papi are you the hiring manager and was hired so...yeah that explains it all now dont it

honestly no female would ever be able to say anything dumb like that to me i would honestly just slap her in the face and tell her to stop being jealous end of the story and instead of sitting here talking to me wouldnt it make more sense to try to get back that money that you just "lost" by getting another customer...

Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
I was talking to a young white guy one Friday night, and I knew he was going to get dances for me I could just tell :P There was a girl on stage who is Brazilian, and he says, "I don't like Mexican girls, I don't like black girls, I don't like Asian girls, I only like white girls."
I'm Puerto Rican!
But I knew he was going to get dances so I told him after the dances were over that he just got his first dance from a Latina. hehe
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
Two girls in a club i used to work in one was phillipino the other korean. Neither could speak english, neither could dance, (we would all cringe when they attempted pole tricks cause they would fall on their heads every time) most girls disliked them because they would constantly break the rules, (grass cutting etc...) but would bank every time, $1000+ a night. In a primarily white club it made sense though. i've noticed alot of girls in australia are racist against indian men only one hasn't grossed me out in some way i try to talk to them but end up walking away every time cause they've said something i find disgusting and most girls i've worked with agree.

Are you serious? I don't know if you realize it or not, but the whole world thinks Americans are a bunch of warmongering Bushites who have no regard for any culture but their own. And unfortunately, for the most part, they are right!

good girl:) must have been a great feeling huh?
Re: Racism in Strip Clubs?
Yes, theres racism everywhere and in every industry. But you don't realise *just to what degree* racism exists in our society until you work in a strip club, imo.
* blonde white girls with huge tits tend to make the most $
* no matter what race the dancer is, middle aged white men are the customers she seeks out because they tend to be the best spenders
* while people tend to be be attracted to those who resemble them, asian men are known to prefer white, blonde strippers - caucasian beauty ideals are heavily ingrained in all other cultures
These are all stereotypes, but they exist for a reason. Theres still A LOT of inequality in America, especially on a financial level. And from personal experience, it's black women whom I've heard customers criticise above anyone else : (.
Don't get me wrong, theres girls of all races who are making great $, and by all means follow your dream and get out there! But just brace yourself for a lot of ignorance and assholes.
