upscale nyc clubs...worth it?
I'm pretty happy with the club I'm working at right now, in terms of being able to pull $1,000 on weekend nights. That amt is common at this club, due to high dance prices. But I'm curious about the upscale NYC clubs because it sounds like earnings there could be even higher. Is that true? What are the dance prices like?
I have read a lot of stuff on this board about how the bouncers are assholes and the club takes a ton of money. I'm wondering...also...is it worth working upscale in NYC?
Re: upscale nyc clubs...worth it?
yeh i would like to know too!!!!
where are you at that 1k is easy to pull on a weekend???
i am ready to travel....... thinking about new york for a month as well
Re: upscale nyc clubs...worth it?
given the expenses involved in getting to and working in Manhattan, and given the controversy now taking place with Scores (with as yet unknown but possible LE / IRS investigations of other clubs), if you are currently earning $1000 a night at your 'home' club a trip to Manhattan probably isn't worth the risks. Your timing is also bad since July and August are typically 'vacation' time for bankers / brokers / corp execs ... meaning that if they are going to clubs at all it will be in the Hamptons or on the Jersey Shore not in downtown Manhattan !

^^ Thanks! Time to hit up Delilah's Den then? Or the Atlantic City clubs?

Then again, you get one shot deals like Rick's where a top sports agent bought out half the VIP rooms for 3 days and a LOT of All - Stars were and will be in attendance. It's "all hands on deck" for last night, tonight and tomorrow night.
That's like 100 girls.

All-Stars don't equal money. In my experience, sports figures and celebrities are more likely to drop a bigger tip for the bar tab than on the dancers. They might get half a dozen bottles and then pretty much ignore the girls. Factor in 100 girls... and what ever money there may be gets spread even thinner.
So yeah. looks great for the club and everything but not so good for the ladies.

It depends. Ballplayers are like everyone else. Some are cheap; some want it for free and some throw it around like confetti.

i gotta agree on that one. i have had some tremendously good ball player customers and some tremendously rude horribly cheap ones. there is no real guarenteee.... and i haaaate it when the club is trying to make it appear like the money is guarenteed cus they are there. you are more likely to be guaranteed dough from a low key loner with deep pockets rolling in on a night with few girls (mondays have been my best nights for years) than any night where the club is packed full of celebos and wannabee ballers who penny pinch cus their wives are just looking for an excuse to divorce and collect alimony. infidelity=grounds for divorce......... hi profile job= getting caught easily........... Most of these guys dont even have to pay for pussy but have the mentality that if they are gunna spend dough they better be getting off. do the math. it doesnt add up to much for the dancers. at least the odds are slim
Re: upscale nyc clubs...worth it?
To get back to the question-
I agree with Melonie. I don't know what your 'home' club is like, but Manhattan can be difficult, in more ways than one.
For starters, you have to get hired.
Then you have to have a place to stay- and where you stay is key. You want to be IN Manhattan, because taking a cab or driving outside the city is a bitch. Parking in Manhattan is nuts.... $25 here at Penthouse, but that's CHEAP.
Just the living expenses and stress of it all can make it not worth it.
Plus there are house fees up the ying yang here. A fee for this, that and the other. Makeup, hair, house fee, dj, tipping bouncers...blah blah blah. If you aren't used to it, the clubs can be a stressful environment.
Then there are the legistics of just making your way through NYC clubs. It can be tough here, so you have to have a thick skin. As nice as I think the girls are here (I am NOT a dancer), I hear back-stabbing stories left and right. Lots of clicks.
I don't want to deter you from trying NYC, but if you are making $1,000 on the weekends where you are, and you are happy, stick with it. That's a lot of $$$.
Re: upscale nyc clubs...worth it?
If you have a free place to stay in NYC then usually yes it is worth it. Unless ofcourse you are already making over $500+ ater tipout at your home club more often than not. The cost of staying in a decent, safe hotel is what cuts onto the earnings so badly for traveling dancers. Also be prepared to pay VERY high house fee's so don't come without back up money just in case it's a super slow shift.
