Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
Has anyone else fought a seller on Ebay for grossly overcharging shipping on Ebay, or for terribly packaging your items?
I spent over a 100.00 on a very expensive, heavy collector's book set.
The auction stated that the shipping was 20.00, which I believed because
the books are heavy and large.
When the books came to my doorstep, they were wrapped in one sheet
of brown packing paper and one sheet of bubble wrap! The paper was ripped and falling off, the books were exposed. The fucker could not even put my books in a fucking box??? God I just want to kick this guy in the nuts so fucking hard, repeatedly.
Not to mention he is such a snide, pompous jackass in all of our correspondence.
The books too FOREVER to arrive. He sent them Media Mail, and the shipping label clearly states he only paid 5.00 to shipp the books.
So he just gets to keep 15.00 of my money and its ok? I don't fucking think so, especially after the LOUSY packing job I should be getting a full shipping refund.
He says he will send me 5.00 for the shipping and that my dispute is "absurd".
I told him he is absurd for thinking he can scam me.
I thought about sending the books back to him for a full refund, then I will
loose more money sending them back. Then again he will probably only
give me a partial refund since he is such a fucker. I want to keep the books
I just want my shipping refunded and he is being such a little pecker about this.
Anyone had good luck with Paypal getting your money back for you?
I've never had this problem before.>:(
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
First, $20.00 is typical for mailing items. It takes time to wrap and drive to the shipping place. So, it's not the cost.
Second, shitty packing is unacceptable. The best you can do is leave a poor rating on the guy and move forward.
Third, check their comments and rating before buying.
I buy and sell a lot on ebay and rarely do I have a problem.
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
When you buy the item, you agree to shipping. Paper, bubble wrap, and time are all allowed to be included in the shipping costs. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to get your money back.
BUT, there is a place on feedback where it asks about the shipping costs directly and you can leave bad marks there. You can also leave negative feedback, which really does come at a cost to the seller if this was not a very rare incident on his part.

Not with media mail. You can use that to send books, CD's and DVD's. There's no reason why it should cost that much. Media mail is super cheap.
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
eBay charges a commission on the sale price, but not on the shipping. That is why some sellers set the shipping high. I bought a great cat carrier on eBay for $7.98, but the shipping was $20.00, and when I asked them to send it by mail at a lower rate, they refused.
Leaving negative feedback about the poor packing will hurt the guy's sales. Nobody wants to buy books that might be damaged in transit. But waiit unil he has left feedback about you so he can't retaliate.
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
A shipper can determine how much they want to charge in shippins whether it's ridiculous or not. If it stated the shipping charge, you took a risk bidding on the item. Really, all you can do is learn. Look into your seller really closely before buying, it's a price your knowingly paying. It's a bad move on the part of the seller, as repeated abuse of this system is likely not going to get him buyers, but for now he can do what he wants...He sent the books, you got them and they are in the condition promised-therefore the product you purchased is exactly what you got. If the shipping label would have said $25.00 would you have happily sent him the extra 5? Probably not.
I don't agree with what was done, but it happens and there's not much you can do. Shipping is a guesstimation. At least for me. I under charged 3 items for shipping....and no one offered to send more money...so if I overcharge one person a few bucks, then hell...that's what they agreed to pay in the first place.

However, if the seller was using PayPal they charge a commission on your shipping as well...and it's just as high, if not higher than Ebay's. I'm actually shocked that the shipping wasn't higher than that. Just because the actual shipping isn't the same rate, the items to wrap the product in have a fee as well..that's also part of the shipping rate.

sellers can't leave negative feedback about buyers anymore.
but yeah, a lot of sellers overcharge on shipping, but you agree to that price when you bid.
Shitty packaging is something else. That's unacceptable.
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
Yeah a lot of people hike up shipping to insane amount to avoid ebay fees. You agree to it when you bid. BUT...the shipping was unforgivable...they should have been packaged securely and safely. And media mail is super cheap BECAUSE it is SOOOO slow.
I'd file with paypal and file with ebay since you cant leave neg feedback for sellers anymore which SUCKS ASS because people abuse it now..like this.
But we had an issue with a buyer once..non paying bidder on a high priced item. We filed charges with ebay and she was kicked off.
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
You can report a shipping overcharge at the bottom of this page. I use it whenever I see obvious shipping scams, like DVDs with a $0.99 BiN and a $20 shipping fee. Probably doesn't do much good, unless eBay gets a lot of complaints about the same seller.

Actually she can leave bad feedback for him, he cant leave bad feedback for her. So in this instance it works in her favour. He can leave positive feedback with a negative comment, but ebay will delete the neg comment and leave only the positive feedback. I would def note how the items were poorly packed... and slooooow to arrive. If hes offering a refund at all, take it and leave neg feedback, paypal and ebay are fucking useless with this shit.

You are right..I had it backwards..you cant leave neg feedback for BIDDERS.
Yeah..leave him neg and report him to both
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
I reported him to Ebay which directed me to report him to Paypal. I have not left him a negative yet. I plan on it though because this guy is a real asshole.
I understand people have to pay for packaging items such as tape and bubble wrap, etc. But charging 15.00 extra for that? Its not right, and a shitty packing job to boot, is really lame. I just want to shove the books up his anus. :)
Re: Fuckface seller overcharging shipping on Ebay
$20 sounds about right for shipping of a heavy item in Australia but in the US everything seems to be cheaper so I wouldn't know.
Was there any damage to the books due to the poor packaging?
