Keeping Control of the Conversation and Always Being Closing?????
These are two related questions. First, when you get one of those guys who interrupts you constantly and/or asks a ton of questions, how do you maintain/regain control of the conversation? And second, how do you apply the principle of ABC (Always Be Closing)? I get the idea of it, but I have trouble applying it in real life.
Please don't tell me to just move on to an easier customer. Where I work, very few of the customers are "easy." Most of them are construction workers and others who have had to reduce their spending recently. Also, there are not many of them, so easy or not, I have to close a very high percentage of them.
Re: Keeping Control of the Conversation and Always Being Closing?????
Well, keeping control of the conversation is the easier part to explain. Each time there's a break in convo, you should ask the next question. when it's answered be sure to make it flow easily into a comment that will bring him back to focusing on the task at hand, namely buying a dance. ABC is the tougher of these two things. For each thing he says, immediately think of a way to bring that into closing for the dance. I know you've mentioned where you work, so I'm tailoring this post to you (smaller club/less customers) instead of a bigger club, where my advice would be to close quickly and be fast. I know that you can't be too fast or else he won't get a dance. So. Construction eh? Try this:
"So what exactly do you do for the construction company?"
"ooh really? mmm, I used to date this guy who welded, and I always thought it was SO hot the way he came home all sweaty, having worked a hard long day, and all I wanted to do was please him. Sometimes I'd totally just rip his clothes off."
"oh really, what would you do?" (most guys would go here, some wont, but they will probably be intrigued)
At this point you can either a. close: "Come with me, I'll show you..." and stand up, grabbing his hand, with a coy smile.
or b. continue the conversation. Either way, you have to bring it back to closing, to sexy talk, to talk of boobs and asses. If all else fails, ask what he prefers, "big boobs or big butts, or a bit of both?" That makes him focus.
I wish there was a larger club you could head to, colleen, or more customers.

DON'T let them prattle on. Interrupt if you must. Some of these guys want to filibuster you for as long as possible to get your time for free.
Re: Keeping Control of the Conversation and Always Being Closing?????
I interrupt them. Not rudely but just to make use of my time and his. I interrupt and say we can continue this conversation in the back.

This is exactly what I do too. And for the white collar travelor I say something like, "oh really, so that means I get to be your mistress huh" *wickedly sexy smile* Then I say something like, "come on I'm ready for our rendevous" or "come on I'm ready to go have some fun"
Re: Keeping Control of the Conversation and Always Being Closing?????
I've found that interupting is often best at these customers who go on and on and on........
Re: Keeping Control of the Conversation and Always Being Closing?????
I just stop them and say, "Gee, you SURE seem to ask a lot of questions, mister! (while smiling), "I might have to charge you for all that information. You mind putting some money where that mouth is? Let's cut to the chase...!" and, if you are sitting, get up and start walking towards the dance room while looking back or if you're standing, motion your head in the direction of the dance room.
After your dances, tell them you will catch them up later and that you'll make sure you give 'em your social (SS#). A slight hint that they are being too invasive and taking up too much of your time while remaining light-hearted.
If you DO go back to see if he wants more, gently chide him, "Ready for round two, mr. twenty questions?".
