How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
anyone??
I have been dancing for over a year now, but i danced in Portland as a "minor" (under 21, over 18) and was not allowed to walk on the floor, approach customers on the floor, sit and chat with customers.. nothing.
Regardless of these restrictions, I still made money, by doing an extremely quick, hello-how are you- what's your name-i'm gypsy and let's go get naked- hustle from the stage to get my dances.
I went to two clubs in the past week, and each time, I just froze when it came to walking the floor and walking up to customers, I didn't even know where to begin. I think once I'm sitting down and in conversation with them, I can do pretty well at selling dances, it's just these things I have trouble with :
a. picking a customer
b. approaching a customer... from the front? side? sitting on their lap??
c. do you just sit down or do you ask?
d. establishing conversation without being awkward.
I feel like I'm new at this and i've been doing it for over a year...and I can't even walk up and ask for a dance.
I need help quick- because I am going up to tampa on saturday and dancing at a high-hustle club and I can't just waste my time walking around and not talking to anyone.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
Well, you already know you came to the right place. Since you need FAST hustle tips, I suggest you read Chrissy's "Helpful Things" thread/sticky
a) I usually walk in the area of guys..if I see one in particular that is looking extra hard, I'll wink or smile and approach him
b) NEVER APPROACH FROM BEHIND: it is deceitful..and untrustworthy (also I don't sit on folks laps..why would he spend money if he is getting it all for free anyway)
c) I ask if they would "like company" "may I join you" but currently I use the 1st line.
d) Start w/ an intro. Hi I'm ____. What's your name" "So, what brings you in here tonight"

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
Seriously, I'd just grab my balls and "just do it" Even if it means "wanna dance"-ing until you get comfortable enough to start really actually hustling. At least your doing SOMETHING instead of letting your fear get to you.
Approach whoever you think will be most open to you first... then go down the line until you've approached everyone.
I think the most important thing tho is to just get your feet wet and after that your flow will start coming back to you. Whatever you do don't let the No's get to you and just learn from them.... but that goes without saying.
Smile and act coy. Go back to the basics of the hustle. Make it as easy for yourself as you can. :P Keep it simple and your fears won't have as much power.
Good luck this weekend! I hope you make some good $$!

really? the search function?? I've been on here over a year, and I know there's a search function. Why didn't I use it?? b/c my situation is pretty unique, and I don't think there's many girls who went from dancing in portland as a minor dealing with OLCC rules to dancing in tampa full contact.
and... there aren't. but thanks anyway.

You asked these questions. They've been answered over and over and over and over and.... That's why. Search the newbie lounge and HH.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
gah! that's not the point, keira. the point is, you asked Qs that have been done over and over and over... so do a search. you can't possibly expect people to respond to all of those questions in one thread! I said newbie seaching because while it's not that YOU are new but instead you are new to hustling as YOU said:

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
alright- so I guess the only way to make posts in SW anymore is to post about random, silly, ridiculous unrelated junk that goes in the lounge, LO and member's boards... because it seems like anyone asks a question related to stripping, a bunch of people jump on it and say to search.
Why don't we just make the stripping related sections an archive and only keep the unrelated stupid silly posts active?
because that seems like what is happening.
scuse' me for wanting to get live, up to date, personalized advice instead of sorting through thousands of threads on the individual topics that I'm asking about.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
ummmm... maybe to be a little more helpful you could suggest some search terms for her to try instead of jumping on her like that....
Just a thought

amen to that sister. i believe the problem is that we have "helpful things" and that's supposed to guide a girl through the wonderful world of becoming a billionaire. obviously we are not smart enough to know that everything she said is all we need. poor us

lol paris, she LISTED her search terms above. she obviously didn't search them, or else she would have found gold at the end of the rainbow. because when i searched exactly what she wrote, i found lots.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
I dunno last time I tried to search for something longer than two words this is what you said to me: "Also, you searched something too long and very specific. Think short words that define the long phrases, if you can do that." I was wondering if YOU could come up with some short terms to define the phrases that she used. You know... just for some ideas.
I'm just saying too... all you have to do is remind girls that they CAN search instead of getting on their case and being Biatchy to them and i think you'd get a lot less resistance and upset a lot less people.
BTW i'm totally not saying that your a biatch cause you've helped a lot of people out... I'm just trying to help you understand that the way your coming across isn't necissary... or becoming :O

But hustling tips are not like updates for your iPhones. Some things like 'how to close a sale', 'how to ask for multiple dances' don't change. Hustling tips from threads 3 years old are still legitimate. Many girls on here have mentioned going through here and compiling word documents with the tips that best work for the.
Why not try doing a search for every thread in HH that DW ever posted to? He distilled a lot of very good advice into his threads and has not been on here for about a year, so you may have missed some of those quality threads.
The best advice I would have for your situation is don't let the first hour or two get you down at work this weekend. You are worrying about it a lot and it seems like you might be setting yourself up for a downward spiral of anxiety.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
well i'm agreeing with keira that if we think we have all the hustle tips necessary here then why is the section still open for posts? if that's how it's gonna be around here then we should just let this section be read only

Okay, well, let me try to help. A lot of this is stickied, but some is my own.

the guy looking at you or looking bored. The guy with a scotch on the rocks or a water. If he's wearing leather loafers with no socks. SCORE! Something about these guys are always, without fail, money. I like guys with Blackberries and iPhones, but make sure he's not a poseur. By himself is good, but if he's got a friend that is in the process of getting dances or just went to the VIP. DOUBLE SCORE! If they just sat down and it's a large group, the guy who offered to open the tab or pay the first round.

front. Do you want to give him a chance to be distracted by anything other than you?

just sit as long as he's not giving you bad body language, but never sit if it's busy unless it's a sure thing.

Emily what is your ratio of "no" to "yes"?

I don't know. I never really calculated it, but I do get a lot of "no" for sure.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
I'm a huge dork and I've tallied up how many guys I hustle and how many say yes and average number of dances LOL. It helps me set goals of how much I need to make, translated into how many guys I am going to hustle.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
I never really bothered to figure it out because a lot of times I will get rejected and then later he'll get a dance, and then I try to upsell him (you know, quality over quantity.) All I need is 1-2 good "yeses" and I'm happy.
Plus I really do try to approach every guy (okay, I'm biased towards certain appearances and maybe not EVERY guy) and I don't really spend much time talking to customers that don't give me that money vibe. I won't give the type of attention some men require to say "yes" right away.
And that's fine, because I feel that someone in the room wants a dance from me RIGHT NOW. I just have to find him.

Re: How to hustle for a dancer that has danced for over a year but never had to.
In my tallying, I counted reapproaching customers and even approaching regulars as a "hustle." It's not perfect but it gave me a rough idea. I also tallied where in the club I hustled them and the outfit I was wearing. I only did this for a few shifts but the feedback I got was consistent each and every night. I now know which outfits to wear more often and what areas of the club to focus on first. It was a pain in the ass to do it but I have certainly reaped the benefits.

I think you got some good advice from Emily. I don't have anything to contribute, but maybe if you had titled your thread 'Attn: Portland Ex-Minor dancers' or something you wouldn't have angered the HH gods. :-\
As you can see, my post count is relatively low considering how long I've been on SW and how often I read it (everyday). That's because the responses are sometimes just plan rude. "That's been discussed. Try your search function. Ugh." "Umm, well, I did and nothing came up. Then I searched page by page and still found nothing rellivant. Sorry for trying to be interactive. I will now continue to read quietly. Thank you for gracing me with your useless reply." Alot of times I want to post and think twice and keep it to myself because of how hostle some threads get. I know I'm contributing to the problem with this post but this is getting silly. IMHO.
