Re: dancing without a pole?
Here is a similar thread I posted a while back
http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...highlight=pole
It was difficult at first for me since I'm not really that great of a stage dancer with out a pole. However I got used to it. Now I just focus on paying attention to the customers and the tip rail instead of getting caught up in doing cool tricks and what not.

Re: dancing without a pole?
Im at the pole maybe twice in a song... my f/w may not be great, but this job is all about practice, practice, practice. You may not have a pole at home, but we all have floors.... After a while it will come to you!
Re: dancing without a pole?
Yeah, Skye is right. We all have floors. The first club I started at didn't have a pole and when I saw that I didn't have not a clue as to what to do. But it will come to you. Trust me. Just practice doing some moves on the floor and everything will be a-ok.

Watch the other girls to get some ideas of what to do(and what not to do), they are an amazing resource in instances like these.

Agreed. Two clubs I began at had no pole and one didn't allow floor work either - you basically had to pose at that one. You can learn alot by watching the other ladies.
I rarely do pole work anyway - even if they have a pole.
Re: dancing without a pole?
;D we do it all the time in manhattan. no club with class in the city has a pole. this would explain why we can't wear shoes with platforms.:'(
Re: dancing without a pole?
A few ideas:
work out your legs. I started taking ballet a while ago and it really helped my balance when i was standing away from the pole. I felt more stable walking around in my big ol' strippa heels.
Get a sheepskin. The clubs I worked at that didn't have poles almost all the girls used some sort of padding but even at the clubs that did have poles girls would use sheepskin to be more comfortable on the floor of the stage... it's more hygenic too.
Practice by yourself... like they said everyone has a floor... and if you have a video camera try to record yourself doing like one song to see how you look and then just erase the file afterward if you don't want someone finding it. We actually adjust ourselves when we look in the mirror and it's hard to get an idea of what we look like with just a mirror.
Another one that I stumbled on recently to help figure out some more "erotic" moves. When your all by yourself dance to turn yourself on and then try to repeat the moves. So learn some new floor moves by the way that it FEELs to you rather than what it looks like. If it turns you on to move a certain way I can guarantee that the guys will eat it up.
Other than that... when you go back, whenever you catch yourself going back to the pole or trying to lean on something stop yourself as soon as you catch yourself doing it. You gotta break your addiction! Make a promise to yourself to learn a new way of dancing and just look at it that way.
I went from a club with a huge stage and a 20ft pole to a club where each girl had 3 square feet on the stage... if they were LUCKY! needles to say - no poles. Dancing styles vary from club to club so the more versatile you can be with or without a pole the better. It was a good question ;) Good luck!
