My first concert
Saturday night was my first concert ever attended...and it was GREAT!
We went and saw Rush at the Nissan Pavilion! Such a tame crowd..LOL but still a lot of fun. And the drummer....sigh
he is the BESTEST EVER...esp. LIVE.
Here's the DL on the Nissan Pav. if you ever go (VA)
GET THE LEMONADE!!! It's the best deal, and the best tasting lemonade ever. No fair/carnival place can compete.
Don't get the margarite/daquiri thingy. They don't have a liquor license and so they make it with wine. I felt sooo tired...and it was so acidic my stomach really hurt about 1/3 of the way through. It's VERY tart.
They BARELY search you in the door. Very easy to hide a flask if you're a guy, or a gal if you have sneaky pockets in your purse. They will search your purse briefly...but not intensly.
The rules on the official website say no bbq grills or alcohol...LIE! Charcoal fires were all over and alcohol is OK as long as it's in a plastic cup. They will make you get a plastic cup if they see you with a bottle/can.
Other than that it's a GREAT venue and I encourage you to use this concert venue if you get the chance.
ALSO there are ALOT of women's restrooms.

Re: My first concert
I went there a few years ago to see Jimmy Buffet, awesome show, but, it took over 2 hours to get out of the parking lot! And we left for the car at the encore, thought we could beat the crowd to get. The good news is the party in parking lot kept going after the concert!

Re: My first concert
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Only problem seeing Rush as your first concert though is everyone else will seem anticlimactic :) All three are incrdible musicians and having played together so long they put on great shows. I saw them (yet again) two weeks ago. I especially enjoyed the South Park intro for Tom Sawyer. Nice to see a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously. And the fanboys airdrumming with Neil Peart are pretty amusing

Re: My first concert
We luckily got out very quickly. We packed an "after show snack" and put the tailgate down and watched everyone else try to hurry out of the parking lot. In 30 minutes it was cleared and we didn't have a line to sit in. And it's totally worth it, not just for the line aspect..but it's really fucking funny watching drunk (and some sober) people looking for they're cars. PLUS..it was scary seeing how many people got in their cars to drive that WERE NOT ok to drive. That right there was worth the wait...not having to be on the road at the same time.
OH ... loved the Southpark intro as well. We were next to this guy that was ALL 80's. Mullet...cut off shirt, tight jean shorts, moon boots and even an 80's esque watch. The whole time he was either air guitar-ring, air drumming or YES even air keyboard while he rocked the night away. E was going to ask if he could teach him how to rock, and at one point I tried to ask if I could borrow his air guitar. I don't think he heard me though..he was just a bit into things. LOL

Re: My first concert
^^QFT. Rush was my first "official" concert when I left home for college (saw them in Miami in 1989 and it was AMAZING!) In subsequent years I've tried to catch them every time they've been through town, and saw them last July opening for themselves at a HUGE amphitheatre here in FL. They are also very nice guys, FWIW...I have a signed copy of Neil Peart's (drummer's) book that he wrote about his years wandering across the US while the band was on hiatus. Heavy stuff, but still incredible! That band RULES!

Re: My first concert
That's awesome that you got to see Rush... my first concert was in 1996: Alanis Morisette. Isn't it ironic?

For Chrissy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMQ8S2uHTlo
My first concert was Motley Crue, opening for Ozzy. Shout At The Devil/Bark At The Moon Tour. '84, I think? I was 11 or so. I saw Rush a couple of times over the years, always an excellent light show. The Presto Tour with the giant top hats and magician's bunnies was fun.
