success coming off Effexor
So, I post quite a bit on Effexor and other anti-depressant meds. I have been suffering with fatigue and lack of motivation for some time now. I decided about a month ago to wheen myself off Effexor or at least to a lower dosage. I was on 150mg and now I am down to 75mg.:slaphappy I am seeing a new shrink and therapist now and the shrink agreed with my plan to lower the dosage by removing 20% of the beads in the extended release capsule weekly. She said for me to stay at 75mg and see my therapist once weekly until she gets back from vacation. It's working out really well with minimum withdrawel symptoms. I actually feel like doing something and have continous energy throughout the day. Things do aggravate me more than they use to but I'm glad I'm able to feel something again. Yay for me.

Thats really good for you :) I had to come off of Effexor too so I know how you feel. Good luck getting off of it completely, it won't take that long. Just stay strong, ok :)
Re: success coming off Effexor
Effexor changed me for the worse. I went spiraling downhill on that med. It was long ago when it first came out and they didn't have enough research on it. It was NOT meant for someone like me. And I was not told there was limited research with unknown side effects.
I wish you luck getting off of it!
Re: success coming off Effexor
Thats great news. Stay positive and remember to listen to your doc. Sometimes weaning off meds is difficult, and it may even take longer than you want but its for the best in the long run.
Good luck. :)

Hooray! It sucks playing around with psych meds (going on, dealing with side effects; going off, dealing with w/drawl symptoms), but when you finally find a combo that works for you, it feels so, well, normal! I had to go off of 3 different meds with this pregnancy (just on Celexa right now) and can't go on them again until I'm done breastfeeding. There's nothing I hate worse then tinkering around to find the right dosages (which ALWAYS seems to change) and am NOT looking forward to it.

Tapering off Effexor was one of the worst things I've gone through in my life, so I am really glad to hear this.
