problems with my apartment complex
so i live in a gated community and for a little 1 bedroom here its like 900$ a month. but we had some neighbors move in that have had the cops called on them multiple times because of noise and they are still not evicted. then just today there were like 5 cop cars outside going into another apartment.....do you think that i could easily break my lease because of this?
Re: problems with my apartment complex
What does your lease say about noise issues and the landlord's responsibility as such? Compare your lease to the local landlord/tenant laws. Even if you signed a lease that says the landlord has no responsibility, your local laws might trump the lease. You should also inform your landlord of the problem in writing, sent registered mail that requires a signature, and document every instance of the noise, when the cops were called, etc.
Breaking a lease is not easy and you have to follow very specific procedures or you could be the one in trouble for violating the lease. Tape record the noise from your apt too in case you need evidence. Good luck with this...it absolutely sucks.

If it's a gated community like a Country Club, it will have a Home Owners Association, call them and lodge a complaint. HOA are the worst.
