Re: dancing with friends?
I would not worry all that much. Maybe the club you are going to in SC is different but at many if not most clubs these days it seems that any girl who shows up and is willing to pay the stage fee "gets hired"

totally agree. OP, I think you should have this discussion with her. Don't allow her to join you at work if all she plans on doing is cramping your style. When I work with friends..we work the room solo. I dont do doubles.
Re: dancing with friends?
Thanks, I appreciate the responses. I'm still kind of nervous about it, but who knows, maybe working with someone I know will end up being a good thing
Re: dancing with friends?
I'm having the same issue op. I have a friend, well an acquaintance, that wants to dance with me. She has never done it before, and I've been doing it for about a month. I'm worried about the major drama that could happen too. Beyond the simply getting hired, what if she turns out to be a less then good dancer? Will her screw-ups reflect on me? does it work the same in a club as it does at any other job? I have no problem car pooling with the girl, I just don't want her to bring me down with her, if she does go down. Its not that I think she will I just want to cover all angles before I commit to her.
Re: dancing with friends?
I wouldn't be comfortable with it. Then again ... the friends who I know I dance support me , but think I'm nuts . They have never been in an SC and are scared shitless of them so it works out for everyone. They don't want details, I don't give details, everyone wins.
Re: dancing with friends?
Set the ground rules now!!! You don't want to be her only transportation! I've been there; done that. It gets ugly. She can take a cab or something else. It's fine to start taking her with you but talk about what will happen if one gets hired and not the other. Then, decide what youre going to do after that.
This is a recipe for drama.
Re: dancing with friends?
just figured I should give a slight update. It's working well so far. I don't like being her only transportation, but there aren't cabs where we live, and nobody else will give her a ride that at that time of night. I'm hoping that things work out to where she makes enough $$$ to get her own car, but that's about it. Thanks for the advice.
Re: dancing with friends?
I dance with my friend...and I like it. We make our money on our own... we'll talk a little if we run into each other in the middle of the club or in the DR... if its super slow we go on stage together and dance together to get some extra tips... but we are both there to MAKE money so we never get in each other's way. plus I like the fact that we take turns driving... saves me a little gas.
Re: dancing with friends?
ive worked with friends before. but friends i made in the club. trying to bring a friend to a new club i went to sucked because she didnt get hired and tht was pretty awkward.
going together can suck too.. i know that my old manager wouldnt hire just one if 2 girls came in together. if one was awful and he didnt want her, he wasnt going to hire the other.
Re: dancing with friends?
I almost always work with my best friend, and if anything we play off each other and I do better because of it. If I know shes banking, it pushes me harder to do even better, and not pout in the DR all night.
Re: dancing with friends?
The best thing about giving a ride is GAS MONEY. Make sure you're getting it.
That way being her source of transportation doesn't just help her out - it helps you out too.
Re: dancing with friends?
I danced with a good friend. We usually auditioned for the same clubs and got hired. Since we have different looks (she's very slender, small breast and blonde, I'm larger, big breasts and brunette) we aren't in direct competition. It was good having someone to go with me when I first started.
Re: dancing with friends?
I find it hard to work with my friends (girls I've befriended at work) because I just want to hang out all night.
Once I auditioned with a friend and it was awful. She got fired the first night because she was doing drugs in the bathroom, being really dirty in the back, and she left with customers. Oops.
Re: dancing with friends?
I don't think I would do as well working with a friend. I would probably do too much socializing instead of working. Also, our job is competitive in nature, and it would be awkward to BANK one night, and have your friend make diddly. Or vice-versa.
