Yeah there's that old expression eat Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper....
I know have to eat this way, otherwise by nighttime (like late night) I am starving and end up eatting a huge dinner or after dinner snack...
waaayy better to eat more earlier

I've been doing the opposite, eating lower calories in the morning and a larger dinner in the evening. Do you think 500-400-300 is a better way to distribute calories?

You need 5-6 small meals daily consisting of a healthy carb and a protein.

i eat a larger amount of calories for dinner if im working that night. the whole eat your biggest meal in the morning is for day job people, not for me since i dont go to bed until 4am when i work.

^^^ Good point. Eat your biggest meal when you wake up, regardless of what that time is; it gets your metabolism going so that you burn more calories throughout the day. Your last meal of the day (whether it's at 6 pm or 6 am) should be low in simple carbohydrates and sugars, because you'll digest too quickly and wake up, but you don't want to eat too much because your slowed-down sleep metabolism will store everything as fat. Eat the bulk of your calories when you'll be awake to burn them.

I disagree. 1200 calories is enough food (if you're trying to lose weight). I personally can't do 6 meals daily. To do so and stay under my calorie limits I'd have to eat 200 calorie meals, and I starve.
Eating often is good for your metabolism, but it isn't a question of enough food, it's when/how often you eat it.

Not if you exercise enough, those numbers aren't even close.
If you are working out like I do, 1200 calories daily is no where close enough, since you would burn MUCH more than that daily, and not have enough energy to finish out the day.
