I remember a story a while ago about a former prostitute who became a cop who ended up getting a lot of shit for it. It wont prevent you from getting in but if you make it known that you were a stripper, you can prob expect a hard time from female cops and male cops to think they can treat u a certain way.
Just keep it private.
Definitely keep it private. They do give you a lie detector test here in the US, before hiring you, but I believe most of the questions are related to your past experiences with drugs and run-in's with the law (I can double check with my hubby).
They give you a background check, oral board interview, and lie detector test at the very least. They do follow up on all prior employment that you claim. If you plan on going straight from stripping to police academy make sure you file your taxes and dance legally should you decide to tell them. If you dont tell them maybe get a PT job aside from stripping so they see youve been working. Of course if you don't tell them and they find out you wont be accepted into the academy or employed.
Ok so basically, just don't lie to them and do everything the legal way Ok, I was thinking of just doing stripping while i am also studying at tafe, therefore i dont really need a job because i can just say i was doing TAFE (that is studying)
It's up to you of course but I would advise registering an ABN and paying your taxes. Tax evasion is a criminal offense and strippers do get caught.
Don't you need a degree in something to become a cop? Fuck TAFE you gotta get to work, girlie! Dancing will probably be good for you, toughen you up a little... You're going to need it. And dancing is the kind of thing that could haunt you no matter what you wanted to do.. if you are unable to handle the situation when it comes up?
Also I'm not positive but I have a sneaking suspicion that female cops get attacked a lot. As in a woman is seen as the weak link in the chain and therefore the target for any violence. Without getting into it, I'll just say that... that's not my kind of thing. Mmm nope. Definitely not a fan of getting smashed in the face, so I wouldn't recommend it at all.
You know what? Lift some weights and become a Firefighter! Now there's a fucking noble profession if ever I've seen one! Yeah, don't be a cop - be a Firefighter.
Don't talk about dancing. My husband is a cop, and my ultimate dream is to become a police officer. Keep it private. I've heard of departments firing employees who weren't actually police for working in adult establishment. Just be very very discreet. And, um...it may be best not to claim your earnings either...you don't want your tax history to be traced back to whatever establishment you're working at.
1. When you apply for an ABN it's going to be on your tax history that you worked in adult entertainment.
2. Cops come into strip clubs. Not every night I work, but probably 75% of the time. In Brisbane. On the Gold Coast. For a free perv more than anything, so chances are if you worked much your future work colleagues will remember you.
The Police force is REALLY picky. My brother went through all the stops to get in, TAFE, UNI, ARMY etc, and couldn't even get into the NT police force. And he's a fit mofo. Any little thing like stripping could ruin your chances, and the worst part is you wont find out until you finish your TAFE training etc if it has fucked your chances.
