Palin declares Iraq war holy...
So much for the image of the USA being rational and Iraq/Iran, etc. being a bunch of whacko religious fanatics:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080903/...palin_iraq_war
"ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."
In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will." '
And Jesus says "Go get that oil!"
I was never under any illusions, since I read years ago that Bush Sr spent the night before his Iraq War in prayer with that pathetic sack of hot air and greed, Billy Graham, the television evangelist. And gladly publicized it. Granted we have a ways to go to catch up with the levels of fanaticism displayed by so many Iraqis and Iranians, but the way things are going, how much longer before we reach that level?
Maybe enough sane people will hold the nation back from the brink of declaring another Crusade, but clearly this would-be national leader is pushing us in that direction.

Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
She scares me, throw in her attempted book banning, her views on creationism, her views on abstinence-only education, not to mention her pro-life beliefs. Hardly somebody I want a heartbeat from the presidency.

Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
I'm sure she means well. Unfortunately she doesn't understand how the rest of the US works, much less how the world works.
I'd like to see her spend some time in the poorest parts of Detroit or Cleveland. I'd like to see her visit the homeless camps in Ontario, Ca or Portland Or. I'd like to see her visit Yuma Az or Brownsville, Tx. to see first hand the blight and poverty caused by the unwillingness of the government to address the immigration problem. And of course, New Orleans.
Has she even been out of the US? Has she ever visited a third world nation? China especially is where our leaders will need experience.
I don't know what McCain was thinking (unless it was the little head that made the choice). If she keeps pursuing a political career at this rate, she might be ready to serve in the white house in 8-10 years. But today she is absolutely clueless as to what is going on in the word around her.
Besides, what will happen to her family? Her 17 year old daughter is going to turn into a media nightmare along the lines of Britney Spears, I'm sure. As soon as that calendar flips on her 18th b-day it will be a paparazzi circus. A 17 year old with a baby has a hard enough life ahead as it is. Isolate her completely due to mommy's VP job, and that girl will likely have a very public melt down. Bristol was not raised in a wealthy and powerful family. She hasn't been prepared for public scruitny her whole life like other politicians kids are. Yeah, it's going to get ugly.

The last paragraph of your post is what bothers me. Where is the similar scrutiny for Obama's kids ? Nobody has asked how his two young daughters are going to be taken care of or raised if he is elected President. The scrutiny her family is getting is coming from the press. It is their lack of restraint and decency that will create the "circus". Remember how Clinton had to scold the press to leave Socks alone ? How the media surrounded that poor cat and shoved cameras into his face ? I'm not kidding. It was so indicative of the mindless pack mentality that sometimes hits the press.
Afaic her family situation is really none of anyone's business and press "DEMANDS" for a DNA test on Trig were so beyond the bounds of press behavior as to be ludicrous. Bristol's pregnancy illustrates that Palin's religion does not trump basic biology. And her carrying it to term demonstrates a lack of hypocrisy.

Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
Obama's kids have been prepped for public scrutiny their whole lives. Just like the Bush daughters, just like Chelsea Clinton. People don't generally make a decision to make a serious run for president on a whim. It is a life long endeavor.

His daughters like have their own press secretary; do they ? HOW have they been "prepped" ? WHERE is the scrutiny remotely resembling what Palin's children have been subject to ?
Every major network;every major newspaper plus a host of gossip tabloids and magazines have at least one reporter rummaging in the Palin garbage cans. They came up with her SS #; her daughter's boyfriend's blogs and more than one Obama campaign staffer has been caught up in feeding the media frenzy. Obama SAID that " families were not fair game". Let's see him PROVE it !

Oh give me a break! Obama's kids are still grade school age. :banghead: I don't think ANY of the kids should be trashed but seriously trying to say that going after the pregnant 17 year old daughter of a candidate opposed to sex ed would not be the same as going after K-6th grade child and you fucking know it too.
-
Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
^^Are you kidding me? You don't think any of the kids shoudl be trashed? Well you sure have been doing plenty of trashing yourself.
On another note, do you honestly beleive it matters that her mom is anti sex ed? For all you know she took sexed, was on birth control, and her boyfriend wore a condom. The two don't related. Quit trying to turn shit into something it's not.

What does their age have to do with anything ? Bristol is NOT running for office.
If Chelsea was off-limits and she was ( despite her documented rudeness and insults directed to her Secret Service detail ) then so are ALL children of the candidates.
You're not a member of the Palin family and what goes on WITHIN their family is NONE of your business. Why is that so hard for you to deal with ?

Well...I'm not for Palins daughter being trashed by the media.
But she is old enough to have sex and she made the choice to become a Mom to be.....so she can take on being an adult.

^^Oh, I got it, so you don't want it to happen. But if it DOES, that's COOL.:O

She's 17. S E V E N T E E N living in Juneau, Alaska. As for her "choosing", we don't know. None of us were in the room when the Palins discussed what to do.
Why isn't this a personal, private matter just as it would presumably be for you or anyone else ? Why is Bristol's sex life any of your business ?

I think it is a private matter. She is an adult if she has that baby.
By the way...Obama has been a class act towards the kids issue. Too bad Plain's liitle baby was passed around last night at the RNC like a bag of chips. There was no healthy reason for that little baby to even be in all the chaos.

Wrong. Not of the kids anyway. Mostly I have talking issues. Issues I disagree with her/them/people like you. Very little personal trashing going on from me at all. Especially as compared to some others.

Uhm, who the hell are you to tell me what to do? I'm a grown women who can do say, write and think anything I damn well please. Your not my Dad. You're not even a mod so where do you get off? I'm fucking sick and tired of several of you conservative men on this site trying to tell me and other women around here what to do think and say. What makes any of you think you have the right to try and control me/us like that? Nothing, that's what!
Next. It's a fact hat she opposes sex ed. And yeah I think that is an issue which matters to the health and well being of the country. Oh and yes I do think the two are highly likely to be related too. Statistics prove it actually.

How does having a baby make her an "adult" ? She still has to be 18 to vote and 21 to drink. Having a baby isn't going to her make any smarter or wiser.

If you don't get the difference between what their ages have to do with things then that is your problem. And I don't have problem with the kids being left alone. Quite the opposite as several of my posts have plainly said as much. Now you on the other hand. You seem to want to see the same bad shit done to the Obama girls. But I guess that is ok because they are kids of Dems :sarcastic
Bleh. this is stupid. I'm wasting my time discussing anything with the like of you or any other p.o.s. conservative minded man in general. I'm done with ALL of you except for this one last parting thought... :finger:

Why do the trolls leave right when it is getting fun?? We never even got to discuss the elephant that was cured of its heroin addiction...drats!!

Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
In the interest of equal time, I'd be happy if there was just a little discussion about Joe Biden's son Hunter in front page news coverage to remotely rival the front page news coverage that Palin's daughter has gotten so far ...
-
Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
nevermind. I pm'd a mod about it.

Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
Uh, war? Crusade?
:rotfl:
OK I should have known better than to start a political thread here, contributing to others is bad enough for a supposed mod.
It was slow when I got herebut isstarting to pick up now so I will leave you all with this--please vote for people who won't try to shut us down, or ally themselves with such swine...
fuck it took half an hour to post this I gotta go

I want ALL children of politicians left alone. Obama's kids; Palin's kids; Bush's kids;
CHENEY's kids. I'm just disgusted by the media double standard and blatant hypocrisy.

Re: Palin declares Iraq war holy...
Her kids would be left alone if she didn't support a dramatic change in public school curriculum. Her theories on withholding sex-ed haven't worked for her. So, people debate the wisdom of her stance. Notice they aren't investigating her other kids.

Then shouldn't they go after SARAH Palin and leave Bristol alone ?
Afaic there is nothing wrong with pointing out that unwanted teen pregnancies result , at least in part, from inadequate sex-ed and failing to use birth control.
The irony is that Bristol and her boyfriend seem to want the child and are doing the necessary. Palin and her husband are being supportive.
Bristol was supposed to have an abortion to avoid even the "appearance of hypocrisy" or to otherwise please YOU ?
