This is just simply fantastic!
I have a feeling Biden is going to make Sarah Palin dust at the debates.
He is GOOD at on the spot stuff and... well, she tells America she is a hockymom and insults community organizers.
Beautiful!! Of course he goes to Langhorne when I'm not freakin there!! Grrr! I always liked Joe Biden. I can't wait to see the debates with pork barrel Palin.
Here is how young people are responding to the RNC on facebook. This was posted on a fan page.
Good for them.

Right on Joe!!!
SapphireGirl, your avatar is effing AWESOME!
In the interest of equal time, the factual content of Biden's speech revolved around their proposals to increase gov't spending on various social programs, with the implied tax increases necessary to pay for them. Biden is a GREAT speaker (as is OBAMA), but not every audience will consist of partisan supporters. I am indeed anxious to see how the upcoming Biden - Palin debate turns out.
That is soooo not what the speech revolved around. Not at all. Not even a little bit. It was about how the RNC ignored the majority of issues important to the middle class voters. It was about they simply DON'T CARE about these things. About how they have very little to speak about to begin with and therefore very little to offer in the way of improvment or positve changes for the nation.
^^^^^
Actually, it was 50/50. Half revolved around pointing out ( rightly or wrongly ) Republican shortcomings. The other half involved proposes things requiring massive tax inreases to implement with no guarantee these changes will achieve the desired results. It was a very typical political speech.
But we have already seen that the tax breaks haven't helped either.
EXACTLY! It made things a lot worse for most of the nation instead.
But ok yes Obama intends to raise taxes on the top 5% of the wealthiest. Fine I’ll give the naysayer’s that much. But even then they would only roll back to the rates they were in the Clinton era. Other than that he plans to pay for things but cutting programs that don’t work, closing tax loopholes and ending tax havens and other similar actions that REAL fiscal conservatives should be welcoming not pissing on.
95% of us out here will have our tax rates either stay the same or become LESS not more.
So unless someone makes over $250 grand a year or is using loopholes and tax havens to get out of paying their fair share, they have nothing to worry about. And if they are making $250 grand a year and can afford to go back to the Clinton era tax rate then that is their own poor budgeting problem so go cry us a river about it. Boo fucking hoo!
So I've seen Biden speak out since the conventions. Obama went on the O'Reilly Factor right after the conventions and answered questions for the most annoying person on Fox.
I'm still waiting for the big bad barracuda to step up for an interview. ::)

Back to Biden’s point and what his speech revolved 100% around.
The RNC had little nothing to offer in the way of problem solving on issues with the exception of their offshore drilling idea. That idea is in many ways is ridiculous because it barely makes a dent in the energy problem. And that is not even going into the environmental impact of staying on fossil fuels.
The RNC energy plan keeps us dependant on oil rather than moving towards alternative sources. That's a is terrible idea on more than one level. Considering even if we got every drop of our own oil it wouldn’t cover even ½ of what we use so that means we stay dependant on foreign sources which is a national security threat in itself. Not to mention the negative impact staying just on fossils does to the enviroment.
Republicans have nothing to offer most voters and that is why they are so focused on personality and personal background. One of their top campaign people has OPENLY ADMITED that the RNC wants to make this election about personality and NOT issues. Why is that? Obviously it is because they are so weak (and that is being nice) on issues.
The main difference between the RNC and DNC plans is that the RNC wants to drill while we explore other options and the DNC just wants to explore other options.
Both parties are guilty of making this about personalities:
McCain = war hero, maverick
Palin = hockey mom
Obama = rock star, gift from God ( per Nancy Pelosi )
Biden = Mr. Regular Guy, rides the subway to work, knows the conductors by name
The truth is we are in trouble no matter who gets in.
Why is that? They think Americans are stupid and they do not care.
John McCain has one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington as his campaign manager. All the people running his campaign are the biggest lobbyists in Washington. John McCain will not change anything, he is no maverick....they "own" him.
Wrong. Seriously Bem, please do a little bit of research before you post. You can't just throw out talking points and not back them up.
Also, what's up with this whole "Lots of people like Obama, THAT'S BAD!" thing the Republicans keep bringing up? Now he's a rock star because he has a lot of support here and abroad and he's getting people excited? GOD FORBID!
[QUOTE=Miss_Luscious;1697615]Wrong. Seriously Bem, please do a little bit of research before you post. You can't just throw out talking points and not back them up.[QUOTE]
When I say Republican, I mean Conservative. When I say Democrat, I mean Liberal. Conservatives support drilling and exploring other options. The Liberals support only exploring other options ( ala Pelosi, and until recently, Obama ) . McCain's position is outside the mainstream conservative viewpoint, but he has relented somewhat on exploring for oil as that is the will of the people. Obama has also moved a bit to the center on new oil exploration for the same reason
The way people reacted to him on the primary campaign trail was a bit silly, but not necessarily bad. Honestly, I was puzzled by it, the fainting and all.
His "campaigning" abroad was a mistake. Those people can't cast a single vote for him. It actually hurt him in the polls. He aspires to be the President of the US, not Citizen of the World. How well he is received in countries other than ours shouldn't matter all that much. And essentially apologizing for America in front of 100000+ Germans for the way other countries may or may not perceive us is not what I think a President, even an aspiring one, should be doing.

As for people fainting over Obama....Have you ever seen how the Republican Christian conservatives act over McCain? They are crying, hands up in the air thanking God and Jesus. I find that more disturbing because Republicans like Palin say the war in Iraq is God's plan.
Arguably, this is a DANGEROUS misconception. For example, while dancers may not see the direct impact of a tax increase on their 'business' earnings, those business earnings themselves may decline as a result of tax increases affecting their customers' 'discretionary' spending. Similarly, a tax increase on their clubowner may cause him to postpone remodeling the club the dancer works at, thus attracting fewer customers and reducing dancer earnings potential. Similarly, a tax increase may prompt a rich local businessman to invest in tax free municipal bonds rather than attempting to start a new business - which in turn creates zero jobs rather than the potential new jobs that a new business would have provided - thus fewer potential club customers since fewer local people have jobs than could have othewise been the case.Quote:
So unless someone makes over $250 grand a year or is using loopholes and tax havens to get out of paying their fair share, they have nothing to worry about
Also, if that dancer has been investing for her future, regardless of her income the amount of taxes which will be extracted from gains on her investments will increase from 15% to 28-33-36%. This is a REAL tax increase on people who earn far less than $250k.
If that is so, then they are equally silly. To be honest, my understanding is that the Conservatives are not all that solid behind McCain.
I can see why her comments could concern you, but I think that logic is as follows:
God endowed Americans with certain unalienable rights, and to the extent that foreign powers jeopardize those rights, God would want them defended. I don't see how else that position can be justified.
Yeah, right :sarcastic Like those things have improved so much under the Bush tax plan. You are really reaching here, ya know. Plus so far off the mark it’s downright laughable. That can be countered by smarter investing and a better budget. Simple as that.
Wow, this logic is just unbelievable.
Is there anyone out there (besides you, that is ) who is not investing as smartly as they can already or budgeting as best they can?
So let me get this straight:
We should all support Obama because as long as we invest more smartly ( whatever that means ) and do a better job budgeting, we'll be able to maintain our standard of living?
Right......
Besides me? Oh so now I am a stupid investor, eh? Wow. Well, since you don't know squat about me or my husband or our investment strategy that qualifies it as a twist on a personal attack. And that means it is time to put you on the official ignore list. Bye, Bye:wave:
In all seriousness, please explain to me why we should be so incredibly concerned with what other countries think of us? That's not a rhetorical question either, please answer it.
We are the greatest country on Earth. Who saved Europe from Hitler in WWII? Who defeated Japan in WWII? Who saved Kuwait from Saddam? Who led the relief for the tsunami victims? Who just sent $60B to Africa to fight AIDS? The answer is "we did".
And if we are held in such low regard by the rest of the world , why do so many people immigrate her, both legally and illegally?
You implied that you could invest more smartly than you currently are. I always thought everyone invested as smartly as they could or at least as smartly as they cared to. Ignore away. i'm growing tired of trying to debate someone who tells others they are wrong because, well, because , because, because ,... they're wrong.
