For getting hired, do you think it helps to lie about having previous experience?
I've been reading through some threads about getting hired for the first time and I see that some ladies lied and said they had previous experience.. do you think this is a good idea in general? If so, should I mention a club in the same city or some place out of state (and therefore less easy to verify)? Thanks in advance for your advice.

no, because it will be obvious when you dance that you don't have previous experience.

I don't think I've ever read where a girl lies about her experience. Anywho, like Keira no you should not lie. They can definately tell a total newbie over an experienced dancer who just has a few jitters.

when i first got hired, i lied and siad that i used to do private parties. The reason i lied was cause the first club i ever applied to told me that i needed experience and wouldn't even let me audition. Later on i found out the reason they wanted eperienced girls at the first club and it wasnt really the kind of place i wanted to work at.

also, SC's are still pretty searchable, too... they like publicity and attracting clientele- if someone wanted to 'verify' your last job they'd likely see you were a fraud.
but clubs hire new girls all the time... how do you think we all got started?? ;D

I was wondering mainly if high end clubs won't even consider someone without experience, and if it would help to say that I've had brief experience, perhaps in a different state or something..

I wouldn't lie. I work at a high-end club and I didn't have any experience. I actually don't think they even asked.
I also don't see a club turning away a really hot girl, just because she hasn't danced before. I could be wrong, but I think most clubs will hire you if you look great and are eager to learn.

I told the truth... and got hired. make sure you look super hot and you shouldn't have any problems.

I lie, it'll be obvious you have no experience as soon as you start working, also as someone said, its pretty easy to verify whether you've worked at a certain club or not, all it takes for some to go, "Hey, do you know Brandie that works there?" Then you're scewed.
Just tell the truth, we all had to start somewhere, most clubs have no problem taking on new dancers.

Most clubs will hire girls with no experience even the most upscale. If they are overrun with girls they may ask you to do a few slower shifts first till you work out your jitters.

I lied. I felt that managers responded better and were willing to just let me work immediately when I said " I danced a few months in college " . I had a home pole and knew tricks when starting though. I wouldn't lie unless you feel confident and it looks realistic.

Thank you to those who mentioned that high end clubs will hire girls with no previous experience. I'm confident that I have the looks to work at a high end club, so I'll be honest about having no experience and do my best at the audition.

The reality these days that some clubs, sadly too many clubs will "hire" any half way decent looking girl who shows up and is willing to pay that all important and ever increasing stage fee.

Re: For getting hired, do you think it helps to lie about having previous experience?
As long as you look good most clubs, even the upscale ones, will hire you regardless if you have experience or not. Also, like everyone else said, it will be obvious as soon as you start that you aren't an experienced dancer.

Rockell, Thank you so, so much for that comment. Very reassuring -- now I definitely don't feel the need to lie about experience.

At my first audition, the manager asked me where I had danced before... I froze up, I was planning on saying I never had, but the way he asked were as if he expected that I had, so I blurted out, "Oh, at a club in Oregon."
It was very obvious tho, that I had NO experience when I got on stage. He didn't say anything about it. I got hired & worked the same night.... but blah, don't lie. No need too.
