Keep your bag in your trunk. Don't discuss business with college folk..it will spread like wildfire

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
When you go out for work, say you're going on a date!! If anybody asks to meet your boyfriend, just say he's older and doesnt want to hang out with college kids. That explains you coming home late, getting dressed up, ETC.

the date thing might work a few times but not every weekend....the girls are the type that will have to try and convince me to come with them instead of hanging with my "boyfriend" every weekend... i'd have to do too much lying to keep that one up

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
You could say you're working in as a waitress out of town. Be carful of where you say you're working as if it's too close to home you'll get found out very quickly. Is there anyway you could say you were working in a neighbouring town, too far away for your friends just to pop by but close enough to justfy the travel for you?

To me it seems perfectly plausible.....

i like the idea of being a cocktail waitress....that seems like a pretty reasonable excuse to disappear 3 nights a week

i guess i could say the suburbs...no one has a car besides me so if i say somewhere that the train doesn't stop...they can't really check up on me...and i can tell them that i am scared to work in the city...so i decide to drive out to the burbs....
thats a great idea, thanks polekitten :)

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
Don't bookmark stripperweb.
Keep your stuff at your locker at work.
Don't give out your cellphone number to customers, they will call you at all hours of the night.
Also, you're a waitress. Or bartender. A hostess.
Hide your receipts if you intend to file for taxes.
Through out clothing packaging ASAP, etc.

Please don't be one of those people that lets their friends dictate every aspect of your life. You really can't say that you're spending the time with your "boyfriend" because they won't see him? Come on. Is it necessary for them to see him? I could understand if it was your parents but FRIENDS? Let's get real, if that can't work for you then you might as well tell them you're a stripper. Because if they're the type of people that have to SEE your boyfriend to believe that's where you're going, don't you think they'd make a trip to said town to see where you're working as a "cocktail waitress"? And as far as you not being able to talk to other guys because of your "boyfriend"...wtf?:O Why not? Because your friends will stop you? Sure the fuck you can! People cheat all the time, it can't be devestating to them to see you dating other men when they think you have a boyfriend.

No...because people talk and i'm sure if i start seeing someone from my school and they hear from 20 people that i leave every weekend from 7-3 to see my "boyfriend"....thats not gonna go over too well... then i have to get to explaining to him why we can't date on weekend nights...and i don't think i feel comfortable just comming right out to men that i'm a stripper...i think the waitress/ bartender lie is much smarter, easier, and alot less stressful than an imaginary boyfriend.... atleast in my situation

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
1) Keep your stripping outfits in an overnight bag, hidden in your room, or preferably keep them locked in your locker at work.
2) Rather than using an excuse, tell the truth (kind of), tell them you work at a bar some distance from the college, and some distance away from where college people go clubbing in your city. Tell them the most expensive, exclusive cover-charge bar that is at least 45 minutes away from the college, that way they'll be insanely unlikely to ever turn up. And on the off chance they do turn up and fail to see you there lie, say you went home sick.
3) Don't even hint about strip clubs. It can become painfully obvious someone has worked there if they keep telling stories about "oh, a friend-of-a-friend worked in a stripjoint and this happened to her". As far you're concerned, you don't even know where to find a strip club if someone asks.
4) And if you do happen to see someone at your club and know that they saw you, be brazen, walk right up and ask them how their night's been, you really can't run from that one, I know.

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
Its better to not even say you work in a bar.
I used to say I worked as a nurse aid for a wealthy elderly women.

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
i just tell my friends that i work as a bartander in a very busy club.
and leave all my stuff in the locker, iclude my stage make up. if you friend did not see you in the club, say that the dish washer broken, you stayed at back washed glasses for whole night. :)
or
even just tell your friend you are a lingerie/ bikini waitress work in a high class restrant.

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
I just told my roommates I worked in a bar about an hour away so they never asked to visit.
-
Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
I think I'm gonna be in the minority here, but I think you SHOULD NOT mention COCKTAIL WAITRESS or BARTENDER to your friends..you all are young and in college, they are going to want to come!
I think you should get a boring job. Tell them you do inventory at walmart or something like that. OR (just got another great idea) tell them you work overnight w/ UPS. They hire TONS for overnight, part-time workers.
-
Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
Uh, I hate to point out the painfully obvious... but you say you want to date college guys? Do you think that other than messing around, you would be able to keep a boyfriend type from knowing you strip? And even if you do meet someone you do want to date seriously, you're going to have to choose between trusting them with the truth (MISTAKE) or lying to them constantly (pain in the ass). Chances are you'll break up and they'll tell everyone, or they'll tell one "trusted" friend who will tell everyone.
You're not going to be able to date guys at your school if you want to keep it secret. 18-22 year old guys don't handle stripper girlfriends very well.
If you want a normal, happy college life, I suggest you REALLY do work a regular job. Your college experience is priceless, and stripping can ruin it because you never get to do the normal college social stuff and people will find out and you'll be the campus whore. You can work at a bar and not be broke.

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
If you're going to do it, buy some plain blue scrubs to wear to and from work. Like others have said, say you're a private nurse. AND DO NOT DATE.
-
Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
I don't think the boyfriend excuse will work for a long period of time especially if you become good friends with these people. Also there is nothing worse than a girl who won't spend any time with her friends because she is always spending time with her boyfriend.
Say you have a boring job so people won't ask questions. Being a nanny is a good excuse, so is that you do market research which could explain the hours. Or say that you do promotions work so you are always at different venues so they can't visit you.

Maybe it's my age. I didn't start dancing until I was 24 so I never had to deal with this when I was 18-19. I'm sure at that age I probably wouldn't have been able to use the boyfriend excuse either. But women my age, this story would work perfectly. But be careful with the cocktail waitress lie....to college students that yells "FREE DRINKS!!!" And I tell you me and my friends would've walked from Queens, NY to the Bronx just for free drinks. I saw someone suggest that you say you work in a nursing home...MUCH BETTER STORY. Then you won't have to worry about friends or potential boyfriends checking up on you. But a word of caution....don't make a LOT of friends....people have strange ways of wandering into clubs that are seriously out of the way. I work in Wilkes-Barre, Pa and my club constantly gets customers that live in NY and NJ in there. I bumped into a guy I knew in high school. So all it takes is one loud mouth to wander into you club...cover blown and that's gonna be the juicy gossip for a while. College guys love outing stripper classmates.
-
Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
I have been debating which club to go to.... should i go to the club 20 miles away...a 30 min drive....or the one 6 miles away, a 20 min drive...but i think i would do better money wise there....

Re: How to HIDE being a stripper???
I think the waitress idea is good, and if you talk about it kind of grudgingly maybe... like "yeah, my friend/uncle/whoever got me this job and it's far away, but I don't want to quit" or something they might buy it. Then again, this may seem sketchy so... do what feels right haha. I'm in college full-time right now and I don't think there's ANYTHING I could keep from my roommate.

I agree with cinnamon kisses. Tell your friends that you do the night-time inventory audit at wal-mart. They will never bother you. Or, tell them you have the night shift at UPS. My ex-boyfriend works at UPS during the night. They coop them up into this security access-only warehouse all night long. You have to leave your apartment in brown work clothes (t-shirt and pants)though to make it look authentic. His job was called "the aisle sort". You just push the boxes down the "aisle" and talk to the other people around you doing the same thing. So boring!! They will NEVER ask or visit! ;D Most of the people that work there are men, very few women. But it is a good excuse why you are in great shape from your job, also.
