love to dance, terrified of people
i'm very new to all of this (obviously). my main reason for wanting to dance is because i bought a pole and set it up in my room to use as a form of exercise when i stopped playing roller derby, and now that i've done it for awhile i really, really want to work in a club. my problem is, all i know is the pole. i've never given a lapdance before, and i'm extremely shy and self-conscious around large groups of people i don't know. i have severe anxiety(something that i've been working to overcome) and the thought of approaching someone i don't know freaks me out beyond belief, so i don't know if i'll be able to cut it as a dancer.
having said that, what i'm wondering is there such a thing as being purely a pole dancer where you have virtually no contact with the clients, or is that unheard of? can any money be made doing this?
eventually i would like to give lapdances/talk to customers/etc, but while i get used to the dance scene and see how things are done i'd love to just use the pole, it's where i'm most comfortable. i'm just wondering if any club will let me do this.
thanks to all who offer help!

Doubtful in a strip club. You try and create a job for yourself like in a regular bar like a go-go girl where you are cover and dance as part of the decoration at the club. Or like a lot of girls do start at the strip club as a waitress till you get use to it then switch to dancing. Or you could just face your fears head on and dive in and do it. That's what I did. I was very shy about talking to people anywhere when I started but this business helped a lot with my social skills.

depending upon your area, there actually MAY be a club that is purely stage, w/ no lapdances. however, these clubs are rarely moneymakers, esp. in this economy right now.
lapdances are NOT difficult. you'll pick it up very quickly. best way to learn? go to a club and get one or two as a customer from a really sensual girl who looks like she's been dancing a while and knows what she's doing. seriously!!
Dancing is not for everyone. However, there are a LOT of girls on this board who might be shy in real life but come out of their shells in the club because you have a different name, look, and sometimes persona when stripping. You're an act, a fantasy girl. It's much easier. I'd give it a shot if you're really interested- what do you have to lose?? Good luck!

i don't know exactly where you are but theres a club in philly thats like that-pens port its a small place, and there's no lap dances. and yes there's actually pretty decent money -youre almost guaranteed to make $300-$600 per 4 hr shift there. The only catch is you have to be really hot. PM me if you want more info.
