totally freaking out
So, due to financial issues caused freaking Hurricane Ike, I'm thinking of dancing. I waitressed at clubs briefly two years ago, so I'm not entirely naieve concerning this industry. However, after going in to find out when to go for an interview today, I have started to freak out.
I can't think of a decent dancer name that fits me, even after reading the forum stuff concerning it. I'm afraid that I went to too nice of a club, and they told me to come back tomorrow as a means of putting me off due to me being too ugly/weird-looking for that kind of place. I'm afraid that I will be a total fucktard on stage. I'm afraid of absolute failure!
I'm a just-starting model, student, and mom, and despite the compliments that I get (especially on Myspace, lol), I am starting to feel more insecure about my body than I have in ages. I am not usually a nervous person-- is this normal newb behavior? ARGH!
I was wondering if some of you bored and/or nice people could look at some of my myspace pics in order to help me find a name, ease my nerves, anything!
Oh, and most importantly, hi all!

(Note: I tried to photoshop out some of the weird crinkling that happened on my stomach while sitting in that couch. I sunk into it, and it made me crunch forward and feel fatter than normal. The last one was touched up for funsies.)

Re: totally freaking out
^No advice as of right now since I'm half sleep, I'll respond in the morning..but, in the meantime, is that your real name? If so, maybe you should take it off SW..you never know who is lurking on these sites.

Re: totally freaking out
Good point.
Poor choice on my part.
I'll post some pics instead.

Re: totally freaking out
I looked at your myspace youre very pretty. If you want to dance I'm sure you will do well. If they told you to come back tommorrow thats not bad, if they told you to "wait for them to call you" I would tell you differently.

Re: totally freaking out
Thanks!
I was just paranoid because I'm so new to this. I don't know what to expect, much less how to interpret what a manager might say.

Re: totally freaking out
^^^
You cant worry about it or take it personally. I can garuntee you Pamela Anderson in her hayday would not have gotten hired at every club. Managers are moody, there are club politics...etc. Just consider it a job like any other and go about your business...you wouldn't say not want to bartend bc you didn't get hired at the first place you filled out an application at right?
Trust me, I've been doing this since a wee babe of 18 ;)

Re: totally freaking out
Thanks bunches! I was supposed to go by today, but the traffic in town was awful. Everyone went back to work today (from the hurricane), the traffic lights are still not working well everywhere, and the street where the club is is one of the few places in town with most of stores/restaurants with power. I wasn't able to go at the time that I was supposed to, so, I guess, I should go in tomorrow and see.
And yes, I'm insecure. I used to be superfat, and I get paranoid that I'm really not that different. :( My guy friend said my stomach was bad the other day, and my hubby said my legs were thick-- that's what's made me so paranoid about this.

Your legs look muscular. THAT'S *sexy!*

Re: totally freaking out
Thank you much. He was just being ass, I guess, considering the reactions. (Sometimes, I catch myself not working out to keep them from looking like that. I really don't workout anymore, at least crazily anyway. I get man legs.)

Re: totally freaking out
Nobody is perfect. If any man in a strip club looks at your legs and decides he won't get a dance from you because he thinks they are "flabby", he has some *serious* issues.

Re: totally freaking out
Uh, you aren't already a stripper?

Re: totally freaking out
Texas... I'm just guessing, because you mentioned hurricane ike. Well, I am in the same boat as you! I too am struggling financially, because of the storm. I hope you didn't get any damage, and that your power is on!! I think this is not the best time to start dancing (not this current week atleast) people are just returning to work, some still don't have power, people with damage have other expenses, everyone had to loose money on food, and hurricane preparedness (they spent extra money on generators, gas, all the essentials you need to get through without power), getting trees, and rubbage cleared despite insurance paying for damage, if they had insurance they still have to spend time getting things back to normal here) yeah, I know you already know that stuff... but I am just reassuring you that it's not you! I guess Galveston was Tina, cuz Ike knocked the hell out of Galveston. :( I feel fortunate to have visited Galveston for the fourth of July weekend, not the prettiest beach, but it is still a fun getaway.

Re: totally freaking out
wow, you have nothing to worry about - trust me, i can't be bothered replying to threads like this normally, and i bothered this time.
if you're really not sure, ask the boys on the blue side.
btw, you're a "lexi" if you ask me.

Re: totally freaking out
Thanks for the encouragement! Lexi was actually a name that came to mind the other day, so Lexi it is!
I've never danced in the least; my racy pics are from a shoot with my agent, as I am a glamour/bikini model. I'm extremely limited in access to working modeling jobs due to school obligations, needing to lose 10 lbs (my agent told me that one), and needing a babysitter; hence, I don't gots no monies. :(
And yes, redhothoney, Ike was more than just inconvenient: it's put me in a financial situation that I never wanted to or thought I'd be in, especially with having about two weeks of expenses in the bank when it hit. I would agree with you on the club thing except for the fact that I'm thinking of going to the Men's Club; on Monday at like 6:30, that place was PACKED.
