What *exactly* can I claim?
I've been reading through a lot of threads for the last hour and a half and I'm just not finding a great list. For the first time as a dancer in three years, I've decided I want to claim my tips!! (I've been reading a lot of the horror stories about when you don't! :O) I've also found a smattering of information on who claims what. But I need a list of what I can exactly claim. Anything and everything.
So, to help you out, I dance (obviously ;D )and I'm a student with loans and have payed tuition in cash several times. I've traveled dancing and if you know what I'm able to claim as a student, not just as a dancer, that would be would be wicked awesome!! :D
I'm a little stressed over this, so I hope I'm making sense. And keep it in plain English please, as I'm just starting to get in to the financial side of things!!!
Thanks,
Faith:P
Re: What *exactly* can I claim?
Well, first of all, you probably want to claim whatever you have a paper trail for....some clubs (VIPS in Chicago being one, annoyingly) report all your funny money earnings to the IRS. Most don't.
So, if your club isnt reporting anything, I would report enough to cover all of your bills and living expenses, your rent, car payment insurance cell phone, etc. Again, things there are a paper trail for.
Re: What *exactly* can I claim?
No more replies? I really need the help!! :D
And thanks, but I'm more looking for what items I can claim. I.e. Tuition, Books, dancer gear, gas mileage, etc. Are these all things I can claim? What else?
Thanks! ;D
