Question about blocking users from your area on webcam sites!
Hey,
I have been reading about camwithher.com and it sounds pretty good to me. I tried out a couple of cam sites very briefly but found the guys' demands and what the other girls were willing to do WAY too much for me (hmm sound familiar?!)
Anyways, I was reading on camwithher that you can block out members from your own area, which is GREAT for me!!! I just have some questions about that:
-Can they see me in searches or see my profile at all? Like, what I want to know is, is there any way people I know from my area could find pictures or video footage of me even though I've set my profile not to show for them!? This is a serious issue for me, cuz I want to be a teacher and I have a feeling this would be a big no-no ::)
-I am very uncomfortable with the waivers these sites have, that they can use your image, your videos, etc. in ANY way shape or form they want, even after you stop working!!!!! Does that not freak anyone else out?! They could technically use your picture or videos to promote their website, which people I know COULD see out there on the world wide web.
It sounds like a good opportunity for students to do this while they're at home, or on nights I don't wanna go dance. I just dont wanna jeapordize my future career to make extra money. :-\

I'm kind of in the same boat in that I am pursuing a career in piano teaching. I would highly recommend not doing anything involving photos/videos and that includes webcamming *sigh*

btw, I'm also Canadian :)
Re: Question about blocking users from your area on webcam sites!
If the people are like me and come up with fake addresses when they fill out online required fields then they will be able to see you becuase the program will think they live in afganistan or where ever the curser happens to be when they click the choose your area button.
If they check the persons credit card or IP address for the address it's possible they have a card registered to a different address or it's prepaid or they are using a proxy.
Now I don't think anyone would willingly go through all that to see girls in their own area, but if they happened to be on a proxy or give fake addy's they could stumble across you. Also nothing (that I know of) prevents people from doing a "print screen" and then posting your pictures on another site. I used to use a html code on my blogs that wouldn't allow people to right click on your photos, but alas a print screen is a pretty easy way to get around that.
Re: Question about blocking users from your area on webcam sites!
I would email the actual website and ask them, from my experience it varies. I remember at least one cam site I looked into you would still show up when you were a 'new girl', featured on the front page, but after the first week (or however long) when you went into the regular search engine and were not veiwable from people within your area. But I would say it varies from site to site so find out directly from them!
If it were a brief period of time on the front page you could make yourself look different and hope no local pervs are on!
