Golden Years by David Bowie;p
"Heart of Glass"--Blondie. I didn't pick it, and it's a little too peppy and upbeat sounding for to really dance well to. Funny how nobody forgets their first song.
i danced to 'shorty swing my way' by envy and kp.. love it!! i didnt get to pick it but was soooo easy to move to!!
Rasberry Swirl by Tori Amos. Yes I did pick that.

Nice Pick. It's part of one of my sets
I haven't been able to sit and read the entire thread, but for my first song, I told the DJ to play something from the 80's, like the Pet Shop Boys...I had something like "West End Girls" in my mind...but instead, he played "Opportunities." If you haven't heard that song before, here's a vid...I was like, "Oh no!" but I made it work! lol.

Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. I was obnoxiously drunk and probably not all to far away from vomitting. This song became the anthm of my life this decade.
I honestly dont know what the first song I danced to was... the DJ asked me what I wanted and I told him to pick something. It was some hip hop song.
I don't think I picked any of my music my first night, I was too scared. Now I pick every single time. :P

"world in my eyes" by Depeche mode. Sooo sexy! Besides, it's one of the songs I practiced to in my bedroom before auditioning ;)
dirty diana by mj, darlin nikki by prince and apolonia nasty girls was my first set ever...
"Hold Music" by this indie band called Architecture in Helsinki. I picked it. Kinda a weird song to dance to, in retrospect...
At the club I currently work at my audition song was "Ruiner" by Nine Inch Nails
First ever song I danced to was "Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran. Then the next three (in no order and not sure why I remember) were "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, "Give It Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Alive" by Pearl Jam. I got to choose. The DJ suggested some R "n" B song, but I really don't care for that (I'm much more of an alt rocker than anything else).
Ooooh mine was "Hey" from Pixies.
So funny, I was just thinking about this the last week when I stumbled upon the CD when cleaning out my CD case, still the original one I brought to the club with me my first night. Oh the memories!
............
marilyn manson sweet dreams
the dream "shawty is a 10"
=]
Danzig, Mother... and the second song I think was Motorhead...? The DJ was a metal guy.
I love Danzig! Lol but you are kinda right. Plus I've heard he's super arrogant.
A singer's voice will make or break a band with me. This is also the reason I can't listen to Faith No More. Mike Patton's not that bad of a vocalist when you get down to it, but the song Epic literally makes me want to kill myself. Gah, I hate it soooo much.
And arrogant guys suck.
I didn't get to choose, but it was Devour, by Shinedown I believe.
A totally random techno song I can't remember, I was so nervous I just whispered "techno" when the DJ asked me what I wanted Lol. And I couldn't hear the song because I was so terrified the whole time I was up there!
DJ chose the song. It was Jaded by Aerosmith. I only remember because they played the song near a dozen times for me in my first week lol. Every time the song gets played for me now I can't help but smile and let out a little giggle. The DJ my first week had a really hard time thinking of classic rock songs for me lol.
