WV is not in the deep south. TX thru SC is the deep south.
It unfortunately takes generations for hate to be gleaned out of humans. If you think baby boomers have some racial hated left, you ought to observe their parent's generation. Now, some of that is/was some very dangerous stuff.

You're deliberately missing the point. W.Va. was NEVER part of the Confederacy. It broke off from Virginia in 1863 because it had very few slaves and wanted to stay in the Union. While there was plenty of racism and segregation, it was NOT as ingrained and codified as in many states in the Deep South. However, over the past three decades or so, the Deep South has made greater progress than W. Va. in eliminating segregation and in building a black middle class.
Re: Newsweek ... 'FED Goes to DEFCON 1"
You aren't saying anything I didn't already know very well. I know about June 20, 1863, first capital was Wheeling, etc.; I even know the counties that voted not to break off and those that had significan tslavery. I'm not missing any of your points. But you have missed all of my data I pulled just for you. You made claims you just aren't backing up while I pulled out several studies, including the SPLC which is decidedly interested in discrimination of blacks, showing the opposite of what you're claiming.
WV's black population has greatly moved onwards to where they can earn more money. That was happening even back in the 50s and early 60s when nothing much was changing anywhere. There are few cities (and I mean few) where there are even sizeable black ghettos and there are few in less populated areas; total black population is under about 30,000. That plus the studies show that big-time discrimination in WV is not what Karl Rove claimed; they guy is a lying, hard-core opportunist about just about everything political. At least when he's being paid. Or maybe you watch too many fictionalized hillbilly movies.
Re: Newsweek ... 'FED Goes to DEFCON 1"
When are you all gonna get back on topic for this thread?
Re: Newsweek ... 'FED Goes to DEFCON 1"
I agree, we should take this wv thing to another thread or drop it as completed.
Limit terms, work for the common good, not to enhance just the party. And get some competent administration in there. We agreed on that.
