Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I've been doing workouts from that dvd for some time. I don't do one per day because I like variety but I've tried them all (and I've never had to stop in the middle). I've had very small handweights, though, maybe I should get bigger ones.
It's cool how Jillian is not like most instructors (those who giggle and try to look sexy etc.).
I don't think I'll lose weight really. I've exercised a lot for about a year, my weight has stayed about the same but my arms are like double the size they were. (And I've learned some cool yoga poses and got more flexible which is a definite plus when it comes to impressing the customers...)
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Great idea Kandie! I'm in.
I'm at 145 (give or take) and would LOVE to lose...what else?...20 pounds. I've got lovehandles that just won't freakin' quit!
I've been doing yoga for a while and kinda plateaued so something new to combat that is good, plus this is a perfect distraction during the holidays!
I'm at level 1 day 3. I was sweating like crazy but the biggest surprise is how I couldn't even do a for real push up the first day. My arms are already pretty toned but I guess not as strong as I thought ;)
For motivation, I took "before" pics and made a little calendar to mark the days off.
Alright, let's do this ladies!!!
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Hahaha I read that post and went out and bought the dvd too. I need some weights... what size would you ladies that are doing the dvd workout recommend? Also another question what kind of foods are ya'll eating? I don't like so many food and I don't really cook so I'm kinda stuck on that part. Anyone got any recipes or suggestions? I'll be starting as soon as I get weights and some healthy food in the pantry. Goo luck to you all. I'll be posting results soon.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I started off using 5 lbs, then when I was unbelievably sore, switched to 3 lol. I think in another workout or two, I'll boost it back up to 5.
I'm basically eating whatever I want, but trying to stay away from candy and chips, and having fruit/veggies instead.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
So, I got pretty sick in the midst of my first week with the flu, so my workout schedule got pretty wrecked.
But, without any changes to my diet or routine other than adding the DVD, I lost 2 lbs since I started with only 3 workouts.
So I'm on Day 3, Level 1. I'm back to using 5 lb weights (even though it makes me want to cry) and down to 154!
This has me really pumped, so I'm going to add Tonalin, and I'm going to try and work in 30 minutes of cardio on top of the DVD 3 times a week.
Hey, little changes add up!
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Good idea! I'm actually starting the 30 Day Shred Challenge on January 1st. I'm going to take my measurements & "before" pictures (or as Jillian calls them, "goodbye" pictures :D) &post them in this thread when I do.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I've got 20 pounds of post baby weight to lose- I'm ordering this DVD- once I'm 6 weeks postnatal I'll start it. I'm 3 weeks postnatal now, so 3 more weeks to go!
I'm super excited to try it out!
I hope this thread is still active then- I'll post pics and measurements and all that - Good luck ladies :)
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Can someone please tell me what I need in addition to the DVD? My search function isn't working... sorry in advance.
I mean what weights, resistance bands, etc are needing along with it.
Thanks and I'm gonna probably order it in time for Jan 1st too!
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Sounds like a plan ladies. Now I wanna hop online and buy this dvd too.

the only thing you need is hand weights. i have 3 lbs, other girls are using 5 lbs. whatever you've got laying around or can find at the store.
i'm on level 1 day 9 now. i skipped yesterday since i went to a holiday party and ended up staying late...and there's no way in hell i'm doing this while drunk :D
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I started off with 3 lb weights. Still on them. They are more likely to keep me going instead of having to take breaks. Typically you are to do each level for 10 days. I have been on a hiatus for a little while, thus the reason why I am still at 137. At least I haven't gained! But my bf/ex fiance/guy I am dating..whatever he is now just got back from Iraq and I just got a new job, which I hate. Anyways, I am glad to see ppl actually caring about their bodies.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
just a little update. i'm on L2 D5, so exactly halfway through. it doesn't feel like i'm losing much weight but i'm definitely losing inches around my waist (where it's needed most) and toning up. i actually like L1 better since it's easier on my knees but am gonna keep at it.
i'm really trying to figure out how many calories i should be eating a day. seems like if i ate less i'd lose weight faster (and i know this to be true for my body) but everyone says not to go under 1200 since it slows your metabolism down (and you actually keep the weight off in the long run by eating more/going slower). just a little frustrating to do things the "right way." ::);D
anyway good luck and keep it up!
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
^Def don't go under 1200.
If you do, your body goes into starvation mode, and will cling to every calorie...which will actually make you gain weight, and make ot harder to keep losing inches.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Well I'm not 6 weeks post baby yet (4.5 weeks post), but I had to try the workout!
Jillian Michaels kicked my ass!
I've been doing 20 minutes on the treadmill since my baby was 10 days old (started very slowly)... having 5 kids I dont have much more than 20 minutes a day to squeeze in a workout- so I am SO thankful for this DVD! Treadmill is nice and all- but does NOT compare! I feel really good right now! Cant wait to see results!
How is everyone else doing?
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
It's still kicking my ass. I'm losing weight like it's my job
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I just bought the dvd tonight. Starting it first thing in the morning!!!
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I just placed my order for this. I have been hearing just great things about it. So as well I will do a before picture and just update as I go along everyday. My main purpose isn't really to loose weight but to tone what I have. But if some gets lost then oh well lol as long as it isn't too much.
You girls got me motivated!;D
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
So I just finished level 1 day one and my ass got kicked. I never realized how outta shape i was!!! I had to do the "5 second breaks" the 5 different times and i had to use my inhaler!!! Even though I wanted to frickin die.... i still wanna stick with it!!!!! and now i8m having an after excersize smoke. ahhhh
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I just bought my copy at half.com as reccomended by the OP. Even though I am currently at my goal weight (130lbs) I like to stay in shape, and I figure I can use this dvd when I can't get to the gym, or when I'm traveling.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
Despite the fact that I've been eating like crap lately, I still managed to lose 4 lbs...solely doing this.
It's actually motivating me to clean up my diet to see what it can really do.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
It's so nice to finally find a workout DVD that works! Especially a cheap one..lol. I saw that it is now 9 bucks at walmart. I guess bc of New Year's resolutions.
Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
oooohhh...waiting on this to arrive, bought it used off amazon...will be sure to eat a bag of doritos or two to beef up for my goodbye photos... ;)

Re: 30 Day Shred Challenge!
I'm on day 6 and I love it!!! I just started eating healthy today however, my upper abs are definitely showing it's just that lower pooch that's tough.
