I actually just caught a 'classic' Christmas movie that I wasn't aware existed ... 'The Cheaters' (1945) ... which really made an impression given today's trying economic times.
The original "Miracle on 34th Street" is must viewing for me at least once during the holidays.
I remember as a kid, seeing "The Lemondrop Kid" with Bob Hope years ago and liking it, but it's been so long I don't recall much more than the basic plot.
Not a Christmas movie, but there is a nice Christmas scene in "Will Penny", one of my favorite Heston films.
And of course, "Christmas Vacation".
Mele Kalikimaka Everybody! I'm off to spend the holidays with the president-elect.
We'll be sharing an island.
I just saw Four Christmases and had a blast. I didn't think it would be that much fun. It has an all star cast. There was never a dull moment and it had a good message. I know it's not a throwback, but it's a definite "must see."
I love just about any version of this story. Always have as long as I can remember. One year (I was maybe 1st grade) my grandparents got a coloring book based on A Christmas Carol that was like 3 feet tall. I colored just about every page!
My modern favorite is Elf with Will Ferrell.
I gotta watch at least three airings of the 24 hour "A Christmas Story" marathon.
"Christmas Vacation" for a movie and the best special is hands down 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
