(snip)"Neturei Karta or the “Guardians of the City,” is a Jewish Orthodox group known for being one of the staunchest religious opponents to the Zionist state. According to Neturei Karta members, Zionism does not represent a continuation of Jewish religious heritage or an implementation of Jewish teachings; Zionism in their view is an evil conspiracy against Judaism.
The Orthodox Jewish rejection of Zionism is based mainly on the definition of the “Jewish people” from a religious perspective. Neturei Karta believes that the Jewish people are not a nation in the conventional sense; rather, it is a religious group that came into existence three thousands years ago.
Jewish beliefs state that the Jews are God’s chosen people; however, this privilege, according to one religious interpretation, is not to empower Jews to control the world: God has chosen Jews to perform a divine service in this world. Thus, they should serve humanity. Jews were chosen not because they are an arrogant people or a victorious group but because they are a humble and peace-loving people.
Based on their beliefs in a common humanity and in their religious specificity, Neturei Karta members stress that Judaism abhors the shedding of blood and calls for avoiding this at all costs. They also emphasize that Jewish beliefs urge Jews not to carry arms or assume positions of power. They believe that Jews should leave such matters to the governments under whose auspices they live. According to the Neturei Karta, it was the Jewish insistence that Judaism is a religious belief and not a national movement that ensured the survival of the Jewish people.
Contrary to these views, Zionists view the Jewish people as a nation, entitled to carry arms and resort to violence to reclaim their pride and self-respect. Hence, they should have an army, a navy, an air force and a distinguishing flag. Zionists believe that Jews should be ruled according to secular laws and that religious laws should be forgone. Zionists even deny the sacred nature of the Torah and view it, together with other Jewish religious books, as a kind of folklore that should be maintained as such.
To the Zionists, the concept of “God’s chosen people” is molded into racist political notions that grant Jews superior status. This superiority entitles Jews to privileges that violate the rights of others. Therefore, they have the right to occupy Palestine and expel its Arab population. Instead of complying with religious injunctions, Jews should abide by prevalent secular laws whether or not these laws are morally acceptable."(snip)
Again, I'm not trying to make any particular point here other than to make the observation that non-Zionist discussion ... which has traditionally been confined to the 'lunatic fringe' by US mainstream media, is now on the increase ... while the influence of pro-Zionist Arthur Sulzberger's New York Times is in decline. Other aspects of pro-Zionist influence (example Lehman Brothers / Bernie Madoff) have taken heavy hits, while non-Zionist CitiBank received billions of direct investment from an Arab Oil Shiek as well as billions of dollars worth of US taxpayer bailout money. Yet other aspects of pro-Zionist influence such as AIPAC are seeing their financial influence on US politics decline greatly as George Soros and other uber rich but non-Zionist '527' support groups 'assisted' in the successful election of key US politicians like Barack Obama.
Add to this other 'body politic' considerations such as almost universal support by America's 7 million muslims (3/4ths of which are African-American) for Barack Obama. Like (now independent) US Senator Joe Lieberman has found out firsthand, the US Democratic party has arguably severed its previous traditional tight ties to American Jews as a result of simple arithmetic ... with the registered voter arithmetic definitely favoring US muslim voters over US Jewish voters, and with the campaign donations arithmetic now much less relevant in the age of '527 groups' and corporate ( non Jewish owned) US mainstream TV/cable news media that is increasingly more influential than ( Jewish owned ) print media. But to be fair, it wasn't just the Democratic National Committee who has changed course to take advantage of these new realities i.e. throwing Joe Lieberman (and thus many jewish voters) under the bus during primary elections. The Republican National Committee has just thrown GWB (and thus many fundamentalist christian voters) under the bus without even waiting for GWB to leave office.
As more food for thought, you might want to check out the thread on AIG's new American Shariah compliant Finance division, which was just opened up using US taxpayer bailout money. Arguably, many of the (Jewish controlled) major financial institutions on Wall St. as well as in Europe are actually flat broke, whereas the muslim world's financial institutions are flush with badly needed cash / capital. Thus it would appear that the 'rescue' of some of those major financial institutions may in fact come with 'other' strings attached !!!

lol even Roseanne (jewish) has come out and said the Zionist are acting like Nazis. I love my Jewish brothers and sisters and I know most of them are against this. I'm sick of this misery.
No, Im not. But that's ok. You can think what you like. If you're referring to Jews as Zionists in the manner you seem to be than Im going to say it's a pretty safe bet that you're the racist. I don't give a damn about Roseanne Barr's opinion. My point in bringing up the Holocaust was not to use it as an "excuse" it was to add to my previous post in explaining the creation of Israel. No, the Jews aren't the "new nazi's" as I've spent I don't know how many other posts at this point trying to explain as well. When you start ignoring history it gets repeated. As seen in Darfur at this very moment. Thanks for your opinion though. Duly noted.
A. truer words were never spoken ...Quote:
When you start ignoring history it gets repeated
B. that hasn't stopped US voters / politicians / mainstream media from ignoring a massive amount of history lessons !!!

Another tactic: if you say anything bad about Israel, you're an anti Semite. Lol I'm JEWISH. And I'd rather be dead than support the Zionists. And yeah, History is repeating itself you're just too brainwashed to realize what's really going on. I hope someday you'll wake up.
Are you completely historically illiterate? Over the past 40 years, a few thousand Palestinians have been killed by the Israelis, many who were fighting against Isreal. The Nazis killed 6 million Jews, and millions of others, who weren't a threat to anyone. You're not able to see the difference?
Zionism and being Jewish are NOT mutually exclusive.
There are tons and tons of practicing Jews as well as Rabi's all around the globe who oppose Zionism.
Zionism is NOT about religion or faith-- it's about politics.
I find it intresting how liberals and muslims are loudly condemning Israel for killing few hundred, most of them terrorists. Yet same liberals and muslims are silent about Darfur where Sudanese have killed atleast four hundred thousand civilians.
I guess it is because of muslim and liberal ideology where Muslims are always good and USA and Israel are always bad. And since it is muslims doing the killing and USA condemning it genocide in Darfur must be in minds of liberals and muslims good thing.
Roseanne is ignorant (not to mention she hasn't had the experience of rockets coming into her neighborhood.)
The european's took jew cooking to a new level but don't ever think they were welcome in the land from where they came from either. In many muslim controlled places in the middle east it is flat out illegal to be a jew. Iran tends to make christmas tree orniments out of jews (hanging) once or twice a year (spys for the evil Isreal you know.) I don't even need to mention how nearly the entire muslim controlled middle east tried to destroy Isreal in the six day war?
Palestine is a Roman word. It is the Romans who created Palestine - not the tribes or city states they conquered there.
And when they aren't fighting over "the jewish question" and it's "solution" they fight over Shiite and Sunni control.
Sooner or later people need to realize that crowd of people love to fight (it's a desert - what else is there to do?) and the ideas and culture currently being exported from that place is very dangerous to the stability of the world.
Oh Islam how far you have fallen and the world weeps!
well, the Palestinians are 'pissed at' Obama ...
(snip)"Obama transition team officials told AFP the president-elect would not comment publicly in the coming days on the Gaza offensive, and the future president will likely keep silent on the issue until his January 20 inauguration.
His muted response has already drawn the anger of some in the Middle East.
"The start is not good," said Khaled Meshaal, leader of the Hamas Islamist movement that has ruled Gaza since June 2007.
"You commented on Mumbai but you say nothing about the crime of the enemy (Israel). This policy of double standards should stop."
Obama will be hard pressed to address the conflict, the worst in the region since the summer 2006 war in Lebanon and the latest addition to the growing list of foreign policy crises on his agenda.
Israel launched its December 27 assault in response to a wave of Palestinian-fired rockets from the territory which has been under tight Israeli blockade for 18 months.
The crisis "accelerates the timetable for any Obama engagement. It forces their hands. They are going to have to do crisis management," said Tamara Wittes, a Middle East expert at the Brookings Institution in Washington.
Obama's options are also limited by Israeli elections, set for February 10, that could return hawkish former premier Benjamin Netanyahu to power."(snip)

and both the Israelis and American Jews are 'worried' about Obama ...
(snip)"Israel's leaders are asking themselves two questions: Is the cost of sending sufficient ground forces into Gaza just too high? And, upon his inauguration on Jan. 20, will President Obama undercut Israel's counterterror offensive before its goals have been reached?
Israel can deal with self-aggrandizing busybodies, such as French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose irresponsible attempts to force a cease-fire upon Israel benefit only Hamas. (Carla, can't you give that guy something to do?) But Israel would be hard pressed to fight on without American support.
As government leaders and generals in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv weigh the question of whether or not to send tanks into Gaza's streets, they hear the clock ticking. A major ground incursion would take time. Would Israel Defense Forces soldiers find themselves fighting on political quicksand?
Despite the frankly anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish reporting of this conflict in the global media, Israel's military performance not only has been technically superb, but has been as humane as possible under such difficult circumstances.
From earlier briefings in Israel, I know the IDF takes an almost absurd degree of care in its targeting. The questioning doesn't stop with "Is that the right building?" it then asks, "What should be our angle of attack to ensure any rubble falls into the street, not atop the primary school next door?" (Hamas consistently embeds terror facilities among innocent civilians.) (snip)
(snip)"But, as this column has stressed for years, fighting terrorists effectively means going in on the ground - and sooner is better than later. You can't impress fanatics into surrendering. You have to kill them. Nothing else works.
Let me repeat that: You have to kill fanatics. Nothing else works.
Ordinarily, Israeli leaders would only need to ponder battlefield costs and counter international pro-terror propaganda. But the rise of President-elect Obama complicates matters gravely.
Even the timing of Israel's strike at Hamas has been driven, at least in part, by the coming power transfer in Washington. The immediate trigger was the hundreds of Hamas rocket attacks on Israel after the terrorists refused to renew an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire, but Israel's leaders also counted on steadfast support from the Bush administration in its final days.
Obama's an unknown quantity, though. While hysterical claims that he'll be pro-Islamist from start to finish are absurd, even minor shifts away from supporting Israel's struggle against terrorists could have catastrophic consequences. And Israel's vaunted intelligence services can't tell their superiors what Obama will do, since few (if any) of the president-elect's supporters know what he intends to do.
In fact, the president-elect may not know himself. He's a babe in the woods, and the woods are full of wolves. Fighting political rivals doesn't prepare you for fighting terrorist fanatics.
For now, Israel must worry that a major ground offensive against Hamas would be halted halfway by the withdrawal of US support, both diplomatic and practical. The IDF even counts on us to replenish reserve stocks of the guided weapons that minimize civilian casual ties or penetrate tunnels and bunkers. Israel could find that it had paid a grim price in the blood of its sons and daughters, only to be robbed of the chance to hand Hamas a meaningful defeat.
As for our president-elect, his all-too-coy insistence that "we have only one president at a time" has been selective from the start. Glad to pontificate on stimulus packages and union benefits, Obama has used the one-president mantra to avoid taking stands on difficult issues that bedevil or bewilder him.
Our president-elect needed to make a clear, prompt statement in support of Israel. He didn't. If I were an Israeli leader, I'd be worried, too.
Obama's notorious for avoiding firm stands that might alienate any important constituency. But you can't have it both ways in the Middle East. He needs to stand up in support of Israel. Now.
Israeli soldiers should not have to go into battle worrying about an American bullet in the back. "(snip)

This is going to end very badly !!!!!!
^^ This could be the crisis Biden was talking about.
FBR
^^^In Obamas favor, it will be impossible for him to handle it worse than Bush.
^^^ 'worse' is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
Just this morning, the lame duck Bush appointed ambassador to the UN vetoed a UN security council resolution that would have condemned Israel's attack on Gaza, while making absolutely no mention of Hamas' rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza. And (in all probability), the lame duck Bush administration also approved a large sale of US made precision guided rockets / munitions to Israel needed to replenish the ordinance Israel has expended during the Gaza attack so far.
And now we get news that Iran is calling for a reprise of the Carter era oil embargo by (arab) oil suppliers to be specifically targeted against countries that 'support' Israel.
(snip)"TEHRAN, Jan 4 (Reuters) - An Iranian military commander called on Islamic countries to cut oil exports to Israel's supporters in response to the Jewish state's offensive in Gaza, the official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.
IRNA said commander Bagherzadeh described oil as "one of the powerful elements of pressure" on the Jewish state's Western backers in the "unequal war" faced by Palestinians in the coastal strip.
"Pointing at Westerners' dependence on the Islamic countries' oil and energy resources, he (Bagherzadeh) called for cutting the export of crude oil to the Zionist regime's supporters the world over," IRNA said, referring to Israel.
IRNA gave only the commander's last name but it may have been referring to Mirfeysal Bagherzadeh, a brigadier-general of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards. There was no immediate comment from other Iranian officials.
Iran, which often rails against the United States and Israel, is the world's fourth-largest oil producer and a leading member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Top exporter Saudi Arabia is a U.S. ally.
Israeli soldiers and Palestinian militants battled in Gaza on Sunday after Israeli troops and tanks invaded the coastal enclave in the most serious fighting in the conflict in decades.
Israel's attacks on Gaza have sparked repeated protests in Iran, an Islamic state which does not recognise Israel.
In 1973, Arab countries directed an oil embargo at Israel's supporters in the Arab-Israeli war, causing the first oil shock. Primarily the United States but also Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and South Africa were affected. The price of oil quadrupled to almost $12 a barrel and inflation infected the economies of other industrialised countries."(snip)
well, at least the US no longer has an Iranian embassy to allow a reprise of the hostage crisis !!!

I now believe that in addition to this being deeply connected to the upcoming elections in Israel their goal goes even farther than to drum up support for the conservative Hawkish candidate. The larger picture is that they are making yet another illegal land grab in Gaza as well.
Ofcourse the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands is seen by many around the world as the root cause of all these problems and thus the reason that Israel is (rightfully imho) getting heat for their current aggressor military activity.
Current death and injury tolls for this particular battle stands right now at 4 Israeli dead and around 60 wounded and 550 Palestinian dead and over 2,300 wounded with mostly women and children civilians on the Palestinian side and military persons on the Israeli side.
Hamas's is asking for a ceasefire with the following conditions: that Israeli attacks stopped, that Israel lifted its long held economic blockade of Gaza. Israel is at this point anyway refusing those conditions and has instead called up tens of thousands of Israeli military reservists for continued attacks on Gaza.
Other reports coming out are of more personal stories such as a hospital worker from Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahiya who explain that they had recieved eight people had been killed in an Israeli artillery strike who were among a group of people trying to leave their homes to shelter in a nearby school.
And on the other side of things: two Israeli soldiers are claimed to be captured by Hamas but the Israeli army said it had no knowledge of any such incident.
Hamas is a bunch of liars and assassins. They cry about civilians dying yet will send people into pizza places and buses to blow themselves up. Fuuucccccck. Like so many other muzzies in 14 other wars across the globe that have nothing to do with Israel, they just can't get along with people.
^ Is it really necessary to use a racial slur to express your opinion on this issue?
Moving on now to another aspect of this situation.
Israel is refusing to allow human rights monitors and media access to Gaza despite Israeli high court ruling on December 31, 2008 to allow foreign media into Gaza.
It smells all too familiar to US refusing Red Cross access to detainees and it begs the question of if they aren't committing acts that violate human rights laws then why deny human right monitors in Gaza. Here is a link from Human Rights Watch that goes into detail:
Also here is another good link that discusses why BOTH Israel and Hamas are in the wrong in legal and ethical terms. It includes recent actions:
Duh. Where is the racial slur? Is it any different from "fundies" on the christian side? Why are liberals always so quick to throw the race card? It shows a very closed mind when this is the only perception.
At least you found a link that it takes two to fight.
Yes, "Muzzie" is considered a slur. http://www.rsdb.org/search?sort=represents&q=muzzie
It's used in the same way as "Groid" for black people or "Honky" for whites. Sorry if people not approving of your racially charged word choice upsets you but some of us prefer not to use words like that at all. We're called civilized people and we consist of both Liberals and Conservatives.
Here's a rule of thumb. If you wouldn't call someone a name to their face, it's probably offensive and you shouldn't get upset when you're called on it for saying/typing it in public. HTH.
