Working in bad weather..worth it?
How many of you work when there is really bad weather? We have a winter storm warning right now, and they expect about 3-5 inches of snow/ice tonight. I'm scheduled to work, but with this weather it would take me almost an hour to get to my club, (plus it's really risky in my Honda civic,) and I doubt it will be busy. Not worth the risk, right? But then there's the potential of making money due to the fact that there will be such a small amount (like, 5-10) of girls. And I actually feel like working tonight, which is rare, but I always do well when I actually want to work.
What do you think? I don't want to stay home but I also don't want to risk getting in an accident.
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
That's a tough one. Personally i would probably pass on going in if the weather is bad and it takes an hour to get to work. If you do well when you work then you can just make up for it another night. I reckon that it would be pretty quiet if it's crap weather. Hopefully this helps you make up your mind!
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
I say do it, its less girls. I guess we live in the same area because I'm definitely going in. Less girls and customers getting off work and trying to drink before heading home. Go for it.
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
Hmmm...I'm leaning towards staying home. My bf and I share a car, and in this weather he won't get home from work till around 8:30 anyway, which means i wouldn't get there till 9:30 and I'd have to pay a late fee that is equal to what I'd pay for not going in. If I had a way to get there within the next hour I'd do it, but I think the odds are against me.:-\
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
Is it already snowing where you are? I'm still going in to work, I haven't even bothered to look at the weather report, I just keep hearing it's gonna suck. But it's not snowing yet, so I'll be leaving in 15min. I usually still go when it's snowing, raining, etc... unless it's really bad/dangerous (though I've done that once or twice). $$ wise, it's usually still worth it 90% of the time, especially if you're in the mood to work. But it depends on the club as well...
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
If the weather is bad, I stay home. I am about 40min from my club, and refuse to drive that on an unlit road in bad weather.
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
I do not go in on nights it's bad at all. The club is an hr north from me (which always gets more snow) and there is never enough money there to make it worth it to me. Plus if I wreck my car then I'm really in trouble because I won't have any way to get to work at all. If it's only a storm warning tho and it's not actually doing anything yet I'd consider going because tomorrow could be worse.
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
I stay home during bad weather because I think most customers do too. Not worth risking getting in an accident or worse.
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
I'm the stay home type when bad weather hits in. I have a sports car and sometimes have problems getting it to start when it's really cold, and it's horrible in snow and on ice. Usually winter tends to be better for money, but when the weather gets really bad you need to decide for yourself when you think the customers are going to stay in. For me, on those nights I don't go in. AAA took two hours to get to me in the middle of the freezing night - and that is a circumstance I won't be repeating for work.
Re: Working in bad weather..worth it?
if its terrible weather i stay at home, its not the driving on dodgy roads that bothers me, i only pay 20% commission after my first $200 dollars, its when i get there and sit there with not many girls who are all pissed off and getting in each others faces and then two cheap guys come in at midnight to get out of the rain and see that everyone has nothing to do so decide to take things extra slow and delay having dances.
