working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
The past few days have absolutely DESTROYED me mentally...
4 days in a row... 0 profit... where as 2 weeks before i was actually doing okay!
what happened?
it seems in my town March is the month that everyone starts dancing or that everyone who took the post holiday period off starts dancing again.
The club I work for has two clubs in the city, one "main" club.. and a smaller "spin off" club.
you can work at either club... but it's mandatory that you do one night a week at the small one... i ONLY work at the small one because the big one was way too stressful...
the big club on average has 90 - 120 girls working.... the small one has about 25-30...
25 girls in my club 'feels' like a lot... there are no seats... the floor is heaving with dancers.... but recently we have had no less than 40.... and it's simply too much...
whenever a man walks through the door he gets MOBBED by dancers.... usually 6-1.... last night i actually counted as 12 swarmed around one guy who bless him... was only there to eat dinner!....
how the hell do you work like this? the only ones that have a chance are the first girls to grab either arm.... and this usually happens before he gets to the bar even... leaving him looking rather terrified...
i gave up last night... and was gutted because there was ONE customer who i know spent loads of money on dances, who came up to me and said... "im just leaving...but i wanted to say i think you are the best girl here... i wish i would have been able to talk to you earlier tonight but the girls are so agressive here and i couldnt get rid of the the ones that grabbed me when i walked through the door." /:O
*sigh
so.... does anyone else work in clubs that are REALLY overpacked with girls? how do you hustle in such an environment? im really starting to feel lost now .... :-[
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
When I Private dance (Vancouver Canada) on night shift there is usually between 25-35 girls, but in Summer it gets worse with girls traveling. Day shift is much better, but the guys don't spend right now a lot & they try to take advantage of your time.......I'm really feeling frustrated as well, because I am not a hustler....haha, I've been reading Hustle Hut like no tomorrow. I feel for you.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
I work in a bar that usually has 50 girls a night on average at the end of the week. The sister bar has upwards 65 on weekends during the busy season(winter). It gets hard when there are lots of girls, but I suggest calling your custos the night you know will be busy. If they don't come in, Always Look Busy!!! Either be in the dressing room, dancing, on stage, or talking to custos around the bar. Never tell the customers you're upset that there are alot of girls, even if they ask...If they ask if you're making money that night because of all the 'competition', tell them "I don't really see them as competition. It's really not how i operate love..." or something to that effect. You come across as confident, independent, and a busy dancer no one can get ahead of!
The confidence is truly key on packed nights! You can do it girl...let me know how it goes ok?
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
Be the first to get there. If you are very pretty, charming ,polite and know how to build good rapport quickly, the customer will feel that you "saved him" from the mob scene rather than feel bullied into a dance. The key is to walk up in a friendly non pushy manner as if its totally natural.. There are those guys who , no matter what, have to settle in, get a beer...whatever but more times than not in an over saturated club, the early bird gets the worm.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
I would say that the number of girls at my club doubled in the last two weeks... it totally sucks and is very hard to motivate myself to even go to work. I am very competitive and even if you have to hassle like you never hassled before --- just think about that there is always going to be guys who will spend money and it just has to be on you.
So... I agree, when there is a lot of competition around - you have to be first to get there. I usually wait until the guy orders a drink and then as the waitress leaves I come by "like hi... are you just getting in?", he would be like 'yes, just sit down". I would always say "Me too! just got in..." and start to lead him into a conversation. Yes, you will need to spend 2-3 songs talking, but if the club is busy with girls -- there is nothing better to do anyways.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
Give him the opposite of what he's expecting. Be one of the first ones to get to him...but instead of trying to pounce right away and yank him off for a dance like everyone else, set yourself apart from the mob scene in his eyes. Give him a sexy smile and say quietly in his ear, "you probably just want to relax for a minute, don't you? Let's get a table, and we can have a drink and watch the show."
Now you've just totally taken him off guard, and made yourself stand out and look more attractive (and less desperate). Who is he going to want more, one of the 374652934 girls who mobbed him before he's even got his coat off, or the one chill laid-back girl who's going to sit and chat for a bit before taking him in the back? You don't have to sit and talk for long, just for a drink or a few songs' worth of time.

Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
I was just telling another dancer the other day that the local customers don't know that all the girls are back into the swing of things so it could take some time before they start trickling in.
Then blammo! One day you'll notice the ratio is better and you'll have more money.
Even in this economy, sadly 8) guys will still be making their way in. Just you wait.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
If you work in London I have a fair idea where...anyways the way forward there is literally just that. Get in there first and make him settle in with you.
Also, try to get a sit-down rather than dances...if it's the club I think it is, the dances are so lame the guys are definitely there for company/conversation and usually they know what sort of cash they have to splash but will off course try to get away with less if you don't demand it!
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
i have the same problem in my club too. it's so bad that the manager has banned us from sitting at the bar. one or two girls in particular are always bombarding the customers at the door before they can even get a beer and it makes it a pretty hard environment to work in.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
The reason clubs get over-run with dancers is because as I have stated before, managers are incompetent and dont care about girls profits. All they care about is getting those house fees and the MORE GIRLS=MORE HOUSE FEES. This is how they can afford to run these cheapskate specials they always run 2 or 3 days a week. just do the math {girls X house fees(at your club)} and you can quickly see that the DANCERS ARE THE CLUBS BEST CUSTOMERS...they are consistent and are a free advertising tool for them. Dont forget that either.

I really like this idea. It would work SO WELL for my club in the early part of the shift. I've done this a few times and always made good money from it.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
I literally Ran up behind 2 guys while 2 other girls were walking up from the front. I leaned over and threw my arms around them and told them how great they must be because all these girls want them, but they're mine now. It was funny as hell. He had no idea, but the champagne people that sent me over were cracking up.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
I have the same problem and it sucks because guys that come in never want to buy dances from the first girl they talk to if she comes up to them immidietly, they want to sit and chill out for a bit. I like to give them about 7 or 10 minutes to get into the strip club mood before approaching them for dances, and if it's a group I like to go onstage to see which ones are checking me out. But some girls will stay there for 45 minutes because theres no other customers to talk to!
What I've been doing is mentioning to the DJ, wow, she's been talking to him for a while huh? I guess he's not interested in getting dances tonight or something... suddenly the girl is called on stage, even if she was at the bottom of the rotation. Or a 2 for 1 gets called and she had to get up if he says no. Sort of underhanded and bitchy, I know, but girls do it to me ALL the time as well.
Re: working in a club that is over-packed with dancers
The one club I worked at there was no house fee and yet the manager constantly over scheduled girls. This didn't effect my $$$ until the summer hit and a Friday night consisted of like 4 customers. I just never got the logic of scheduling too many dancers when it didn't even profit the club. Customers were constantly bombarded by girls as they made their rounds after dancing on stage. And the girls didn't just go around once or except the tip and move on. Guys could literally go broke in a half hour just tipping. I always thought it made more sense to schedule a reasonable amount of dancers discourage begging for dollars or humping a guys leg for a 3 dollar tip that way customers had more money to spend on dances which the club did profit from.

every entertainer pays a house fee...which is makes up for the loss of profit from non-existent customers.

No that was my point that club didn't have house fees (it was a dive). They got a cut from lap dances and champagne rooms. So when guys spent all their money in tips it didn't profit the club. It was poorly managed.

Wow. That makes no sense whatsoever.
