getting used to platforms
i just returned a pair of 7" clear platforms for a pair of 5" ones. i thought these would be much easier but i still feel like im not 100% comfortable (i certainly dance MUCH better barefoot)! what's the best way to get used to dancing in the heels?

When i first started dancing, I would walk around the house in them first to break them in. Now that I'm used to heels, I break them in by dancing when the business is slower and switching to something I'm used to when its busier. Also...if you are not used to heels, are you wearing stilletos? I found stilletos much harder to work in when i first started. I was able to walk in my 8 inche with fat heels shoes before i could dance in my 5 inch stilletos.

I've only worn platform. I've tryed on the other girls 6'' heals that don't have much platforms and those I wabble in them like no tomarrow. But.... I got use to my 7'' before I even started dancing. I wore them around my house, every time a good song came on I danced like no tomarrow. Then once I started working, durring the down time I'd stand close to the mirror and just dance seeing what looks good. Just wear them every chance you get.

if they don't feel sturdy enough, try something that has a thicker heel, that helps a lot of beginners. like wolfie and athena said, just wear them whenever possible. practice different moves in them. dance, squat, bend down, anything you can think of. just get used to them.

Thicker heels - get used to the height and the weight of them first and transition to stillettos. I used to twist my ankles terribly in stillettos (they didn't have an ankle strap.)
When I went back to heels I got a pair of Mary Janes, 6'' I think with a thick heel on them and it made all the difference in the world.

this might sound wierd, but get either a kitchen or bath towel and lay it on the floor. practice scrunching up the towel with your toes between your toes and the ball of your foot. this will strengthen your feet, especially your toes which balance you and allow you to maintain control in your platforms.
