adventures in the pharmacy
Ok, so I go to the pharmacy today. I went to the cvs up by UCSD, which is of course a nice college. I have to say, however, I was shocked to see two full end shelves full of valtrex.
Is it for the college kids, or is Lindsay Lohan in town and no one told me? ;D
Re: adventures in the pharmacy
Yes, because only dirty college kids and Lindsey could possibly have a strain of herpes.
Sorry, but this annoys me a little.
80 percent of Americans have some form of herpes, but usually the HSV-1 strain (i.e. cold sores). 45 million (ages 12 and up) have HSV-2 (genital herpes).
Herpes is extremely common, in all demographics.
Re: adventures in the pharmacy
It was a joke. I can't point fingers, I've had cold sores before, aka herpes simplex one.
However, when there are two full shelves of valtrex within 2 miles of a major uni, let's face it.... the joke creates itself.

Agreed. Cute joke. :)
The statistics gross me out though. One in four women it is estimated has genital herpes, and one in five men. I've never even had a cold sore. So I guess I am kind of paranoid.

Eek. Exactly why I never trust anyone claiming that they're clean. One in five men? I've encountered a lot of liars......
Re: adventures in the pharmacy
Well I hate to break it to everyone but the herpes thing is really crazy. I work at a walgreens pharmacy and almost all of them have a huge stock pile of valtrex.. It alarmed me at first too. It is kinda scarey that you really wouldnt know if someone had them or not especially if they were using the meds correctly.. Does anyone just come out and ask now a days? Ive started thinking Im going to automatically just assume they have it until i find out otherwise to be safe. -Jenn
Re: adventures in the pharmacy
I'm a guy and I have never had a cold sore in my life, sorry to disappoint
Re: adventures in the pharmacy
in our pharmacy we don't have a lot of valtrex in stock (it's expensive and a lot of insurance co. wont cover it), but Acyclovir is one of our "fast movers" (meaning a medication we dispense more than most..I literally fill scripts for this shit every damn day), which is used for herpes...yes..it is frightening.
