quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
I quit smoking a week ago, yesterday, and my profits have already gone up noticeably.
Aside from the obvious fact that I'm no longer spending $8 a day on smokes, and not smellng like smoke (or smelling like smoke covered by bodyspray), I'm also not taking smoke breaks anymore.
Think about it. Most of the strippers I know who smoke take at least one smoke break an hour. More if it's slow, less if we're suddenly busy, right? This is certainly what I was doing. And of course all the smokers hang out in the back together, often for longer than it actually takes to smoke that cig, to socialize or bitch about not making any money.
That's between 6 and 24 more minutes an hour I'm spending hustling for dances and not smoking, and it's paying off directly in my take-home profit, and again in the money I'm not spending on killing my hustle.

Congrats on quitting! That's awesome.
I wish clubs here were no-smoking. I hate reeking when I come home from work. And the second-hand smoke is bothersome, too--I feel like it makes the job so hard on my body.
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
Thanks for posting this too! I've cut down on smoking at work and holy cow am I doing better! It makes total sense if you think about it... every 15 or so minute break there could be "that guy" getting snagged up by another girl you could have gotten. And then the smell... yuck. None-smokers can smell even a perfume covered mouthwashed hands washed smoker.
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
That's awesome! Congrats!!!
At my club, you can't smoke on the floor. There's this hallway thing by the dressing room girls have to smoke in. I see the same girls spending lots of time back there while I'm out on the floor selling dances!
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
we all know smoking is bad for your health but yes it is also bad for your hustle now since in alot of places smoking is not allowed any longer. We also know that it is an extremely hard habit to break and if you are addicted to nicotine and can't light up you are going to be a bitch and not make any money. This is why I recommend nicorette gum. No smoke breaks and no nasty breath! Just keep chewing and hustling!
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
ive been planning on quitting for some time now, and i actually did it! 5 days so far! i smell much better at work, even though i still go home with that awful strip club smell...whatever it is, all the bars ive been to smell the same...
i have noticed a small increase, because im not wasting my time chain smoking like i used to when i'd drink or be nervous. hard to find something to do with my hands nw though, i feel weird, waiting for my drink without my trusty old friend in my left hand, vodka tonic in my right, on the side of the bar with all the other smokers. a little more energy too, after the withdrawls were over!!
if i can quit, any of you guys can do it too!
best of luck, Lydia

^^^^ Congratulations! I quit in January! I used to smoke a pack a day for four years! It's really important to push yourself for a week cold turkey, you have to detox the nicotine out of your bloodstream, then your cravings will be 99.9% gone! Quitting smoking was the BEST decision I ever made! Yes, you will make tons more money at work, and spend much less on cigs. Check out this website for more info, or if you get a craving www.whyquit.org
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
I've been thinking about this a lot - I've been smoking for several years now, and I'm up to as much as a pack a day. I calculated how much time I actually spent smoking at work, and considering I take 2 smoke breaks an hour at about 15 minutes a pop - I'm spending HALF my time in the DR smoking!
So if I'm working an 8-hour shift, I'm spending 4 hours smoking - and 2 hours total on stage. That leaves me only 2 hours to actually get my hustle on. :O I was trying to figure out why I wasn't making as much money as when I first started - but I was only at a little under half a pack then, and I tended to not smoke at work. For whatever reason, I smoke MORE at work now than I do anywhere else.
Wow. That hits home. lol AND - with my cigs up to 8 bucks a pack, between my boyfriend and I, we're spending almost $500 a month on freaking smokes! That's more than our car payments!
Also, thanks for that website JD - some interesting stuff on there indeed.
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
Whats really scary is when you add up how much time PER YEAR you spend smoking.... for me it was about two weeks, per year, I waste smoking cigarettes! To me, smoking is the most pointless self destructive, money and time consuming thing you could possibly do, and that's coming from a former smoker who smoked a pack a day for four years. Women don't quit because they're worried about weight gain, I gained about two lbs, which are already gone.
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
I was going to do that as well before I even seen this link. I was like when this pack is over, im done...b/c i also noticed i spent a lot of time doing that instead of other useful money making things i could be doing... so once this pack is done i was gonna quit... cold turkey too, last time I tried, the pill didnt work, didnt try the gum or the patch.
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
My weight's still holding steady, JD. I may have gained pound or two, but I think that has to do with not making it to the gym.
Over a month strong!
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
Yay to all who quit smoking...and an advance "yay" to all those who are thinking of quitting.
I quit six years ago because one of the bartenders got throat cancer and now has one of those traech things that make you sound like a robot. I smoked American Spirits, which are hard to quit 'cuz since it's all tobacco, it's all nicotine. Anyway, I quit cold turkey, and the detox was HORRIBLE. I went to the doctor thinking I was just really sick, and she asked if I still smoked. I said no, I quit about 3 days ago, cold turkey.
The doc said I was going through withdrawls (nicotine is a drug), and after 10 years of smoking, and quitting cold turkey I got...vomiting, diarrhea, fever chills, the shakes...I was coughing up a rainbow of colors...my eyes were oozing and red...my ears and throat felt like they were on fire...my lymph nodes were swollen...my joints ached...not fun at all.
So whenever I get a craving (when I watch movies of TV shows with a lot of smoking), I think of the withdrawls.
After 6 years of being a non-smoker, I feel great...except that I got allergies 3 years ago.
Oh, to satiate your oral fixation and need to eat...suck on a cinnamon stick.
Good Luck;)
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
The cinnamon stick thing is a really good tip! What I did was sip orange and mango iced tea flavored crystal light. I would just sip it throughout the day just to have a taste in my mouth, also drinking so much water helped tremendously with the detox.

I went through something similar, the first time I quit; I had gone from two packs a day for a couple of years to quitting (with the patch, and I lasted for 3 years as a non-smoker, if anyone's curious). It sucked.
I chew a lot of gum (Dentyne Ice-- it's strong minty, and small enough to hide in my cheek to look like I'm not chewing gum, if neccessary). Also, for times when gum just isn't enough, (like in traffic; driving always made me want to smoke, traffic still does) I have an egg of metallic colored Silly Putty to occupy my smoking hand with.
Re: quitting smoking = increase in hustle = increase in profit!
I quit smoking 3 years ago. I smoked menthols, which are supposedly even worse for your body than regular cigs. I quit mostly for vanity reasons, fear of wrinkles, yellow teeth, smelling like an ashtray, ect.
