Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
Okay, so I applied to a local club a few weeks ago and said I couldn't start until May 12 because of finals. I got tied up with other stuff, but I finally emailed someone there last week. She was very friendly and helpful, and told me to call regarding my app. I talked to someone today, who was also nice and he basically told me to come in at 7:15 tonight, with two forms of ID, an outfit and some songs, and that I'd work until 2:30 in the morning.
First of all, is that normal? Perhaps they're not that picky..?
Second, I'm making a mental list of what to bring:
- Two outfits
- Two pairs of shoes
- Touch-up makeup and necessary hair stuff (spray, brush)
- Over-the-knee stocking-like socks that matches my outfits
- Mints
- A little purse thing (if I can find it, ahh!)
- Baby wipes
- Emergency tampons. Even though it's the end of the cycle, just in case D: And scissors, of course for that matter
- Banana and a snack. Maybe a book?
- Wallet, cell, lock
Does that sound like a good amount of crap to lug?
The only time I ever stripped was amateur night, and after that I was like, "HELL YEAH I CAN DO THIS!" But this club has a pole, not the one I danced at before. I'm feeling quite intimidated by the pole, as I'm still being careful on such tall shoes. Are guys going to expect a whole lot of pole work in general? Can I get away with "la-la-la I have my hand on the pole, dance dance, get down on the ground, hello meet my butt, thank you sir!"
Also, what's the good etiquette with other dancers, being the new one? I'm so afraid I'll tick someone off. I did had a good conversation with a dancer last time I went there who was really nice, and said all the girls there are nice (I hope I hope) and a friend of a friend's ex works there. I don't want to be that stupid new girl who does stupid things.
Ahh, I'm all frenzied, any advice would be great! I'm so nervous, but excited!! :D
Re: Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
Wow that is so exciting, congrats! I think you sound pretty set, and I think the consensus is that fancy pole tricks aren't necessary. Use it as a prop, like sliding your back down it, or even to steady yourself as you prance around and introduce your butt (lol that cracked me up)
So I think you'll survive, and probably have a fun time. Good luck and enjoy yourself! Let us know how it goes!
Re: Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
Thank you!! :D I will do a report afterward!
Haha, I just went crazy trying to make sure everything's okay, and swinging my leg up on the wall and yelling at my boyfriend, "DOES IT LOOK OKAY?! IS EVERYTHING OKAY DOWN THERE?!" And I cut myself shaving and there's still some bike or fuel pump oil embedded in my hand. Oh, I'm making myself too strung out here.
I will infuse myself with the strength of Stripper Web to get me through the night!
Re: Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
Yes, you absolutely can get by with the routine you described. Don't be scared of the pole. The pole is your friend, especially since you can grab onto it if you start to wobble in the heels.
Etiquette for dealing with the dancers is, be polite, smile, but don't speak too much unless spoken to. I always try to keep my distance. If the girls are friendly to you, by all means, be friendly back. But don't go over the top trying to MAKE friends. Like you, they are there to work, and they may not feel like chatting up a new girl who they aren't sure will stick around anyway.
Sounds like you are in good shape for your first night. good luck!
Re: Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
You'll do fine! You seem really prepared!
Re: Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
Ah, dang it, I had a huge reply set-up then my browser crashed. Okay. Summary.
- Get there early to fill out paperwork, get ready, etc.
- Other girls start arriving, I'm a little nervous.
- 10 minutes before opening, the power goes out due to construction fuck-up across the street.
- Sitting in the upstair's dance (dance-dance not strip dance) club, since it's the only place that has windows, quietly and lonely with a bunch of strippers.
- End up talking to a couple girls. Then, a game of musical chairs start. It was hilariously fun.
- Finally, power comes on a little before 10. Two whole hours gone!
- While it's slow, two girls are super nice and show me some pole tricks.
- The night was actually pretty damn slow and there were a lot of girls there. I only got three dances, but they were full nude. I went on stage twice, once when we first opened and no one was there. I made $48 after tip-out. I did overhear one girl say she only got two dances, so maybe I did okay.
- One guy made me feel super uncomfortable. He came in late close to closing (maybe an hour or so before) and bought me a drink and we sat down and talked. It was actually pretty fun, because it was dead and no one else was coming in and all the other men were occupied. But he kept propositioning me, and "accidentally" grabbed my boob when he dropped his phone, stuff like that. I kept trying to push a dance, and after awhile, I slipped away and told a bouncer. Two of them immediately were worried and asked me to point him out. The guy saw me when I peeked in the doorway D: and I hurried to the dressing room and hid for a bit. It was like, 2:15, so only 15 minutes before closing so I guess it was okay. Another stripper, who had previously helped me on the pole, advised me to next time string a guy along like that, and I agreed and thanked her, but said I had been so nervous, I just couldn't think straight with him. I hope that was an okay handle on the situation..
I did have one point in the night where I was like, "Man, I want to go home. I'm lonely." Maybe it was slow, or what, I dunno. I can go back tonight, which I really hope it will be okay.
Okay, and another note. I got so sweaty, I could sense myself stinking, so I ran to the bathroom and wiped down with baby wipes and washed my pits :D Any secrets to this? I actually have an oversweating problem, so this is something I'm uber paranoid about. Do any of you carry like, deodorant or perfume in your purse??
Re: Tonight's the night. I'm nervous!!
Sounds like you did everything right, and kept pushing that guy for dances. Uncool that he's trying to get a free grope though, definitely move on after a few minutes if he's not budging on dances. As far as I know running to the dressing room to wipe off is totally common, everybody sweats but we're supposed to pretend we don't have bodily functions :P
anyway just keep trying to improve and I'm sure your money will too. if not, there's always other clubs, and now you've got some experience under your belt. or g-string. same difference lol
