Dancing at a ghetto club
I've been working in Dallas for the past four and half years, and I have always worked at the upscale clubs. I've also worked at the Rhino in Vegas and PH in NOLA, two other really nice clubs. The money here is really drying up due to the fact that the high rollers aren't coming in as consistently. At the upscale clubs in Dallas girls make money by selling champagne rooms and VIP. There's really very little money to be made doing dances, and the stage tips are non existent for the most part. I've decided to go work at a ghetto club. This club is in a different area, off Harry Hines, and is consistently busy, but with a different crowd. It's definitely more ethnically diverse, for lack of a better term, but the guys there throw money on stage and buy tons of dances. I went and checked it out as a customer, and it seemed decent. There's no VIP or funny money, but hey the guys that come in do spend, just not large amounts like the customers at other clubs. At this point, if I can make a consistent 200 or more a night it would be worth it. The other clubs are flooded with girls, and I can't take having to look perfect every time I work. It's getting really cut throat! I would rather work somewhere with lackluster girls and not have to spend two hours getting ready just to measure up to the other dancers. I'm not trying to sound like a total snob, I'm just fed up with all the competition, and fighting over the 1 or two whales that actually do come in. It makes for a hostile environment. Anyways, I'm really embarrassed to even tell anybody I'm planning on working here. Have any of you guys down graded clubs for this reason? Did it work out?

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
Only once, but I actually was already working both clubs and left the higher end club because I made money easier at the lower end club and didn't want to work so many hours. My advice is don't change your appearance or dance style because it will help you to stand out for the old whales who have also down graded clubs and will still spend on you.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
Um if money is drying up in your club we're all screwed! Do you mean the club is "ghetto" like customers with grills making it rain and girls with tatts on the neck or a club that is less upscale than what you are accustomed to?
I did work at a club that was "ghetto" for a while but was eventually run out for not doing extras. The money was good for a minute though because I had that sophisticated look

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
^^^ I don't know what club she works at, but I do know that many of the chain clubs are having financial problems in their top tier clubs. The customers are opting for the lower end clubs where they can get more for their money.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
This club is actually not dirty, or that was the general impression that I got. It's just, well, ghetto. In a seedy part of town, low class, basic nothing fancy club. It's the kind of club that Lodge girls wouldn't even THINK about stepping foot into. I really don't care, I know some girls are kind of snobby and think they are too good to work somewhere, but I don't discriminate, money is all green to me!
That doesn't surprise me Kylea. Guys aren't blowing thousands like they used to, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just not as often. I'm just trying to adapt to the industry and follow the money flow.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
^^^ Looking at those clubs right now may be a good move. I might suggest that you stay on working at the current place possibly 1 day a week.. but let your customers know they can also come see you at the new club. A few will probably like the ambiance at the old club and prefer to see you there - but some of them may be more willing to come over to the new club and just buy lap dances most of the night.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
Honestly, I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of. A savvy dancer goes where the money is. I've seem bombshells in dives--girls who could've had their pick of any club.
Working in a run-down (but lucrative) club doesn't make you a run-down dancer. It makes you a smart dancer who doesn't let her ego dictate her money.
-
Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
^Agreed. Leave the girls who are too good to go somewhere else at your old club and let them duke it out over the whales.
I don't dance at upscale clubs because I am more comfortable at midlevel places. A few months ago I went to a rundown club in a small town with a friend who was too fat to work anywhere else, I agreed to work with her a few times until she was comfortable going by herself.
Most of the dancers (sometimes all) were pretty unattractive or they were ok and their outfits were ridiculous. You know, the type that buy those Joe Boxer 2 piece sets and wear them on the stage. I figured they were new dancers but they were dancing for months! Crazy.
Anyhow, I began working and made money very easily. I didn't have to sell VIP rooms, the guys came to the stage to tell me they were ready to go! Other clubs it was like pulling teeth to get a $25 dance. I did enjoy being a big fish in a little pond for once.
I was a bit ashamed telling people where I was at, but oh well I made money.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I think it opens the eyes to work at a smaller club. You learn a whole knew type of hustle, and frankly, yes there is plenty of money to be made in the whole in the wall places. Bring your customers with you.
I would go back and forth from small clubs to big clubs because of the fact that I get tired of the bull shit at big "fancy" clubs. The fact is a dollars a dollar and it all spends the same. If you don't make good money you can always go back. Just never ever leave a place in hostility, that way if you want to go back you can.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I'm thinking about this also. I was doing better in the ghetto club I started at, but I moved to a different club because so many people said I was "better" than that and would make more money at the other, nicer club. Well I've been struggling ever since I moved "up" in clubs and am seriously considering going back down the ladder lol. I don't care how many people would make fun of me because of it, it's stupid to not follow the money just because of your ego.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
Yeah Susie you 're right there is a lot of bs at big clubs. At the club I worked at I pretty much came and left whenever I wanted (within reason), didn't have to make a schedule, had a low tip out (house fee- I think DJ is 10% everywhere!)and the girls for the most part were respectful of each other. Then you work somewhere like Scores for instance, the house fee was ridiculously high, the girls were all bithces unless I new them from another club, you had to be on the floor by 7 pm or were fined and on and on. I actually made more money at the lower end club.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I agree with Gia. I worked at the fanciest club in my city, but the rules and schedule requirements were giving me a nervous twitch. Now I downgraded to a blue collar wanna dance club, and I'm still making awesome money and my twitch is gone. Also the higher ended clubs tend to go through major ups and downs , while my blue collar place is pretty much stable all year round.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
There is nothing wrong with lower tier clubs, but I agree with Kylea 2 u should stay at your old club 1nght even if just for a while, I have worked in the top clubs in london and strip pubs which alot of club girls look down on and I did great in them Guys were so surprised to see a British nice girl in them and used to say what are u doin here all the time, In fact for a good while they would ask me for dances!, the hours were shorter it was great, Im even thinkin of goin back cos it would fit my life more than a club right now. forget the snobby strippers leave them to stress in the big clubs, when club girls are like err I could neva work in a pub, Im like good more money for me, goodluck in your new club.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I too downgraded (scale wise) to a different club b/c of the money. It's hard not to feel weird about it, but it's the smart thing to do. I'm kind of embarrassed now when my out of town regulars ask where I'm working. I get worrried whether or not they will be comfortable visiting me in the new club. I am reminded I did the right thing every time I drive by the Lodge on the way to my club and see how empty their customer parking lot is. Definately go where the money is and don't be afraid of change.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
^^^^^Do you live in Dallas too? If so where do you work (the ghetto club)^^^^^^

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I agree with everyone else here: there's nothing wrong with downgrading. I just switched to a lower scale club and I LOVE IT!!! The money's much easier, the place is more fun, and I don't have to put in as much effort getting ready (thought I still do).
Just make sure your attitude adjusts with the atmosphere. I find that when girls downgrade, they're stuck in that snobby "I've worked in some of the best clubs in the country" mindset and therefore don't treat the customers as nicely as they should. When I switch to a lower caliber club, I value the customers just as much as I do in the high end clubs. For the guys, they've got a gorgeous girl chilling with them, and she's super nice too... JACKPOT! Easy money.
Hold on to your job at the old club just so you have it and your regulars can come see you if they're not comfortable going to the new place, but still, go get money.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
When you work at a ghetto club, you have to be very careful of your surroundings, especially if they don't have valet parking and not enough lighting around the area. I think I've learned my lesson now.:)
-
Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I pretty much agree with what everyone else has said - a dollar is a dollar no matter which club it came from! If you think there is better and easier money at a lower-scale club than the one you're at currently, then head there and collect up that money!
I do think it could be a good idea just to keep one foot in the door though at your old club. That was you can take time to see if any of your customers want to transition over to your new club with you, and if you find the new club isn't for you then you won't have burned your bridges by leaving where you are now. Also, you never know when a rich custie might want you specifically to come in there to see him so he can spend on you now and then.
PS, is that you in your avatar pic? Coz if so, you're h.o.t!! I would be spending my cash on ya for sure lol!

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
My favourite clubs I ever worked at were not uber-fancy like the clubs here in LV. I can honestly say, after a year, I made more than double a night at both of those clubs than I have at any mega-club here.
Go. I bet you will end up loving it.

Re: Dancing at a ghetto club
I make money in the hood even though they say i sound white n shit. It's cool i guess i have a different vibe than the hoodrats so i'm kinda like a commodity, i'm a lil snobby tho- but just so nobody tries to fuck with me, lol

I agree. If we listened to other people, we probably also wouldn't be dancers.;)
