i had that same problem with these kick ass boots from them. I kind of just got used to it, then when i got a new pair of shoes with tread had to adjust my dancing to account for the fact that i had friction lol. I also bought a pair of shoes from them but that problem is more amplified in shoes than in boots; plus they were designed so my feet kept sliding down.
I would say go to a shoe repair store and ask them to fix it. Usually shoe repair is not too pricey, and for an awesome pair of shoes it can be worth it.
I have seen a self adhesive pad to go on the bottom of the shoe to stop the slipping. I'm not sure wear to purchase it though.
^^^ I buy those at the same place I purchase my shoes, but I believe Payless also carries them.
Definitely take it to a shoe repair person. Those pads lift off and twist. I found them to be a temporary fix and a waste of money. Good for perhaps one night or two.
A shoe repairer can replace the rubber under your shoe which can extend the life of your shoe. One guy I used to go to, I took the shoes to him fresh out the box and he put a different texture of rubber on my heels and it was so comfy and 'sticky' (you know some shoes are so smooth they slide around on stage I hate that) I loved it.
Most places I've been to were $8-$12 for a pair to be resoled.
Agreed. The guy who fixes my shoes also puts leather insoles instead of those felt ones and they are waaaayyy more comfy.
I've tried those adhesive no-slip pads and they didn't work at all. They're slicker on the stage than the original soles were. Since they were designed for street shoes I'm guessing they only increase traction on more abrasive surfaces like concrete and asphalt. I've had shoes re-soled with fantastic results. The repair place put on really good quality soles - outlasted everything... shoes were stolen before they wore out!
don't spend money on the little grippy sticker things, i nearly busted my ass repeatedly with them. take your shoes to a shoe repair, and they'll be fixed right the first time.
I've noticed with pleasers that the rubber sole tends to separate from the shoe, and if you glue it with superglue then it just comes apart again later..... one trip to the shoe repair guy, and no issues.
