Looking to start dancing, have a couple of issues/questions
Hey! I'm a newb, have done a few go-go gigs here and there but never actual stripping. I feel like I'd be damn good at it, however, since I'm good at hustling (making my living as a street performer right now- there ain't no harder hustle than that!) and I've got dance skills. I make anywhere from $100-$500 a day street performing, so I don't need to make seriously big bucks- I mainly just want to supplement my income, have fun, and be flexible schedule-wise while doing it.
I have a couple of questions/issues first, though.
First off: I have dreads. Long, dark brown dreads. I'm half Middle Eastern, so I have really kinky hair. The only way it looks halfway presentable is in dreadlocks- otherwise, it's just a completely unmanageable jewfro. I usually wear my dreads tied back into a high ponytail, and they hang down to mid-back this way. They're very tight and neat, none o' those crappy messy hippie white girl dreads. But, will these hurt my chances of getting hired in the Northeast? I can rock the dark, slightly gothy look as the other half of my ancestry is Eastern Europe and the British Isles, so I'm pale as death with grey-blue eyes and long lashes. I'm looking primarily at Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and eastern New York.
The other question I have has to do with cover-up. I'm a circus acrobat in my day job (I'm hoping this will give me a leg-up on pole skills, and I'm sure being able to put my foot on my head in a full split will be a plus), and as a result have some pretty gnarly bruises on the backs of my knees and on my hips, pretty much constantly. What's to do about this, especially if I end up working in an all-nude club where I can't leave booty shorts on to cover up the hips?
Here are a couple of (very low-quality, sorry guys, in-computer cameras suck ass) pics of me and my hair:

Also, a few stage names I'm considering, feedback would be appreciated:
Indigo
Azrael
Paige
Ariel
Aeyo
And, an unlikely contender from a friend of mine, but one I like for quirk value if nothing else: Trouble
Thanks!

Every club is different. You're cute so I'm sure you won't have any problem finding one that will hire you. Whatever look you go for, as long as you look hot and can rock it you should be fine. Personally I think dreads are hot. I'm a total goth chick and didn't have any problem at all. The biggest thing really is personality (which it sounds like you have!).
As for stage names, pick something easy. You're gonna be saying it 100x's a night, the DJ is gonna have to announce you over the mic and in a loud, noisy club it makes life so much easier to have a pronouncable name. I can't tell you how many drunk guys even fuck the easy names up.
Re: Looking to start dancing, have a couple of issues/questions
I think you're super hot- but I love kinky girls with dreads... or.. girls with kinky dreads :)
Since you have a more alternative look and you're in massachusetts- go for a more normal name. If you were somewhere rad like portland, you could totally rock the hair and crazy name, but you're not. You should go to portland and dance, especially because you're a circus performer, dancers out in portland are some of the most talented in the country- lots of clubs are stage only and they let you be creative on stage- hula hooping, fire dancing, contortion- whatever.
do ittt!!!
Re: Looking to start dancing, have a couple of issues/questions
also dont worry about the bruising because girls who do a lot of floor work or pole tricks tend to get bruised up anyway so it shouldn't affect your money. everyone is pretty much aware of the fact that the bruising is part of the job.. but i must admit.. i am pretty jealous that u are so flexible! good luck! hope everything works out!
Re: Looking to start dancing, have a couple of issues/questions
I like the name Paige for you, it's a lil different but not crazy out there - names that can fit with lots of people's ideas of what they want are good :)
The dreads are nice, I like them, and like the others have said, there are many kinds of girls in clubs. However I have no experience out east. I think if you pushed for exotic rather than alternative it could definately work for you though :) like genie-esque costumes, sultry makeup etc...
Re: Looking to start dancing, have a couple of issues/questions
Oooh I like the idea of genie-esque costumes for you! I think the dreads are really hot, but you definitely will have to glam it up a lot instead of being one of those girls with a more natural/minimal look.
You should probably be fine as long as you find the right club, so do some research on that first. I have big ridiculous synth dreads and I also dance in the Northeast, it wasn't a problem but my options were somewhat limited. Just try to find a place that is tolerant of alternative looks and customers probably will not mind, especially if you are distracting them with crazy contortionist tricks!
Re: Looking to start dancing, have a couple of issues/questions
You can use foundation on the bruises, if they're on your hips bottoms that tie at the side can be helpful to hide them. But honestly in the light of the strip club guys won't really notice them, and they're not really what they're concerned with anyway. :)
