How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
How bad has this bad economy affected the strip club industry ? Have you seen a major down turn in customer traffic ? Have the customers been spending less ?
Being a big General Contractor I have seen a huge decline in new builds and remodels. I specialize in the high end market where majority of my customers are or were cash rich and not credit rich. So I see more and more people holding onto there cash in these tough times. Just really curious if the SC industry was experiencing the same negative conditions.
I have never been a fan of going to strip clubs in the past so I really don't have anything to go off.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
I imagine the really high end clubs are still doing fairly well. There are still a lot of guys around with big money to spend. My home club is very middle of the road. Traffic seems down some but not significantly. Spending, according to what I am told, is way down. I know I am guilty of spending a lot less because I don't have it to spend right now. And also according to what I am told, the customer expectations per dollar spent have gone up, especially as related to experienced clubbers. As Earl points out, this is both a good and bad situation depending upon your point of view.

I am glad you are getting more for your money.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
In LV there's really only three clubs that are doing well. I hear some pretty dismal stories from some of my friends in smaller clubs.
My club hasn't really been affected except on the day shift. It used to be great, but now it's a ghost town, so I switched to night shift. Then again, that could be due to LV being very seasonal.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
I have noticed a big change in my club. There are definately less customers and the ones that do come in are less willing to spend their money. A couple of months ago i was making $500-600 easily on dayshift. Now i'm struggling to make over $100! Times are hard!:(

The entire club experience is better for the customer. They are almost treated like customers in any establishment that knows the customer provides the money and is why they exist.
I no longer notice a complete contempt for customers that was prevalent before the crash.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
Up until 2 weeks ago, I was the positive, happy "economy-schmonomy!" girl and still making my usual.
I dunno what has happened, but the past two weeks I have struggled to make $100 (before tipout) each night. A shockingly LESS amount of traffic through the door. I always said "quality over quantity" and would still do well on a "slow" night as I could find my one prince charming to take me to VIP and stay there. I haven't seen the inside of the VIP for two weeks.
Not to mention, I lost a regular to the whole "I'm starting to fall for you" scenario. He gave me the ultimatum of seeing him outside the club last week, and well needless to say we had to end things there. He said he'd never be back. Alot of girls are making money doing OTC dates with customers, but it's just one thing I never have and never will do, so oh well too bad so sad for me.
The other night I really started to freak out, as I am scared my only source of income is dwindling to a total halt. I have been on the mad hunt for a "real" job, been filling out several apps a day online. Also been checking Craigslist every day hoping a restaurant or something in my neighborhood will be hiring.
I am debating on going in tonight, but I am afraid. After tipout Sunday night (the last night I worked) I came home with $10. It's scary. It's also my only source of any income right now, so I basically have to force myself to go in and smile, smile, smile! I just hope I can make a couple hundred before the week is over, if not we are FUCKED on our electric bill and money for groceries.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
^^ That's precisely what I am doing. Scouring local hospitals for restaurants for jobs. I also hate that I had to swap shifts, but at least now I am making a profit. In my reluctance to go to nights and trying to tough it out on days, I didn't turn a profit for two weeks. Made my house fee back, and that's it. FOR TWO WEEKS. It blew.

From the limited perspective of frequent traveler: Mixed. :juggle:
Two "mid-tier" clubs in Midwest (eg, non pretentious, no gimmick clubs with reasonable LD prices) are busy as ever with constant stream to LD couches.
Out in SoCal, with 1 club that has 2 tier day/night price structure (more expensive nights) I've not made a single night visit there in over 18 mos, and have noticed on website schedule, a decline from 8 or so dancers on night to 5 or so many nights. Day shift seems unaffected, I've seen 2 former perrenial nighters shift to days. In another club, the early evening hrs. seem deader, with it getting more crowded later than before (10pm vs 9pm). I haven't noticed any clubs going out of business, though.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
^ My best friend's home club is like the second club you mentioned, only a bit more extreme. There used to be as many as 80 dancers on night shift. Last night, there were 6. It's pretty brutal at her spot.

I have noticed the opposite; more dancers per shift as the house makes money on each dancer. This does not increase the customer base though as they become overwhelmed and leave.

I wonder if LV in general is hurting. My financial situation hasn't changed due to the economy, but I used to go there twice a year (to both gamble and go to strip clubs). But the sucky economy has just made me not want to spend money, just in case.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
clubs are keeping their profits from completely nosediving through the magic of housefees from women who think a few nights in the club will solve their financial woes. there is a definite increase in ladies paying to work, and that is propping up falling liquor and vip sales.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
There are certain guys who will never spend a dime on SCs whether economy was bad or good; whether he was rich or poor.
It seems like biggest spenders in the strip clubs are the guys who can least afford it. Am I correct?

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
...seeing more night shift dancers arriving early and hitting the floor pissing off day shift girls. Seeing more girls looking for stable part time work to pay bills. Have not heard girls gossiping about non-extras girls resorting to extras to pay bills. Seeing more girls trying to rotate around clubs in town looking for the money. Vice has been quiet maybe due to city budget cutbacks.

What has led you to this incorrect conclusion?

While I'm sure this is this case for most, my own personal experiance has been the opposite. I don't know if it's because dancers at the clubs I've visited are resigned to the fact there's little money out there or not but my last three trips to the club I've left with about $1000 I fully intended on spending.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
My club is a little emptier during the week, but honestly, while the amt is a couple hundred less than "normal" my money has still been consistent.

This point seems irrelevant in asking how the economy is effecting SC's.

Cyril, is this another one of your "observations" based on your very limited experience? Yes, there are some SC customers who spend beyond their means. However, it appears counterintuitive to say those who can least afford it would be the biggest spenders.

Re: How bad has this economy affected the strip club industry ?
I havent seen any change on my part. I still go to the club and get the same treatment i have gotten over the past years. If anything i have seen new older non dancers come in and try to make money. I must admit, it is very entertaining to see someone that has no clue try to do this. They normally give up on the seductive dance and go straight for the grind.

Yes guilty as charged. :D
Following observation is based on real life and is not limited in nature:
The guys who have money do not need to spend money to get a woman's attention. The guys who do not have money have to spend money to get a woman's attention. So it seems like guys in the latter category are hitting the strip clubs to get a woman's attention.
Do you disagree?
