It seems like in your first sentence, you're saying that if I feel like I have to make a certain amt of $$$ to be okay w/stripping, then I shouldn't do be a stripper.
But then in your second part, you say that your philosophy is that: if you only make a certain amount of money that isn't enough to you, then it's not even worth working that night.
I'm not sure how your opinion differs from mine? It sounds like we both don't think that it's worth it to work if the money isn't to our standards. Or am I missing something?
Edit:
Your blog about stripping concerns a dancer who made $200 in 4 hours. Now to complain about that is silly - I completely agree with you, as it does break down to $50/hour (though that $50 doesn't include the subtraction of taxes.) However, since I only made $100 in 7 hours, that breaks down to about $14.30/hour. This does not include the time that it took me to prepare for work - hair and makeup. I obviously won't count driving and taking a shower, since most people do that for work. They also do hair and makeup, but they don't have to do it to same extent. We will round to $15/hour, and after taxes (since I think that I read to take 1/3 out on here if you don't have someone else helping you w/your taxes), it breaks down to about $10/hr. So, if I consistently made $100/shift and worked 5 shifts/week, I'd be making a total of $17,500/year with 2 weeks vaca, and this amt doesn't include preparation time for the job (that most jobs don't have), during which I don't get paid anything.
Also, it's hard to compare working stripper shifts vs. working other jobs, IMHO. There's a reason why many girls don't work more than 4 shifts/week, I would imagine, and it's not necessarily bc they have other jobs, are going to school, or are "lazy."
Re: $100 night - I don't understand what went wrong :(
I've made as little as $-20 and as much as $3500. Uncertainty is the name of the game. Look at averages instead of individual nights.

i'm a little puzzled by this too... it sounds like you're saying we all attach a different premium to our time and efforts as dancers which i agree with. but i also definitely command a certain minimum for taking off my clothes and wiggling- i ain't doing it for my health you know. and as my non-stripper opportunities have improved, my tolerance for lower $/hour has went down accordingly.

My personal viewpoint on it has shifted over the years. In the early years I loved being topless, running around, etc regardless of how much I made because it was more than I was making as a teacher (a job I HATED) Then I got my head screwed on straight, saw it as a business, got my boobs done and adopted the "I paid top dollar to buy these, by golly you are going to pay top dollar to see them" take-no-prisoners SuperStripper attitude. Your personal opinion on nudity, money, what salary you can command in the mainstream job market, and how much you allow stripping to affect your real life are going to be the deciding factors for you. I wrote a blog
over two years ago about the equivalent of crappy $200/nights.
That was an awesome post. I've had to look at it that way many times. Hell, last night I walked with 360, which is crappy for a saturday at my club. BUT, I was also being lazy (didn't want to burn myself out, and the floor wasn't very good for most of the night) and when I walked, i thought "I was at work for nine hours, but only on the floor for six at the most. So, that's $40 per hour of being at the club, and $60 per hour of actually working. Not fucking bad."

After i got my boobs done i made my first real money i was a 100 percent in my mind and attitude confident that they should have no excuse not to invest in my time when i took the time and money to invest 7grand in my body for them.
In my mind i was like "every custie has no excuse. Im here, im what they came for, they will and they need to pay me." "I paid for my boobs you will compensate me for your viewing pleasure."
I honestly wonder if it was my attitude or the actual c cups that made my money triple.
It tripled literally.
(Also to the posts above Britney Ireland said that her viewpoint has shifted i think she was describing that ).
Re: $100 night - I don't understand what went wrong :(
I think alot of dancers will use the economy as an excuse why there not makeing money, theres still money to be made you just have to work for it and do your best.Get your confidence up buy a new outfit, workout at the gym.Ive never made less then 400$ a 4 to 6 hour shift and ive only been danceing a year and a half.My first night i made a 100$ I thought about never going back, but then I did my research i bought ebooks on stripping, and books on attracting men like super flirt, sales books.I quickly became the top earner fom hard work it pays off.I even got my dream boob job from my opinion the best plastic surgeon located in Beverly hills.Good luck to all of you and believe theres money to made think positive :)
p.s. I notice at my club I see alot of the girls hanging out togather at work instead of makeing money, your at work to make money not friends.
Re: $100 night - I don't understand what went wrong :(
I'm looking at day jobs in my field and the pay cut/amount of work ratio is EXTREME--jobs are scarce, raises and promos are scarcer, and I'll be very, very lucky to find a 15/hr job with benefits (my goal, since I'm 20,000 in debt from school)...right now, any time I work, I think, 20 bucks an hr is damn good when I consider all the shit jobs I've held in the past--dishwashing, bussing, hosting, cocktail "bunny," daycare worker, home health aid, telephone sales, door-to-door canvassing...all of which I busted my ass at, often had to wear humiliating uniforms, heard a ton of "NO" and all manner of abuse heaped on me from rotten customers, sexually harassing bosses, fucked up payrolls, etc. etc. Dancing is hard work, but MAN it is so much easier money than any of those jobs. Period.
Why are you grinding on penis? Do you have to? Tell customers, "I took a pay cut in this shit economy, pay extra if you want the same treatment as before." Who cares what they think? If they want it, they'll pay...
Re: $100 night - I don't understand what went wrong :(
I think those who are still making at least $400 / shift are lucky. It's hard to make that nightly in a club where the girls outnumber the guys all night long and every girl is desperate. Every guy is occupied all night, and if you happen to be fortunate enough to land on the one spender for the night, you're gold. If you happen to land on the rest of the broke losers in the room, forget it.
You can't make the money if it simply isn't there. Unfortunately, in most clubs these days, the money simply is not there. I'm sure we'd all love to find that magical club where there is still plenty of money.
