question re: Deja Vu clubs
I started out as a bartender in a Deja Vu club on the east coast. Then I switched to dancing there. After I realized I hated dancing, the manager said it wasn't possible for me to go back to bartending. :-\ (I ended up getting a bartending job at another SC).
Now I'm moving to SF, where pretty much EVERY club is owned by Deja Vu, and I'm afraid I won't be able to get hired as a bartender in any of the clubs b/c I've danced at a DV club before.
Anyone who has experience/knowledge of DV clubs...is it possible to dance at one club and later work as bar staff at another? Is it only that you can't go from dancer to bartender at the same club...or are you blacklisted from bartending at all Deja Vu-owned clubs if you've ever danced at one? :O
Re: question re: Deja Vu clubs
Your not blacklisted. Unless someone really really looks into it, they're not gonna know your danced for Deja Vu before. Just tell them you've bartended at various clubs and give non-Deja Vu references. You'll be fine. The SF Deja Vu managers are pretty relaxed anyway. 8)
Re: question re: Deja Vu clubs
^^ *whew* ok. I was wondering whether or not I should mention that I bartended for a DV club before, whether that would help or hurt.
I just assumed there was like some big database of all past DV club employees and dancers, and that they would automatically find out I danced for one of their clubs before (via my SSN? who knows), and then my plans for staying out of dancing would be shot. :(
Don't they ask on the application if you've ever worked for the company before?
Re: question re: Deja Vu clubs
Probably so, but that would be the Deja Vu bartending application. You can tell them you bartended for Deja Vu before. Strippers don't have job applications in SF. Besides the SF Deja Vu managers wouldn't care if you danced before, so long as you didn't dance at the club your applying to. They really are pretty chill. You'll be fine. ;D
Re: question re: Deja Vu clubs
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply! :)
I prob will have to admit to dancing, b/c if I say I bartended there, they'll check my reference (i.e. call my former DV manager) and it will most likely come out anyway.
But if you say the SF managers don't care that I've danced for another DV club before...that's a relief!
Hey, at least they won't have to worry about the possibility of hiring and training me only to have me quit in favor of dancing three weeks later, since I've been there and done that and I already know I hate dancing! :P
