Does anyone have ideas on how I can possibly use this to my advantage as a dancer? :)
Um...
If you can dance non-stripper-like, you could do musicals ;)
Guys might like it if you get into the music and sing along in the back? It makes you look like you're having fun. Some might find it annoying, though.
I honestly don't see anyway you'd be able to use that to your advantage.
... and i can play the piano- we can be in a stripper band!!
burlesque
^^^ she is so right!!
I have found that women with strong musical voices or sultry, soothing ones do very well. Men are simple in that they are actually more sensual than we give them credit for...that's why they like to touch and be touched all the time...so, being smooth and sultry when you are just simply talking to them is a good place to start I suppose.
I sing along to most of the songs and yes, it does annoy people....BUT you know what does work? WHen you make up on-the-spot songs about people or about those people getting dances. ha ha ha...I have to have had a lot of coffee but I will get all "sing song" about everything if I'm making money and in a good mood....
pls don't do it!! i used to work at a club where one of the girls was a singer and guys would complain to me that she was singing in their ear during the dances!!
ha, i used to work w/ a girl who did karaoke on stage (shudders)
I was saying you could be in a burlesque show.
If you can sing just do that while taking off your clothes, and that's your whole gimmick. Not a lot of singing burly q's around. nost of them just dance.
If they don't have it in your area it's easy enough to have your own show,
and most times the person who throws the show gets paid the most.
You can google burlesque and watch videos on youtube.
Ok, so I went to youtube and did a search for singing/burlesque and nothing popped up but people singing while other people danced. That is not what I was talking about.
So if you go to youtube and search for, "Lola van Ella" That will give you some idea.
If you click the link on my signiture to my youtube channel, I'm singing "Back to black" It's the only video of me singing and undressing that I have left.
Also you can check this out

It's kinda strange, but you'll notice the crowd is going nuts for it.
You will always feel loved at a burlesque show.
Last but not least is:
Miss Jolie Goodnight singing "Oh Wolfie!"

She doesn't undress, but she does a little dance break where she could have.
mmm burlesk. remember jessica rabbit? ya had plenty money 1922.... though i prefer the hyper-ass peggy lee version.
i fell for yer jivin an' i took you in
now all ya got to offer me's a drink-a gin
why dontcha do right
yeah..
we had a karaoke stripper. strictly strawberry wine in a very hiphop/rock/techno club. she wasn't for everyone. one night a co-worker muttered "we should give you the mic" and i was like haha, right. i'm not about to steal her act. then she got fired for some nasty stuff and i was REALLY not about to do that.
BUT i sing constantly all night whenever the mood strikes me. and if the music cuts out unexpectedly, and everyone looks all weirded out, i always fill the silence with beatboxing or my voice. i read plenty of posts on here that people claim it looks dumb if a stripper is singing along to her music, and i think that's just silly. i'm not there to be a zombie, i get to yell at my dj if he says something to me or screws up the music, i get to talk to my customers, i get to groove, i get to high-five customers if they want, i get to rub my face in female customers boobies, i get to get naked, and i sure as hell get to sing.
fuck what ya heard, you're in a nightclub, which is about music, and dancing, and people acting outside of "normality."
oh and another thing is, where i'm from, men like singing. they like to sing, and they like you to sing. one night i grabbed a young cute guy for the last song, and he sang along with EXTREME PASSION to the entirety of that leona lewis song or whatever, you cut me open and i keep bleeding. first time i ever heard the song... i did more laughing than dancing. i should have paid him. he's a glittering jewel in my long grayish-brown murk of strip club customer memory.
if you wanna sing high, sing high! if you wanna sing low, sing low!
it makes you look like you're having fun anyway, which = tips. tips tips tips. mmm. (pardon me, i'm just a little bit delirious)
id sing to the guys sometimes...
depends on the song. dont just sing every song cuz it'll look like you're just bored. but if its a sexy or sweet song and i know the guy will like it, i'll sing along (quietly, and airy) in their ear. i had a regular who loved it.. and other guys liked it cuz it was different. funny cuz i have a pretty bad voice.
but other than that lol.. i dont see where else you can make money off singing talent in the club besides just impressing people.
Just adding, the only time I've ever personally sang to a customer was "happy birthday" monroe style, lol. But, that's easy.. because it's more of a breathy whispering than a real "sing".
omg, a new girl was singing next to me last night in a cd room. singing with the song at the top of her lungs- we were all like wtf!!! fortunately i think they're firing her
you could just use it as a cute line to make a sale.
Like, if a customer was giving you a bath of compliments: "oooh, you know what else? Ive got a really cute singing voice, see?"
Or, if a customer asked you where you're from/ethnic history: "A lot of people told me I was good at singing growing up, see?"
...I don't know. It sounds cute to me
I kind of sing along to my music when I'm onstage...not like loud, but kind of mouthing along to the words or something. But my music is cool music, like NIN and Tool and Rage Against the Machine, and I ALWAYS get guys complimenting me on it. They're like, "We can tell that you're actually really into the music, and that's really hot."
