fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
ok so I work at this club that closed down [I believe prostitution was involved], and is now reopened and under new management.
They are very strict now because the city is on the club's ass, waiting for us to slip up so they can shut us down again.
SO the club USED to be fully nude. it is now topless. ok, fine.
However, the cherry on top of the sundae is that the dances we sell have to be fully clothed. At no time can we take off our top. AND we have to give an air dance. No sitting on the lap. No contact WHATSOEVER...we can't even take their hands and put them on our body...nada.
So the people that come in the club, they usually ask me about the rules, bc they notice that the girls aren't getting naked like they used to. When I then go on and tell them the rules they are usually very turned off and don't want to buy the dance. To a certain degree, I get why, because why pay for a clothed dance when I can just wait for you to go on stage and watch for free? [mind you, a custie said that to me and I had no retort for him]
so! any tips on how to hustle this? Should I just bamboozle them and get them to buy the dance before I tell them what they're getting?? I'm starting my 3rd shift, so I need all the help I can get at this point LoL
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
The club needs to adjust its entire business model to make up for this new issue. Until the management changes how the shows are presented to the customers, you are going to have a hell of a time selling dances.
Do you get many turns on stage? This is going to be the place that you'll make money, now. When hustling the floor, ask the customers to tip your stage. If they want to get a closer look at a topless girl, they are going to have to sit stage side, anyway. Prep them to be tipping while sitting there.
For private dances, this is going to be a really, really hard sell. Your club's management has it head up it's ass if they think the girls can sell fully clothed air dances for $20 a song (or whatever). They really need to make a major policy change in how the shows are handled.

How clothed? Bikinis? Dresses?
When I worked at the Gold Club in SF, dances were in bikini. So what I would do is wear 2 pair of bottoms- one more coverage, and one skimpy. When I had a dance, I'd let them interact by undoing the sides of my larger bottoms, so they got the illusion of me removing clothing.
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
I agree @ Paris. I'm going to have to really up my stage presence/persona and go from there.
@mediocrity: that sounds like a great idea, but im not sure how it will fly. Yes we can wear 2 pairs of bottoms...like boyshorts and a g-string, but I think that slipping my boyshorts down is implying too much...maybe I can run it by management??
nevertheless, this whole stripping thing is getting me down the more I think about it :-\
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
Is there another club that you can go to?? It sounds like you are caught in the middle of a pissing contest between the city and the club, and that's not a fun place to be.
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
I am all in favor of not mentioning the lap dance rules. i mean, normally one doesn't really talk about that sort of thing anyway. Its just "wanna dance" - go. I have worked in bikini bars before, and the money was just as good as the alternative. I do suggest removing at least one item of clothing so the custy feels like they're getting smthg - like wear a dress or skirt over a bikini, and take it off during the dance, Also, give the most sensuous dance allowed by law- lots of eye contact. And stop thinking that your dances suck- you're worth it naked or not.
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
^^ You wouldn't believe how many ppl seriously asked me what the rules were for dances when I was on the floor. bc the club used to be nude, they notice the girls onstage are just topless, so they ask. AND when the club was shut down it was widely publicized. But your idea is a good one. I just need to find my trusty g-sting [make sure my manager knows about it] and put on a show.
@Gia: yeah there are some other clubs in the area. I guess im just a little nervous to venture out. I feel like i only got into this club bc I knew one of the girls...My stage sets aren't that great. I rely on personality for money. But I did meet one girl that said she would help me out and get me into a club she dances at in LA...my confidence just isn't up enough to go do it...

This would be great w/ non-local customers. If the club is a local spot, this could backfire causing the customers to feel jaded and ripped off.
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
yeah, thats true, i guess i'm so used to the non repeat business model, i forget that other ones exist. so, in that case, mention the different format, but still talk it up to make it sound good
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
Oh don't dance in LA anyway, it's not the best. (Sorry girls who work there) What about OC how far are you from there?

Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
This happened to me before, and I switched clubs, which is hopefully an option for you.
If you really like the club, maybe you could go back after customers have become accustomed to the new rules and when new club regulars (who aren't used to the old rules) have become established in the club. Then again, there's no saying that the club will still be the "same" after time has passed.
I, personally, can't sell airdances convincingly bc I don't believe in them, myself. But I'm sure there are ways that you can get around that and change your mindset. Because I started stripping in a club where dances were $30 for full contact, and I've been doing that for the past 6 years..oh wait 7 now...on and off...I'm so used to feeling that for $30 you should GET contact...that when it's any less I feel like I'm ripping someone off. But there again...it's all in my head and you can get around this.
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
I agree with Paris. Spend your time socializing with customers, casually bringing up dances but mostly getting friendly with them so they will come up when you're on stage. You can subtely, and in a cute/sexy/hustler way bring up that you guys really only make money on stage, so stage tips are important.
If you get any talkers, you could also try and sell the dances as a "private area to talk." I sometimes get guys who are willing to drop the money for a dance just to sit a and talk, if I explain to them-- nicely-- that I need to do dances to make money, and I can't just sit and talk to them.
I am strongly against lying about lap dancing rules... you are not going to develop any regulars (which could save you $ wise there) because guys are going to be pissed, unless you always get the money upfront you're going to have a huge problem with angry customers refusing to pay, and catty girls seeing you making money and hearing you promising things to customers may tell your managment (or those pissed off customers may complain) which may get you fired, if your manager is really worried about the club getting in trouble.
If guys keep asking you what the rules are... I get this all the time... just avoid the questiom by responding cutely with something like "I'm gonna dance just for YOU baby where we can be by ourselves! come on lets go have fun I can't wait to spend some alone time with you!" If the customer persists he is looking for more than you can give or extras, and he is not a potential customer anyway.
Re: fully clothed air dance ... wtf?!
Can you avoid going on stage? Some clubs have this offer or if you're in with the dj well enough you'll get skipped.
"I don't go on stage. You'll have to catch me in action in the VIP."
My club is so busy even on nights that I do stages I tell guys when they say:
"I want to see you dance on stage."
Me: "I'm not doing stages tonight. If I do it's not going to be for hours."
Which is usually the truth.
