Those "cool" wedding dances (barf)
OK, the first one was amusing. But every one since then has been derivative and annoying. Is it just me, or do others think the couples who are "too cool" to do a traditional wedding dance, and break out into some version of the funky chicken or the sprinkler or whatever, and become "internet sensations", are just annoying attention hounds who I don't think I'd want to know in real life? The latest is a video I've been seeing all week on yahoo and elsewhere where the entire wedding party boogies down the aisle. Ugh.

Awe, party pooper. Heh.
I dunno. Are they really any worse than other YouTube posting fanatics?
People seem to enjoy them, and they don't seem to be hurting anyone. If something is not our taste, than no one really forces us to click to watch.
I say let them have their fun. Besides, I don't know who's idea or intention it was to post a video online. Some of the vids may have been recorded prior to the YouTube craze. Also, perhaps in some cases, it's not the couple's idea.

I dunno, I loved it when my sister and her hubby did the traditional slow dance(sade-by your side) and then as soon as the song ended they went right into "boogie shoes". It was so cute.
They didnt tell anyone they were gonna do a fast dance. She choreographed the whole thing, it was pretty simple though since her husband is not exactly the most coordinated man alive..
Re: Those "cool" wedding dances (barf)
THANK YOU.
It pisses me off when you see crap like this on the damn news too. You want to make a fool of yourself during your wedding, fine. Whatevs. But do we all have to see the damn video again and again, all over TV? Getting the whole wedding party together again to have them do the whole thing over again? WTF? Does no one have anything more important to do than obsess over the ridiculous meaningless antics of other people's lives?
Then again, I've never understood the attitude most people have towards weddings. I'd want a small, dignified, modest wedding myself. I don't understand why people have this compulsion to make such a spectacle out of it.
Re: Those "cool" wedding dances (barf)
Why do you care if people want to have a fun non-traditional wedding? I saw it and thought it was adorable and would love to do something like it at my wedding. I hate the idea of a boring walk down with the quiet music and the boring faces. No thanks.
And if you dont like it - dont watch it.
Re: Those "cool" wedding dances (barf)
You're looking at wedding videos? For someone that is against all things marriage, it strikes me as odd that you go on you tube to watch wedding videos.
Just sayin'
Re: Those "cool" wedding dances (barf)
^^^ Have you not turned on the TV in the past week? It's the latest inescapable "human interest" piece. BLECH!

I haven't turned on the TV since 1997. ;)
Re: Those "cool" wedding dances (barf)
^^^ Probably a good idea.
I think the real irritating issue here is that we've suddenly found ourselves living in a time when everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame for absolutely nothing special at all.

This.
And I think my main point was, the first couple who did this and went viral? Funny. Original. Fresh. The next 10 couples who did it? Boring. Copycat. Derivative.
It's like in Life of Brian, where an entire crowd chants "yes, we all think for ourselves, we are all individuals," and one guy then pipes up "I'm not." That's funny, the purest form of irony, and I'm that guy.
