Stripper poles for private parties...
The threads on what kind of portable stripper poles were great, but I was wondering if anybody uses them in private parties?
I was thinking of getting one, and adding it to the larger parties (4 girl shows) but I was wondering if you find it more of a hassle, or too much of a liability (I run an agency)
Has anybody ever brought a portable stripper pole to a private party? I think it would really make our company stand out from the others, plus it would be a lot of fun.
Re: Stripper poles for private parties...
I've done private parties. We never brought a pole, but it would have been a lot of fun. The issue is that bringing it and setting it up is a hassle. Also, if something bad happens and you have to get out quick, you might lose a valuable piece of equipment.
I guess you could have the customers put down a deposit for the pole or something if they want that. Personally, I'd love to work a private party that had a pole.

Oh, thanks! I hadn't even thought yet about having to leave it behind, but that's a VERY good point. I will have to find out if insurance would cover that, or maybe put it in a contract with the customer. A deposit is a good idea too. And I'm glad you think it would be fun-I thought it would be too. I'm sure the customers would like it! I'll have to do some more research and let you guys know if I go through with it. I know another company in my state does it, but it's out of my area-maybe I'll give them a call.

There is a collapsable model, but I'm not sure who manufactures it or how safe it is. I just know a guy that had one at his house. I never got hurt but I wasn't very good back then. Generally when I have danced at bachelor parties, the guys have sat in a circle and you kind of do a mini chair dance for them but pull the bachelor to the center and dance for him.
I've also done games at the parties.

Well,my lawyer said there shouldn't be a problem with me having a pole at the party so we'll see :) I found a guy who sells good ones discounted at a local club for only $75. So, I'm excited about that!

I bought this one for a friend of mine as a bachelorette gift.

It was initially meant to be a gag, but she apparently put it up in their hotel room on their honeymoon and it now has a permanent place in their bedroom so I guess it was money well spent.
Re: Stripper poles for private parties...
I own an agency and I started offering the option for the stripper pole. Not all my girls work at clubs as well so that limits who I can book for such events and it is a pain in the ass. the cheap pole is not good, just dangerous :O
My Hubby goes on those shows and has practiced taking the pole up and down. Then of course you run into the ceiling height issue. I rarely run into the average size ceiling. I also only suggest it if it's a two hour show. Not worth it for a one hour show, it will take time away from making your good $$.
You can charge for the pole upfront but guys don't throw a lot when you're actually dancing on it. Personally, I didn't think it increased my $$, if anything it hurt it a bit. But it is a fun option to offer and guys that are really into the whole stripper thing like it.
