I want to dance but dont know where to start
Hello everyone! Im new to the site and need some expert advice from you girls.
I want to start dancing but Im not sure where to start. Do I just walk into a club and ask if they are hring?? What is the procedure?
How do they "interview" me?
Will they touch my body or take some pics to see if Im dancing material?
Do you girls think it is best to work at a club far from home? Their is quite a few clubs by my area, they are not extreamly close to where I live which I kn ow can be dangerous, but near by. Or should I look for something that is at least 20 or 30 mins away?
Im kind of paranoid that the people will not hire me, I recently lost about 50 pounds and I go to the gym regularly but Im still not as toned as I would like to be, some parts of my body are still giggly if you know what I mean. Im paranoid that they will say Im not toned enough.
Im also worried about the dancin, Im definetly not going to do the pole I will break my neck. Preferbly I would like to be on stage and I jsut dont know how to move my body. Did you girls take classes before dancing professionally?
Im so sorry for all these questions. Your probably thinking if your so insecure then why dance. The things is im not insecure, Im just freakn nervouse!!!
Like most of us here I need the money, my bf just dumped me leaving me with rent to pay on my own, and Im currently in law school and also taking care of my dying dad and his medical bills. I just can do it now on a 9-5 job.
Thank you so much for all of your responses.
p.s. sorry if their is any typos.
Re: I want to dance but dont know where to start
From what I have been through with getting hired....Basically, you go into the club(s) your interested in, fill out an application, & ask to see the manager because you'd like to audition. Now, I have had the front desk girl snap a pic of me to attach to my app. Anyhow, the two auditions I've been a part of....One club they let you change into your dance outfit, then they put you up on stage for 2 songs. The other club lets you change into your dance outfit, then they make you lapdance for another dancer....sorta awkward, but at least it wasn't on stage.
During none of the application OR auditioning process should anyone touch your body.
As far as club proximity to your home....I guess it's a preference. It seems though that you might run into more people you know at the closer clubs. I have been driving anywhere from a half hour to two & half hours to find clubs.
You do not need to be a professionally trained dancer to be a stripper. You can practice right at home in front of a mirror. Put on some music that you will want to dance to in the clubs, & just let your body move with it. Don't even think about it, just be free. Then when you get hired, you will get the rest of your dance training is from actually doing it for hours, also, if you happen to have slow time & another dancer might show you some moves.
Also, there are a ton of threads in these forums about auditioning, clubs close/far from you, and body issues (you mentioned you thought you might need more toning). It seems like from what I've been told that quite a few clubs will hire you, then you can work on getting toned before before moving onto a nicer club. Again, search the forums on that too.
Sorry so long....was just trying to get in most of your questions..Good Luck!
Re: I want to dance but dont know where to start
Than you so much for you answer, I see from your post/responses you are very knowledgable.
I think I will go somewhere far from home just so I can feel a little safer. I will probably go tomorrow to a club and see how it goes.
Thank you once again, you made me feel more comfortable.
Will post how my audition goes
Re: I want to dance but dont know where to start
At all of my auditions, the manager usually came out, looked at me, asked me to fill out an app, change into my clothes and dance on stage and hired me after.
The one place that didn't hire me, the manager came out, talked me for a minute and told me he had too many dancers on his roster and to come back in two months.
Re: I want to dance but dont know where to start
I have a bunch of free tutorials that walk you auditioning, getting hired, your first night, and your first week.
Its just too much info to type out!
