Suggest to me a new perfume
I'm in a rut. Looking for something different and I -swear- I've tried everything out there. My two favorite perfumes I've used in the past are:
Lolita Lempicka (the original)
Tom Ford Black Orchid (the original)
I love those two, but I want a change.
I also like:
Prada, Infusion D Iris (but I feel like it starts to smell too baby-powdery)
Ralph Lauren Hot (but it gets a little too flowery toward the end and it's also a little too common for me)
Basically as you can tell by my two favorites, I like a good balance of femme with spice/earth and originality. Most of the perfumes I like tend to fall into the oriental or woody descriptions. I also like "fresh/herby" scents like basil, mint, etc...
What I'm not fond of is... overly musky (I don't want to smell like a ferret), overly floral, overly powdery, or overly sweet. Any of those are fine in moderation when balanced with something else.. but I"m not a full-on-vanilla or full-on-rose kind of girl.
Thank you in advance, perfume gurus. :P I've seriously taken home like 6 samples in the last month from sephora only to go "eh, nevermind" after trying them once or twice.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
We have similar tastes, I also love Lolita Lempicka, Black Orchid and Prada. I also wear Calvin Klein's Euphoria, Victoria's Secret Rapture, and I'm ashamed to admit I like the new Ed Hardy, I think it's the Love and Luck one and Thierry Mugler Angel Innocent Secret. For summer I love Escada's Moon Sparkle and VS Halo (both are discontinued and hard to find though).

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
Gosh, it's so hard to suggest perfumes, because they always smell different on different people, but I love Tom Ford Black Orchid, so here's some to try:
Tom Ford White Patchouli (not too much patchouli, it's more like a softer version of Black Orchid)
Thierry Mugler Alien (very unique smell, reminded me of Black Orchid, smells like the color purple)
John Varvatos (woody and floral, very feminine, a little sweet)
B de Boucheron (super expensive, only available at Neiman Marcus, reminds of a lighter Chanel crossed with Emporio Armani)
Issey Miyake L' Eau D' Issey (very light and crisp, white lilies and grassy)
Kai (smells like straight gardenias, only available at Barney's, very unique, I love the Body Glow dry oil spray mixed with lotion, it's just straight essential oils, very exotic smelling, lasts ALL DAY)
Hope this helps, these are my favorites.

^I like Euphoria too, but a girl at my work wears it constantly and so it reminds me of her. You know how it is. I got a sample of the new Ed Hardy, but it smelled too sweet on me after a bit. I've never smelled Rapture... or at least I don't think I have. Is it a newer one? I'll have to go try it..

Thanx! Alien smells a little too much like other things for me, although I didn't dislike it. A lot of people have suggested L'EauD'Issey to me, but for some reason Sephora never has a tester out. I'll have to seek it out elsewhere. Need to smell Kai and the others too.
keep the suggestions coming! :D

I don't dislike Angel, and normally it's something I would enjoy, but I'm just sick of it because 50% of the dancers I work with wear it or used to. It just reminds me of work at this point, lol.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
hmmm.... well, if you like spicy woodsy scents, maybe you'd like hugo boss woman? it's got that whole vibe to it.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
Kenzo has some really interesting, unique scents. I just started using Kenzo Amour and have gotten so many compliments on it.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
I can tell you I DON'T like:
Miss Dior Cherie
Narcisso Rodriguez
Ohhhh, I forgot an important one! I actually suggested this for a guy friend of mine, and he bought it for his girlfriend, and she LOVED it. It's a little on the intense side, but it is mesmerizing:
Versace Crystal Nior (not to be confused with Bright Crystal, doesn't smell like anything you've ever worn before, intense, complex, intoxicating, strong, intense, woodsy, a little musky, but feminine and floral at the same time. It is really hard to find though, check an actual Versace store if you can't find it. Everyone always loves this one, and I promise no one else will be wearing it!) I think you would REALLY love this one, try it!

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
Dior Addict 2, Gucci Rush, pink Sugar, just to name a few.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
I am fond of Victoria's Secrest Super Model. And sadly whenever I wear Curious by Britney Spears I get a ton of compliments from men.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
Have you ever had someone mix one for you? There is this place by me where you can sniff a bunch of vials and then they blend you something. http://www.scentsationslotionsoils.com
Have you are smelled Bergamot ( citrus fruit , Asia )? It's my latest favorite.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
Oh, I totally forgot! I was in Vicky's Secret the other day and an annoying sales girl sprayed me with one of their new ones, Oh, la la or something or nother (it's in a little atomizer with the ball you squeeze). Dang that stuff smelled AWESOME! If I wasn't trying to use up some of my stash, I would've actually bought it. One thing though, I'd try it first and make sure it lasts, she didn't hit me with enough to tell and many of their perfumes fade pretty fast.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
I also haev the Oooh La La. I love it because it is such a soft scent.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
I totally just read through this to make sure no one was recommending my perfume of choice.
/covets
I even lie to other girls while I'm at work about what I wear so they won't buy it. Muahahah.
On other girls... I really like Armani Code.

Yeah, I need to check out the rest of Kenzo. I tried the vintage and I loved it.. but my bf hated it. I'm not picking something "for him" but I'd hate to walk around smelling like something he hates all day. lol

Does it really matter considering we (probably) work in completely different states? :P

It was probably the "noir" one. I tried it today actually. Not bad at first, but it got really sweet after an hour and then faded on me.

Thanks. I totally forgot I wanted to try the Crystal Noir. I looked for it at Sephora once, but all they had was the bright one. I'll have to go looking at Nordstroms and etc. Maybe the Versace store if I -HAVE- to, lol.

Haha. It only matters because of my covetous nature. xD
Also... so far... it seems to smell like complete and utter shit on 90% of ppl who've asked to get sprayed with it at work. So it's probably not such a helpful suggestion.

Re: Suggest to me a new perfume
Penny, have you tried doing this online fragrance finder on Sephora? It's pretty cool!
