Thanks.
I don't know if it is appropriate to say this.
But... I am amongst girls...
I masturbate before I go to sleep. It knocks me out :P Might try that
You just made me LOL!
I.. uh.. I think a lot of guys want to have sex with you :O... My hubby knows a lot of nice guys, we could double date? I'm not talking "hey this is our stripper friend, you can get lucky", like a real blind date, meet someone, kinda date. Do you like guys in bands? :) (that have real jobs too)
Xanax is so addictive and a very dangerous drug. I used to be addicted to it and remember how fucked up I used to be daily. I dont know how I got through the days. I see girls now that I know use it frequently and feel empathy b/c they are SO OUT OF IT every day. I know that's how I was, it just makes you so numb to everything..
Even though you're prescribed the meds, taking them too much is still very dangerous. It makes sense that you would have to gradually get off the drug, since it is so addictive.
I have severe anxiety and some insomnia, so I can really relate. When it's really tough, I take a bath with lavender and uses candles to get relaxed. I also drink milk or take "mellowtonin" which is melatonin, a natural sleep aid..
Talk to your doc and explain the problems you are having have them give you suggestions.
Good luck :)
benzodiazepines are very, very addictive. VERY. I think it's a good idea to consider other options for treating your anxiety, and just not go further down the road of taking so much xanax. It's a slippery slope, as you said you end up needing more and more.
I will tell you this as a healthcare worker, benzodiazepines are harder to kick addiction wise than opiates such as heroin, and the withdrawl from benzos can kill you. It's very dangerous.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with this :( ::hugs::
Thanks for the responses. I need tips on how to get off this stuff naturally. I am trying to weaning, but damn, it's HARD! It is a total physical addiction, I've never experienced something like this. My body starts going crazy if I don't get it. I need to know some natural coping techniques or the like. Herbal replacements? Melatonin makes me have crazy dreams, but that was a while ago, so I'll try it again. I drink caffeine and alcohol, I wonder if that is contributing to these feelings.
the only way you can safely get off of zanax is by weaning yourself off. i know, it sucks, but it beats having your body freak out on you. what kind of dosage are we talking about here? hate to say it, but homeopathic remedies won't help here - just good old fashioned will power and weaning.
Ok, this happens to me with my kolonopin. Ive been taking them for two years, I usually take only 3 times a week and mine are .05. When I go out of town for work I take 3 a day for sleep. Almost imediately after I get home and dont take them a few days I get the exact same feeling you get. Wierd how you described the brain ,twitching thing. When I tell doctors they dont know what I am talking about. You are going to have to keep taking the benzos for it to go away. You can not substitute with an herb because your body becomes phisically adicted to benzos you will risk seizure. I think like me you feelings get more intense because you are causing yourself to have a panic attack thinking you will die, have a siezure. I think your ok but you need to keep taking them and taper off. Dont take more than you need though or you will be back to were you started. More withdrawl. Just slowly ween yourself off and those twitching feelings will go away. Once your off for a while and your symtoms go away yuo can move on to more natural things to help you out.
Oh and I forgot, it can take a while for the twitching to go away. It took almost 3 weeks forme.
I know there are all natural remedies for anxiety/stress... I used to take liquid b complex which I found helped a lot, and I know the kava kava root is supposed to help with anxiety... google it to learn more, I dont want to give u wrong info
Hmm...
Benzo addiction is not in the realm of natural/herbal. Therefore natural/herbal detox is not likely to work, as lovely as the idea sounds.
Benzo addiction is a serious addiction, as others have stated. You need medical support, a therapist, group therapy, etc.... whatever it takes for you. You need a team to back you up when you can't just do it on your own. You posted asking for medical advice, but the best place to get that is through a doctor (sorry to have to state the obvious). You need people who have dealt with this many many many times and who have the resources and best tools to help you. I hope you will seek the appropriate help...
Good luck!!!!
I wasnt saying to take it for her addition problem, i was saying to take it for STRESS or anxiety issues instead of taking the xanax.
I am trying right now to wean myself off Xanax, but I was always have an anxiety/insomnia problem so:
Valerian Root in high doses
Melatonin
5 HTP
L Tyrosine
Kava Kava root
Are there any homeopathic alternative to help with detox? Like help my body recover and repair itself from this? I am thinking:
Milk Thistle
Fish oils
Does anyone have any suggestions?
When I was weaning myself from Effexor (a highly physically-addictive anti depressant), I'd taper the daily dose down over about two months - literally grain by grain. Xanax is in tablet form, so you could use a one of those pill cutting tools to break the tablets into small pieces and try to gradually lower the dose.
i missed the original post but read something about twitching? are you girls talking about when you get out of bed or up off the couch and walk two steps and then fall back down really dizzy and your body starts twitching for like a minute?
hopefully because that obviously happens to me. that's been happening since i was anorexic in HS. when i eat more, it happens less. i haven't had an ED since HS but still probs with anxiety/depression and alllll diff types of drugs, including xanax, ativan, klonopin, and anti-depressants like lexapro and effexor.
now i take a supplement called Travacor that has 5-HTP in it and B6 complex. its helping but its def not a miracle. :genie:
i'm still addicted to pot, however, so that prob fucks everything up. physical addictions are really freaky. :O
i agree with trying to cut up the pills and take a little less each week or so. or i've taken klonopin that dissolves under your tongue so its fast acting like xanax but doesn't put me in a completely different world.
the most helpful thing i ever found to quit drugs was Bikrams Hot Yoga. Ofcourse because i am not familiar with your particular addiction i have no specific formula for you. i suspect that even while doing a low dose you could try the yoga with the advise of your dr. and instructor.
it is said that anything you do for two weeks straight becomes part of you. after two weeks of yoga i felt vastly different. the sense of peace and accomplishment i felt after such a hard practice did so much for my mind and spirit. my confidence was lifted and my whole being more relaxed. extremely relaxed. i continued with the class for 2 1/2 months straight and my life was transformed.
i did relapse following the death of my father but my strength had grown and i was able to leave the drug alone completely and have for over six years.
i dont know what your beliefs are but i have also found prayer and meditation to be profoundly helpful. meditaion to stay in the moment and prayer to strengthen your resolve and self love.
i wish you the best and also offer you my prayers for your recovery. you can and will find the strength you need. lots of good ju ju for your decisions and healing.
above all remember to treat yourself with love and respect.
Wow guys, thank you for this wealth of advice! I wasn't aware of some of those herbs, and I never would have thought of Bikram yoga! It sucks, because I am physically addicted, 100%. I have no desire to do this drug or in any way get "high" from it, but with that being said, I can't not take it, or my body goes crazy. I want to start taking some reparative remedies, does anybody have any suggestions, preferably homeopathic things to do/take to help my body repair itself back to its pre-xanax state? Once again, thanks for all the responses, it's been very helpful!
I was doing research on this last year and there was this amn who had a whole list of things that clean them out of the body faster. Though now I cant remember. I remember there was this green stuff you mixed with water. I did but it but only drank it twice since it was so gross but milk thistle helps detoxify the liver. Yeah I woke up today feeling like this because I havent taken my kolonpin for 3 days. Its awful I went to the grocery and I felt like I was going to have a seizure and the cashier wanted to talk ans talk and it made me feel worse.
st johnswort and melissa or lemon balm both relax you and are subtle mood elevators. supposedly st john is contraindicative with sunlight so use caution. hops tincture may help you sleep as well as valarian, passion flower, and skullcap . as far as the shakes or whatever, trees? <thats kind of my catch all cure : ) i would just be really really disciplined and safetly wean yourself down until you wont have a seizure and then just suck it up and realize its gonna hurt but only for a little while. work out like crazy until you are exhausted and start boosting your body with vitamins.
i dont know what homepathics might help they are contraindicated for so many things, coffee tea tree oil, chamomile, chocolate etc. but.. calms forte is used to soothe children, also belladonna.
whole foods or even central market(prob) have basic homeopathic books and you might also want to check out the book nutritional healing also available at whole foods. that book seems like it would have some detox ideas in it.
dandelion tincture is used to detoxify.. i will let you know if i think of more.
lots of love and healing thoughts your way girl, you are stonger than you think. think positive and take it easy.
oh yeah one more, rescue remedy could help too by bachs flowers.
k good luck : )
Actually do not work out like crazy or get massages both make ymtoms worse. My aunt who has been on benzo over 20 years told me this. It releases the benzos from tissues into the blood. I was wondering why when I worked out I felt worse my aunt told me.
